Still not really something to "worry about" though, is it?

If there's a problem, there's a problem, regardless of which panel manufacturer you happen to end up with.

Just like the ghosting issues. Will never understand why people specifically go looking for it. If you notice it and it interferes with your enjoyment of your laptop then there's a problem. If you have to go hunting, then why is it an issue?

Because when you pay so much, you don't expect stupid issues like this. They are not minor.
Say you went to a really nice restaurant, and you found that 2 in 10 couples disliked their food so much they sent it back. You're telling me you wouldn't be worried that you might be that 2 in 10?

No. I'd either not go to the restaurant in the first place (unlikely if only 2 in 10 - which btw is WAY higher than the % of returns on rMBPs - remember MacRumors forums are not a representative sample of all the rMBPs sold, and even here it's WAY lower than 20%) or not worry about it until MY food was bad.

Really? 2 in 10 is high. And it's not way lower, it IS that figure (or was as of an hour ago) 30/130 which is almost a quarter, but I rounded it down to 20%.

No. It's 30/130 of the people who've voted in that poll.

Every bit of research ever conducted into stuff like this shows that people who've had something negative happen are MUCH more likely to comment (or in this case vote in the poll) than those who haven't.

The actual % of people who've returned their rMBP's will be FAR lower.

Sure, but it's safe to say that most people who check the MacBook Pro forums ANYWAY who own an rMBP will vote.
In any case, bit of a redundant conversation - the fact that I am concerned is enough, considering the amount of faulty units mentioned here.

It's not really a safe assumption to make at all tbh, but whatever. (Case in point, I've not had any problem with my rMBP and haven't voted in that poll, in spite of coming to this forum pretty much every day).

Unless you're going to cancel your order before receiving it, there's no point in worrying about it, is all i'm saying. You just wait, and deal with it if and when there's a problem. And if there IS a problem, the manufacturer of the panel is utterly irrelevant.

There's no point in worrying about something you can't (currently) influence - particularly something which (long term at least) will not cause you any loss or personal damage.

I've been tracking on expo.expeditors and it looks like I have an estimated delivery of 2pm on Tuesday, 3 days before the actual estimate. Woohoo!

I guess nothing happens on the weekend because my exp.o finally showed something and the flight is planned to arrive at heathrow 8pm today. Requested delivery is 16th so i guess its feasible to get it by friday... i hope

I think you're right; mine has been sitting in Heathrow since 5pm on Saturday and as of right now it's still not 'cleared for import'.

Mine is sat in Germany not departing, despite being there since yesterday morning. Albeit, I don't mind as long as it comes by Wednesday as I am travelling on business at the moment.

Rather frustrating when it's a courier that causes delay, though!

Is anyone in the same bundle of macbooks? I'd like to know why it's taking it so long to leave Germany, having been there since yesterday evening.

:)

Where did you get that tracking info from?

Nope! What I did was to click on 'track shipment' in my Apple email confirming shipment. This then took me to an Apple webpage and I clicked track again. I was then presented with a plain web page with text on, inamongst which was a UPS tracking number. Mine begins with 1Z4 and is quite long. It's called simply the 'tracking number' on this webpage. I then plugged that into the UPS site.

Does that help? :)

I've had no love with expo at all. Have you?

----------

If you go into your Apple account, and then click on track, which should be next to your order, it will take you to a plain text webpage with all kinds of info on, including the courier. Are they not all couriered by UPS then?

Odd how expo gives me 'no data'.

My expo says at customs, not cleared atm

The same number didnt work when i tried ups track. Did u get anothee number or...?

Mine also says not cleared... Actual time of arrival to LHR was 22:09 on the 12th August...

None of the numbers work with UPS and the requested deliverey date is 14th august (to UPS)... So we should have a UPS notification within the next 24 hours

Ah I guess yours is further along the chain. Apple track hasn't assigned a courier yet to track with. Yes that's very odd that exp.o didn't give you info. Did you put the original delivery number into it, the one beginning 8?

I just get this through the Apple website:

As you can see, no courier info is given

And through the exp.o site:

But I've had an email at 2pm today to say it has left Apple so god knows what's going on! Hopefully I'll receive more info at 2pm tomorrow.

I dunno mine only arrived at heathrow today at 4pm I think (it says estimate arrival 8pm, at final destination 4:14. How can they so hugely overestimate a flight time?). My requested delivery is 16th so I suspect mine will sit at heathrow for a while...I just really hope I get it Friday. Was hoping Thursday as that's my day off work & A level results so would have been an awesome reward (I hope lol) but evidently that won't happen if UPS are getting it then.

Exactly same as you and email at 2pm too. Also looks like yours arrived 4 hrs before estimation too...lol

Also you live not far from me :p I'm in stratford

How odd. I was told that UPS were couriering my package from the moment it shipped. My page looks not much like yours, either. I would add a picture but I've no idea how.

It was shipped on the 10th, by the way. Perhaps they have changed things since then?

Good luck in your A-level results. :) Do you have any university offers? I start uni in September but am lucky enough to have an unconditional offer. Doesn't stop me stressing though!

Ahh I went to college in Stratford (04-06), and I work in Stratford part time at the moment! Small world! Good luck in your A Levels :)

My email said, 'Your order has left Apple and you will have received a Dispatch Notification email advising you of the expected delivery date.'

I have had no Dispatch Notification email... unless they mean the original shipping one? Gosh it's much easier to buy things from Amazon! ;)

I forgot to say that on the 10th, I received a dispatch notice from Apple directly, however no additonal numbers were given. Today I recieved a billing invoice...

Under "Origin" I have Stanstead, England (STN) and under "Destination" I have London, England (LHR). However, near the top of the page is says from Shanghai to London :S - So Origin is always London under the "events" tab...

The "events" started on the 10th August, whereas NikkiJayne started on the 11th and is from China, not London! Plus mine uses ASIANA AIRLINES not Virgin Atlantic and I don't have a flight/voage

Hmm you ordered with the uni website right? I ordered from Bristol Uni site (thats my first choice uni).

Thanks you too. I got offers from all 5 (Bristol, Bath, Manchester, Nottingham, Loughborough). Insurance choice Bath even though borh Bath and Bristol condition is AAB so I really need it. What uni you going to? I will be starting October

Oh wow small world indeed. I went to stratford high school right next to the college.

Where are you working ? (fair enough if you rather not say). Im currently working at Tesco. 6am start every morning so i really should sleep asap lol.

Also i agree about Amazon. Awesome site.

Wow, five offers! From great universities, too. Well done you. I only got one, from Oxford, which was my first choice anyway. I'm going to be reading medicine, what about you? I had friends at Bristol and Bath, by the way, and they had great times :)

Oh, no I didn't order through the uni site. I phoned Apple and chatted about all the possible upgrades and ordered with the guy on the phone. I still got the HE discount though. Maybe this is why my order is a tad different?
