The Apple Store, their staff are ANNOYING!

They still have no idea about in store deliveries. They are a computer and software company who have no clue of their logistics? It's either untrue or unacceptable.

I politely phone up and ask if they have them instore. Last two occasions (last was friday) I phoned I got a very sharp reply 'No'. They are obviously sick of answering the question but it's no reason to be short and abrupt with people wanting to give them money. If you dare ask when they are getting them in then they get all snooty with you.

They lied about shipping dates, they lied about instore availability and now they just don't say anything and if you ask questions they get grumpy with you.

A very frustrating and time wasting situation that I no longer have patience for. SORT IT OUT APPLE!!!!! In the very least be polite to your customers when they are being polite with you!!!!!!!

:mad::mad::mad:

Whilst not condoning being abrupt and rude, I do understand why. Retail Store staff are as knowledgable about delivery of these as everyone of us in this thread.

What I do find truly amazing is that Apple did not ensure that every single Retail Store in the world at least had demo models - and preferably sale units - available last Tuesday, especially when TC ended his presentation with "Available Today" in metre-high letters on the screen.

Thanks for the web address, its showing as Requested delivery date of today.
Really today I don't think I will be holding my breath.... :)

Event Date Description Origin Destination Remarks
18-Jun-2012 14:00:00 GMT Requested Delivery Date
18-Jun-2012 10:11:00 GMT Note to Client Urgent Shipment NPI

Mine shows the exact same thing but its getting late in the day for a delivery. Weird, opaque system. Let me know if yours arrives.

Will do but as you said its a bit late in the day now, Apple are saying it will be here on the 21st so I'm just going to use that date and anything sooner would be great! I still keep checking my tracking info every hr.....:D

Well, their online counterparts aren't much better. Much like many people here, I too have a "your order will be combined" type note in my order page and no readily apparent tracking number (although one did work on the expo site, so thanks much for that tip, lads!). My order was scheduled for the 27th, I ordered on the 11th right when the store opened after WWDC and my Macbook Air shipped on the 14th.

I thought this was both strange and very slow so I decided to ring them up and make sure everything was OK. What an exercise in frustration! The guy who answered the phone gave me a long list of attempted dodges and canned responses ranging from "We released a new Macbook last week so we're upgrading your order free of charge, but it will take a little while!" to "They are very popular so nobody is getting theirs yet, it will take a while for them to ship" while I repeatedly tried to get him to understand that mine has already shipped but the shipping information seemed extremely confusing and lacking.

In the end after escalating to his supervisor and his supervisor's supervisor the best they could come up with was repeating "they are very popular and this is taking a bit of time, so we are very sorry". It's a bit sad that I have to come to Macrumors to learn what's really going on with my order :p

Oh well, I'm sure the Macbook Air itself will be worth the wait but I have to say my recent experiences with Apple's customer service have been pretty negative. Shame, as they used to be excellent a few years ago.

My 15" non-retina has been dispatched today but says it won't arrive until next week the earliest due to putting in a thunderbolt cable.

Page mentions that both items need to go to an address to then be combined.

If I had known this I would of bought the thunderbolt cable separately from the store.

Got a 2nd HDD caddy and 16GB of ram waiting.

More exciting than Christmas. :D

Mine has just switched to 'Out for Delivery' on the Expeditors site, though I still assume it won't come today. Looks good for tomorrow though.

Thanks to everyone who has suggested Expeditors as a source of tracking information.

I've entered my order number into it and the status is showing as: Arrived, no Cleared for Import and has been stuck on that status for over 24 hours.

Earlier this morning an event was raised, "Note to Client / Urgent Shipment NPI". Does anyone know what this means?

Apple haven't got a clue!

Interestingly, if I select the "References" tab I can see approximately ~80 orders of which mine is one so I'm assuming that this one of the boxes on this 223 Kg, 1.3m^3 box is mine. I'm curious as to what else is in that uncleared consignment, surely they can't all be RMBPs in such a relatively small (and heavy!) box?

Same here, don't think it will arrive today but fingers crossed for tomorrow!

I read somewhere else that Expeditors are delivering the item to the end couriers, not you or me. So it is out for delivery to them (UPS or whoever) who will then hopefully drop it with us tomorrow.

My tracking is showing as out for delivery, along with goldstar! Its showing in the comments section. It would be a gold star if I got my rMBP today :)

18-Jun-2012 15:54:00 GMT Out for Delivery Goldstar

***It could be that they have passed it onto http://goldstar-online.couriernavigator.com/tracking/ but my tracking number isn't working on that site :-(***

I get the exact same time and comment using expo, but I'm not getting my hopes up: I think this is delivery to Apple rather than delivery to customers. It would be strange for both times to be exactly the same for both of us. Also the apple tracking hasn't updated and I'm supposed to also be receiving a £70 gift card which I don't think is with the laptop yet. Would be amazing to receive the laptop today, and would allow myself and my wife to finally work from internet cafes together rather than being stuck with infuriatingly slow BT openzone internet at home, but I think we'll be waiting until at very best tomorrow evening for delivery and probably Wednesday/Thursday.

Samsies. It'll prob be towards the end of the week before we see them!

My RMBP is also on that exact package/shipment as well :)

Mine is in that same pallet, because my consignment number brings up the same info...

And NPI means new product introduction.

Brother's in, uh, pallets?

Ahhh, thanks! I had Googled to find out but couldn't find a source/explanation. How did you know? I thought it stood for, "Never Provide Information".

Fingers crossed that customs pulls their fingers out and clears this package! If they're reading this, VAT has already been paid! Release the packages please! :)

Mines going straight back to Apple

My 2.6,8GB,512GB arrived today.:)

Shame it's going straight back as I want the 16GB now that everyone is telling me 8 isn't enough!

Oh well, no point in settling for something

I asked a friend who works high up in UPS. It means they can't allow the customer to collect the package before a delivery attempt, leave it with a neighbour, or change the delivery address.

Getting impatient now - it’s been less then 15 miles away since Saturday, and I'm not going to get it until Thursday by the looks of things...

And by the way, others earlier in the thread were tracking their packages in Feltham - that just means Heathrow.

LOL!

8GB will be enough for anybody :)

And seriously - it almost certainly will be more than enough for almost all the tasks you're going to want to do with it. I went for 16GB only because I run virtual machines and want to allocate 4-8GB each, so OSX gets 8GB and either one VM running Windows 7 with 8GB or two with 4GB each.

But I haven't seen many 512GB SSDs paired with 8GB of RAM, most of the folks going for the high end RMBP have gone for 16GB of RAM IMO.
