Placed my order through the apple store online last night for finance with Barclays, no doubt the glitch they had today is going to hold up the processing, does anyone know if the first payment will be from yesterday, or a month after delivery? Doesn't look like I'll be getting it for over a month yet!

Well my PC world order from yesterday has 55 mins 59 seconds left to arrive (as I paid for Sat - pre 1200 shipping) and DPD are still saying Awaiting receipt of parcel... nooooo.

Anyone else who ordered from them got theirs yet?

I've been awake since 7 am as I was too excited :)

Garf

UPDATE: Well they now have 9 minutes to get it here... so it looks doubtful to me :( Knew I shouldn't have got my hopes up - Glad I didn't cancel my Apple order yet though.

Has ANYONE from the UK received a maxed out RMBP order yet?

About three hours after the keynote on 11 June 2012 I ordered:-

2.7 Ghz i7
16 GB Ram
768 GB Flash Drive

and delivery estimate is 09 July 2012 to 13 July 2012.

I'm just wondering whether these models are even shipping to the UK at all yet?

Thanks for your reply. I guess its the same for topcashback.. Ill wait for my order to be dispatched before I submit any claim..

Yes once the item is dispatched, the order is completed and funds taken from your credit card. I'm sure that's when they will register the cashback

Finally got a tracking code (4 days late) for my order last night and it was about 2 hours away.

I checked it out this morning and the items are now 20-25 minutes away from me in a UPS depot but sadly they aren't delivering it until Monday.

Thought it would of arrived today but seems it's a no go. Got everything ready for setup and can't wait to get using it.

I'm sure you be one of the first to receive your bto option in the uk.

I ordered the same spec as you on 13th June, and delivery estimate is 12-18th July

I think finance starts usually a month after purchase.I'd be interested to know what the finance is like and how much interest your being charged? I was thinking of doing the same but thought it might be better to get a 0% credit card and bung it on that.

What happen to your PC World order in the end? Did you contact them?

Did anyone else end up getting their's?

Does anyone else here think that the new retina displays are not as bright as the existing displays?

I'm paying just over £400 interest over 3 years, so around £140 a year in interest. I would have applied for a CC but don't think they would allow me the limit I'd need for a MBP as I'm only 20 with a limited credit history. Hope this helps :)

EDIT: This is on a custom-configured MBP with 16gb RAM at a price of £1959.

I did mine on finance as well but my plan is to pay it off within a few months anyway so the extra cost involved in interest should be minimal.

Also thought about getting a 0% apr credit card but like you I don't think they would of given a high enough limit to purchase a mac on it.

That was confirmed by anandtech :)

Yes like you I'm planning on paying it off early, I've selected the 3 year plan but if I can get it paid off within a year I can avoid a hefty portion of the interest and I believe the early repayment fee is quite fair.

Are you sure that you avoid interest if you repay early? Maybe things have changed, but it used to be that you paid ALL the interest even if you repaid early - you would get a couple of months interest knocked off. The reason IIRC was that the whole interest was added to the loan amount at the outset so that was the loan amount.

As i say, maybe it's different now, but I'd check the small print VERY carefully

I maxed out everything minus the extra hdd - so 2.7 / 16 / 512 - it arrived on Thursday after ordering around 9pm on the 11th, so it must be the extra hdd thats holding it up.

Its worth the wait though :)

Here's the part from the finance agreement.

At any time before the final Repayment is due you have a right to pay off some or all that you owe us. You must give us verbal or written notice that you wish to make earlier repayment and, in the case of full settlement, must tell us the date on which you wish to settle. You can contact us at the address shown for us above or on 0844 811 9000. For full settlement we will send you a statement setting out the amount that you owe and the minimum rebate to which you are entitled under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. When you make a partial payment, we will firstly use it to pay any arrears, overdue interest or charges. We will then work out any rebate to which you are entitled and the balance of the early repayment and any rebate will be applied to reduce the Final Repayment and then reduce the term of the agreement. You may ask us to send you a statement.

won't be a problem for me as I run my current MBP 4 steps down from full brightness - unless it is seriously less bright!

The key word there is "minimum" - that doesn't mean all the remaining interest. Have you checked the Consumer Credit Act? You'll find info on the Direct Gov site

I'm not trying to ruin your day, I just want you to be sure you know what you're signing up for while you've still got time to cancel

While 14.9% APR is not bad - my wife has a store card that's pushing 40% (needless to say we pay it off every month!!!) but a bank loan will be cheaper if you can get one

Having a look now and I still have a few days in which to cancel as this has got me concerned and I might just use my existing credit card which is 6.8% APR instead just means I will have to wait maybe now till August for the rMBP!

Got mine from PC World before 12pm yesterday. Frustratingly had already committed to seeing the in laws this weekend so haven't opened it yet!

Going to be home by 4 so will unleash it then.

Hope Garf ended up getting it...

The calculation is not simple, but in the example the total interest is £1320 on a 4 year loan but the rebate is only £376 after 18 months - so better than it used to be, but still a lot of extra interest paid.

Edit: 6.8% is good for a CC - did you mean 16.8?? - but the advantage is that the interest is charged daily so you only actually pay interest for the days you owe money. If you can pay off big amounts per month - say for example, pay the whole amount off in less than a year - it may actually be cheaper despite the higher APR

That makes my head spin! Seriously thinking about cancelling the order and putting it onto my CC at least that way I have more control over the payments.

Bit off topic though!
