Hey guys,

I just wondered if anyone has bought a new macbook pro retina thru apple's finance yet? And also what the monthly repayments are like and interest? I'm thinking of either doing this or just putting it on a 0% credit card for 16 months. I just wondered what might be the better option?

Thanks Paul

If you've got a 0% CC option, I'd take it. Ive stuck £2k of the cost on 0% CC which cost me a flat 3.5% - £70 - fee. Apple finance is ~15% APR and based on the example on the website will cost £~300 in interest (although you can have up to 4 years to repay it)

Only just discovered this thread.

I ordered mine - 2.6GHz, 16GB - the day after the Keynote by which time dispatch had slipped to 2-3 weeks, so I've got an estimated delivery of 4th - 10th July :( - though hopefully it'll arrive a couple of days early as my birthday is 2nd July :)

I was intending ordering as soon as the store came back up; 2.3GHz with the 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD upgrades - except there's no 512GB SSD option. Why not FFS Apple???

That put me in a quandary as I don't really need the 2.6GHz CPU at an extra £500, but 256GB is definitely not enough. No doubt 3rd party upgrades will become available but it would void the Apple Care :(

I thought about getting the top end non-Retina model with the hi-res (1680x1050) option and doing the RAM & SSD upgrade myself but when I costed it that would have totalled £2315 against £2460 for the 2.6GHz Retina with 16GB RAM. So, for an extra £145 I decided to go with it :)

What is the normal delivery times?

I mean, mine says 3-4 weeks from when I ordered (11 June 2012).

In reality, are Apple accurate with these, or am I likely to be surprised close to 3 weeks for example?

I'll be doing one on my blog and also on YouTube..

Incidentally - thanks for the heads up, Kidman13 and others :)

^ That works.

The same number in UPS/TNT/etc isn't found, but according to the expeditors.com site, my Macbook is currently on Korean Air 503 and delayed (!) [just 20 minutes.. :p] in Seoul.

Fortunately the flight is direct to LHR so it will be in the country soon!

It's intriguing following all the different routes Apple takes from Shanghai. I wonder why my particular MBP went to Korea??

Anyway, it's fun, at least now I can track it :)

Ohhhh do send over when your done. Only one I found from a UK based techy or YouTuber which is pretty concise and to the point. Here's the link. Do send me yours when it's done babe! X

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these! I'll be ordering through the education store as soon as my credit card company get their act together. 3-4 weeks will seem like an age but it'll be worth it!

Oooh - the Tracking section of the website is currently being updated and we'll be back soon, but the rest of the site is still up. Wonder if there's being a mass re-scheduling of deliveries - earlier rather than later I hope :p

Mine currently says there was a problem with your request. Is that same message your getting when trying to sign to check your order status?

Thanks

Yes - but the message is different using the iPhone App

Anyway, it's back but no change :(

Wow £300 interest that's a lot I think the credit card is my best option I can get 16 months 0% but I'm not sure if I'll get a big enough limit until I apply for it. I wanted to get an iPad at the same time that way I can just pay it all off at once.

Anyone else getting weird weights for their shipment on http://expo.expeditors.com/
?

Mine says 246kg?
Still confused..according to that website mine should land in Frankfurt tonight, but they requested a delivery for Thursday (21st). Apple website still says it's the 25th + Apple says the MacBook and the iTunes Card shipment will be merged in Prag?!

Mine says 81KG while only being 1 piece (with a Volume:.535 M3) which makes a very compelling case for my initial hunch that this is a pallet for Apple which will be sorted in some facility and then be sent through a local shipper.

Yeah I just realised that too.
Mine is landing in Franfurt (pretty close to me) but has, according to exp.o, Prag as it's final destination. A lot of my Apple stuff came from Prag in the past, so they probably have some sort of facility there.
So sad to know it's gonna be within an hours drive tonight, but I won't get it until the week after next week -.-

I feel your pain! Normally I wouldn't be this obsessive with a product, but my 13" Macbook Pro is on its deathbed and I have a very important Photoshop project to finish :(

Hope Apple pulls through with a surprise next week...

I'm in the east midlands for me it's saying 3 weeks :-(

If it's already in Europe I can't see it taking another week and a half to be delivered. I reckon you're going to get a pleasant surprise :)

I quite liked that chap's review. A nice idea to go to an Apple store to get some footage although I'm surprised that he manage to get past the horde of teenagers to access the machine (my local apple store is heaving like a cheap Internet cafe at times).

I'm just getting ready to record the review and just waiting for the MBP to arrive!

All the best,

Mike

Ordered mine saturday afternoon, after waiting all week for my tax reimbursement to clear. 2.6, Retina, 16gb, 512 SSD. Pretty awesome deal with student discount, you basically get it VAT free and a £70 iTunes card.

My status is:

Processing Items Dispatched: 3 - 4 Weeks Delivers 17 Jul, 2012 - 23 Jul, 2012

I so hope they're being conservative with the dates.

I don't know what is/was worse, waiting for my iPad 3 and knowing it was in the country being held back until the release date or waiting a whole month (maybe more) for the MBP.

Upgrading from a MBP 3,1 Santa Rosa 2.4 so im expecting this thing to fly compared to my current baby.

Same here (current and new) :)

Based on GeekBench scores, our current machines are ~3000 and our new ones ~12000 - so just a little difference :D

My delivery arrived in London (from Cologne) at 3am, and is apparently out for delivery today.

Confusingly it still says to be delivered 'by' tomorrow, even though it's out today.
