UK New MacBook Pro Thread.

Wow, five offers! From great universities, too. Well done you. I only got one, from Oxford, which was my first choice anyway. I'm going to be reading medicine, what about you? I had friends at Bristol and Bath, by the way, and they had great times :)


Oh, no I didn't order through the uni site. I phoned Apple and chatted about all the possible upgrades and ordered with the guy on the phone. I still got the HE discount though. Maybe this is why my order is a tad different?

Doing Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I tell you now mate i cant wait to move away and start something so new. I would love to end up one day involved in things like renewable energy or electronics developement.

That is different. Did they ask you for proof or anything? I never got asked.

I ordered mine through the Apple Store using the NUS link. Gahhhd I'm so tired of waiting!
 
That sounds pretty cool. Renewable energy surely is the future. Maybe you'll even be able to modify your retina macbook in the future whilst the rest of us weep at our measly RAM capacities!

Nope, no proof needed. I guess anyone could fleece Apple unless they have some kind of backdoor checking policy, which surely would be illegal.

Had a delivery date of 16th of August, have just checked my order and its gone to the 14th of August! Ive gone from thinking about my rMBP not being here for another 3 days to getting it 2moz haha!!

Have just had an import scan done in Kolne, finally! Still needs to get on another plane though ...

I don't have a clue, I haven't been given a delivery reference number yet! It's with UPS though.

Can anyone make sense of this? The last part confuses me ... i.e. arrival (where, stanstead?), departure (from where, stanstead?).

EDIT: Okay, I think I get this now. Next stop Feltham, I think. Which is a courier depot, or so I have decided from flicking through this thread. Should I expect a delivery today?

Have you tried tracking it through the apple store, i.e. from your login page where your orders are shown? That's where I was given my tracking number.

Mine is still at Heathrow but is now 'ready for delivery'. Awesomesauce. Gotta merge with a gift card though so fingers crossed I'll be getting it tomorrow/Thursday (and I have a date on Thursday so sod's law is it will come then and I will be torn away from it!)

Yeah I found it, mines just passed through Crawley now, on the delivery truck at this moment! If your macbook is with the courier now I would imagine you would get it today. Depends what time they got it though, was it in the morning at like 4am? If so then you should get it today.
 
You're all so lucky, tracking your rMBPs' every move around the globe :D. Mine's still stuck in China, "Preparing for Shipment" (4th day today).

All I know is that it left Stansted at 4:20, or at least was scanned for departure then. Not exactly sure what that means. Was your macbook in the same container as mine? Are you tracking by the UPS site or expo?

Called UPS. Apparently it's gone to the East Midlands depot to be sorted and then will be out for delivery tomorrow. :(
 
My replacement just arrived! Perfect with a Samsung screen: 0 dead pixels! Amazingly I still have my faulty rMBP so I hooked them both up over gigabit ethernet to transfer my profile. It was hitting a solid 117.5MB/s transfer over the LAN, which is the fastest transfer I've ever recorded by far.

What spec did you order? Should I be expecting a Samsung screen with my order or are they still using LG too? Mine was BTO, by the way.

I've just recieved mine! Its so amazing, the screen looks stunning! I was supposed to get mine at the end of the day, so fingers crossed you get yours soon!!

They use LG too, but from most accounts the LG is great too.
 
Wow, superspec! I'm only hoping for a Samsung as all the problem stories I've heard are about LG. And apparently Samsung use a better tech for their screen making. Plus LG is a pretty crappy company! Maybe that's a tad unfair but it definitely ain't Pioneer.
 
My Apple shipment status still hasn't updated but exp.o says it is 'out for delivery' with Goldstar as of 10.20 this morning. I know it has to be merged but I still hope to get it today ;) So I wonder what the 2pm 'requested delivery date' actually meant? Maybe it means I will get it today? Oh please oh please oh please!

None of my order numbers work on Goldstar though. Rubbish.
