Hi All,

Went to have a look at the base rMBP on saturday.
Was told by one of the sales staff that the apple store iPhone app will allow you to reserve one if they come into stock.

As of saturday, they've had no stock and the iphone app says "not available to reserve"

Has anyone reserved their MBP using the app?

Going on a work trip today and could pick one up at one of three apple stores i'll be passing!!

The guy in Cov Garden said the same to me. He said that as soon as they're in stock, they will become available to reserve. I have my doubts. Also, there are only 2 models on the reserve system, so if you want a slightly different configuration it won't help

Not all products are reservable, and the rMBP is definitely one of them. Sorry

Have you got anything to back this up?

That's fine, i was only after a rMBP base model anyway, so as soon as one is instock in the stores, i'll pounce!

Might just try ringing when i get near to them, makes most sense...

Did you order any extras such as TB->Ethernet adaptor?

Looks like there are a few of us in the UK who have gone "preparing for despatch" in the last 24 hours. We're going to be shipment buddies by the looks.

Not building my hopes up to receive by this weekend but it would be nice. My order includes the Ethernet adapter and gift card.

Good luck to all others who are waiting.

Do you think ordering any adapters could potentially delay the order further?

Yes, as rather than direct ship to your door it has to take a diverson via Syncreon in Hinckley to be put in a box with the ethernet adapter. Usually adds 1-2 days on to delivery times.

It won't have an impact on shipping out from China though.

That is the thing that really annoys me about the way these orders are handled. We wait weeks for delivery and they add another couple of days for the sake of a couple of adaptors (I've ordered a MagSafe to MagSafe2 as well) that would fit in a small Jiffy bag and could be sent 2nd Class for less than £1 - probably cheaper than the cost of what they're doing

Yes, the order does say it won't be shipped until everything is available but it doesn't mention that the bits are shipped from different places. OK I know now what Merge In UK means but I didn't when I ordered. If they'd made it clear it would increase the delivery time I would have ordered the adaptors separately and been happy to pay the shipping charge although they don't always charge for shipping on small items even though they're less than £80 - I bought an iPad Camera Connection Kit which shipped free.

Interesting well when my new 0% credit card comes through I will not add the thunderbolt adapter to speed things up a little bit.

Tracking my 2.7/16/512 that was shipped on 25/6 via UPS, and after leaving Shanghai (China), it has so far been via Incheon (Korea) and has now just been scanned into Almaty (Kazakhstan)... this laptop is going to be better travelled than me!

I ordered an Ethernet adaptor with mine and it didn't go to Hinckley. It did stop for about a day in Castle Donnington though, so maybe that was for the same reason? Mine went via UPS:

16/6 Shanghai, China
17/6 Dubai, UAE
17/6 Cologne, Germany
19/6 Castle Donnington, UK
20/6 Delivered

just shipped now estimated delivery on the 28th!

Mine has just shipped now too. Expected delivery 3 July. Slowed down a bit by the ethernet adapter and the gift card no doubt.

Going on holiday to California at the end of next week. I have already programmed Infinity Loop, Steve Jobs' house and the garage where it all began into my satnav :D

Looks like possibly the same reason - was your ethernet adapter in the same box? My experience in the past has always been that Merge in Transit happens at Syncreon's facility in Hinckley, but I guess things can change. Apple could, theoretically, be putting some accessories in boxes in China to speed things up, but that hasn't been their methodology in the past.

Castle Donnington is the closest place to East Midlands Airport, so I'm assuming your shipment came in there, and CD was simply the local hub. Hinckley is less than 30 miles away as well, and UPS' distribution centre in Tamworth is only a few miles from that.

I ordered my accessories separately, as usual!

Yep, in the sealed MBP box. I thought they'd forgotten it at first as it was tucked away in the folder containing the user guide pamphlet!

Sounds like that was put there in China. Obviously Apple are trying to speed up delivery, and have guessed that people might want the ethernet adapter with their rMBP and hence built up stocks there. Ordering with, say, a second charger or an external drive will probably still go via Syncreon. Good news for those who ordered ethernet adapters though!

that makes sense as it's listed as part of the machine configuration, whereas the MagSafe adaptor is listed as a separate line item.

When I place an order again I will leave the ethernet adapter off as I still have a trusty MBA 100mbit one laying around and will then buy the thunderbolt ethernet adapter from my local apple/istore.

Wooohooo. Yesterday, it was saying processing and delivery was estimated at between 12th of July and something I can't remember now. This morning it says, "Shipped".

Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) Jul 03, 2012

Shipped to LONDON, GB Jun 25, 2012
