I've seen a few others who appear to have their MBPs in the same shipment as mine so if yours was on VIR251 and had the following on Expeditors tracking then I have some info:

21-Jun-2012 14:00:00 GMT Requested Delivery Date
19-Jun-2012 19:55:00 GMT Delivered to Consignee gohill
19-Jun-2012 16:03:00 GMT Out for Delivery GOLDSTAR
19-Jun-2012 12:07:00 GMT Import Customs Release LONDON, ENGLAND (LHR)

The strangest thing about this is the "gohill" remark on the "Delivered to Consignee", but that could just be a driver name.

I also called Apple to ask what will happen next so that I can plan when to be at home and was told that despite me being in London and the MBP being less than 25 miles away at Heathrow it might take another 2-3 days to prepare my order at their distribution centre, give it to a courier and then be delivered to my door.

I understand the process, but surely its more complicated than it need be? I added an ethernet adapter and I also got the student gift card so Apple ships everything to one location (their distribution centre) and sends the whole lot in one box, but this means that the customer has to wait another 2-3 days and I can't imagine it saves them much money compared to shipping the adapter+gift card separately to the MBP, which wouldn't need to be taken to their distribution centre.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Interesting how these are flying to London etc.

I thought Apple's UK base and centre was in Ireland? It's where my BTO iMac went. China -> Ireland. Ireland -> local UPS base -> delivery.

Also, slightly OT but is anybody else's local UPS base miles away? The UPS base here is about 25 miles away and I live in Manchester. Seems odd to have the base right in the sticks of Cheshire rather than around the Manchester area!

Edit: how odd. There are two manchester bases, but for some reason Stockport is covered by the case near Newcastle under lyme, even though the MCR bases are closer.

I'm tempted to try and get the carrier to hold it (probably by asking Apple to do it on my behalf) at their depot so I can pick it up before it spends the night waiting for delivery the following day.

I know this is possible with certain carriers (hoping for UPS), but I think it all rests on Apple's cooperation.

Anyone have any experience with doing this sort of thing?

I called UPS in Reading back in 2009 for my first Macbook Pro (13"). They held it for me and I picked it up the following day.

I didn't want to risk not being in and having to reschedule.

I got the feeling that they don't usually do it, but it's worth calling anyway and asking nicely if this is what you want to do.

All the best,

Mike

My package is on the same consignment as yours, as are at least two others following this thread.

It's got to be merged in the distribution center. If we didn't add extras, it would have come direct from China via UPS.

Mike

You are getting there! :D Just one more day to wait for me.

Also are you any relation to a Jonathan Synnott?

How long did it take you from "Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date" until you received a tracking number? Mine still says delivery by the 25th...

Updated to " In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule "

It took a day before it updated with the ups shipping info and it takes 2 days from when you receive that to get here!

I went to uni with him, and knew he was from Antrim direction, just thought I'd ask as your username was the same name! Lol!

Mine just arrived along with the university voucher in a separate package (which had a separate tracking number despite originating in the same location).

What was your estimated delivery date in the shipment notification email? And what courier did it arrive with?

What stage is yours on?

Processing Items. Dispatch 2-3 weeks. Delivers 4 Jul - 10 Jul :(

That's just plain bloody ridiculous! I've added a TB->Ethernet adaptor and a magsafe adaptor so that means it takes an extra couple of days - Order says "Merge in Transit GB"

Why doesn't it warn when the order is placed that this is what will happen? I would have done the adaptors as a separate order if I'd known even though I'd have to pay shipping.

Edit: I've just looked at the order and it appears that the TB->Ethernet is shipped with the MBP as it appears as part of the machine spec rather than a separate item, so my order will be delayed because of a £9 magsafe adaptor !!!

I agree entirely that they should inform us, but I don't think I would have been able to persuade Apple to send me the £70 gift card as a separate order so I can't really complain about it ;)

They should send items coming from entirely different locations separately to save shipping time (rather than costs by merging).

FFS. I'm in the same boat - ordered the adaptor. Although, mine is still Processing, so bleh.

Mine is still "Processing". Ordered about 15mins after store went up, upgraded to 16GB RAM. Has anyone with the 16GB upgrade gone past Processing? :-(

Do you mean you completely finished the order within 15 minutes of the store going up? Payment and everything?

I ordered the 2.3Ghz with 16GB (did you get 2.6?) and I clicked the final button about an hour after the store went up due to confusion over the student gift card and I think mine will be at my door tomorrow. It's currently with the final carrier, but I still don't know who.

You may want to call Apple and ask why yours might be being delayed. 0800 048 0408 if you want to avoid their premium rate number.

In the last 24 hours mine has been delivered by Expeditors. It has been prepared for "handover to final courier" and is now "In Transit to Customer".

The information about the merge has disappeared from the bottom of the Apple tracking page, however I've still not got UPS/TNT/UKMail tracking info :(

Mine's the same. Some guy a few pages back was saying his RMBP was delivered 2 days after "In Transit to Customer". Hopefully we'll see deliveries by Friday!

Ha! Haven't even noticed that change, thanks for sharing ;-) Must have happend within the last 2 hours for me :)

16-20th July too.

Hoping it is more around the 6th-11th July myself. Apple have always been conservative with delivery estimates. I got my BTO iMac about 3-4 days ahead of the delivery time.

I think we will have the 3-4 week wait for shipping though unfortunately, but their actual delivery estimates are almost always longer than normal if you live in an urban area.

Same here, I don't even know why I keep checking the order status. As if some magic will happen and change the dates, lol!:p

I am hoping for the exact same thing!

All my previous orders of which there are quite a few none of them have shipped early and all have come dead on time for the delivery date specified.

I can but hope though this time it will be different.
