PC World still have them in stock.

Hi,

This is just me but unless it is absolutely necessary and/or an exceptionally good deal, I would never usually buy an Apple Computer from the likes of PC World, Currys, Comet etc - rather stick to Apple themselves or a retailer like John Lewis!

Bazzy!

I ordered a custom build with the 16GB RAM on Monday and my order status is 3-4 weeks which is beyond optimistic - my earliest deliver date is 19th July which is 3 weeks and 5 days from now - add in the existing 6 days since ordering and that's more like 5 weeks and that's 6 if you take into account the later delivery date of July 25th.

Of course I hope that Apple will suddenly start shipping these faster than those dates but if I'm honest by the time I actually get my MacBook pro I will have forgotten I even ordered it!!!! That's not an exaggeration as in 3 weeks I won't even be reading this forum out of boredom (no offence intended!)

Did Apple stock pile the new rmbp before being released? I'm just wondering how so many stores are short of stock, woulda thought they would be ready to meet the demand??

Why? You get the same warranty whoever you buy with?

I don't tend to buy anything from PCworld, Currys or Comet as they nearly always seem to be way overpriced, obviously they're aimed at the more mainstream consumer who wouldn't think to go anywhere else but as far as I'm concerned, nearly everything they sell is bumped up well above most other retailer prices.

I agree, but Apple products are the same price? I can't stand PC World however in this case I see no difference.

I got mine for the same price as Apple and I got it within 24 hours - surely that's a win-win situation?!

No you are right, I'm really surprised they're not trying to cash in even more on the launch of the new line, and yes it's win-win especially if they have them in stock sooner than Apple themselves; and as you said, you're still covered by the warranty etc.

It's just everything else they sell that I'm opposed to :D

Anyone seen the Argos advert in today's papers?

MacBook pro 13.3" md313 2.4 i5 4gb 500gb £849

Is this a good deal and current model ?

Apple limit any discounts retailers can give so I expect they also forbid them to bump up the price

it was between the 4th - 10th July

Thanks, Hope you get yours soon.

Looks like we all might have a bit of hope in getting them a little earlier than expected :) I ordered mine on the 13th at 3pm BST and it says 12-18th July delivery - Processing.

RMBP 2.6 / 16GB / 512 SSD - ordered 12th June (10am BST) - now prepared for shipment. :)

Awesome! I ordered mine a few hours after you. Hopefully we start seeing the same status changes for the rest of us. But it's a good sign that an order on the 12th is prepared for shipment.

You got yours already? Ordered mine on Fri for Sat morning delivery and it never turned up - who delivered yours? mine is out with DPD. Not even sure if it's turning up today :(

Livid.

That sucks man I hope you get some compensation from pc world for a messed up delivery.

They've already refunded the £12 delivery charge - but they can't even seem to even find the parcel - I've got them to phone DPD and find out where it is - hopefully I can get them to give me a store voucher or something as further compensation.

Just in case anyone is still trying to track down a base spec rMBP, the iStore in Woking has 3 in stock and has done all weekend. Really surprised to find them not sold out!

I've a BTO on the way so had to pass on this.

Do they offer student discount? Might get one from there as I can be bothered waiting anymore

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. Suggest you give them a call.

The shop is a 5 minute walk from the train station and it's no bother to park nearby.

Good luck!

People saying that pc world/dixons/curries is over priced. I beg to differ. They have some of the best offers on TV's around. Never thought to buy a computer there. But i have personally saved hundreds with them before.
