A note for the front door to cover the two periods when I have to head out during the day :p

UPS are under strict instructions from Apple NOT to leave consignments with anyone other than the addressee (in the UK, at any rate).

What's wrong with you people...? Running slow...? I'm still editing video on a G4 powerbook, which is power PC, not Intel, and seven years old. If your four year old Macbook Pro is running slow I can only imagine it's a problem created by yourself. Those are very powerful computers, and easily upgradable in terms of RAM.

Honestly, I wish I knew. The thing is, your connotation of 'running slow' might be different from mine... My MBP is just no longer as snappy as it used to be, even though I've upgraded the RAM from 2GB to 4. Is it not normal for computers to slow down as they age though? Do you reformat your hard drive every few years? Would like to know what you're doing to keep on G4 running in good shape.

Mine departed Tamworth UPS at 1am this morning. I assume it's going to East Midlands Airport as thats the nearest UPS hub. Tried getting the East Midlands Airport information to see when the flight is leaving for Belfast, but their site is down.

So close yet so far!

Have been following this thread over the last few days as I think a lot of us had ours come over in the same shipment.

I thought I would let you guys know how long my base model retina with ram upgrade took to arrive in case it helps any one.

Mine was ordered within 15 minutes of the store coming back up and had a delivery date of 25th - 27th June.

It left Shanghai on the 17th, arrived in London 18th, cleared customs 19th, left to be delivered for merging 19th, picked up by UPS from merging centre 20th and delivered 21st by UPS :)

Just got a long day a work now until I can get home and have a play, think it might drag a bit.

Hope everyone else starts to get theirs soon as it seems in my case Apple were conservative with delivery times.

Tim

Congrats.. When you get the chance to, let us know your impressions. :D

Just been to Storm front to pick up my retina pro! The stores in the UK had 25 delivered today between them.

My first impressions of this new notebook is that the display is absolutely amazing - everything looks crisp and sharp. I've been on the usual UK websites for news headlines and work; there's no problems with text and images that I've come across yet.

If anyone wants to know anything else - just ask.

which model did you order and with how much RAM, Can you try loading a few different programs and check the RAM usage

Stormfront Windsor has a couple 256gb ones in stock. May order mine online as I want the 512gb one with 16gb of ram.

I got the base model, more than enough horsepower. I loaded iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, mail and safari - played around for 15 mins and transferred files etc and still had 3GB of memory free.

What do the speakers sound like? Tim Cook said they are the best ever fitted in a laptop!

They are great quality speakers, he was right!

I'm writing a video and written review as I type this and I'm listening to these speakers - very good quality indeed. Enjoyable to listen to and very un-laptop like.

They are clearly much better than the ones fitted to the outgoing Macbook Pro models, although I don't have a 2012 MBP to compare it to.

25-27. It's now gone to "Shipped, estimate arrival date 29th, sigh. Shipping with "Syncreon" apparently, not heard of them before.

Syncreon are a logistics centre who deal with all Apple's shipments that aren't direct to the customer - and especially those that are combining multiple items in to a single box. They'll then use another courier to get it out to you.

Looks like PC World online has the base RMBP in stock just now http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/apple-macbook-pro-mc975b-a-retina-15-laptop-13730060-pdt.html

(even though the photo seems to be of a classic MBP :p )

Cheers Jackster,

Just ordered one now... it went through checkout and let me tick a delivery date for Saturday morning (23rd) pre Midday... Let's hope it's not an error.

Having gone to the Apple Store in Regent Street every morning since the keynote, I'm crossing my fingers tightly.
