This wait is excruciating. I'm getting mine through a supplier (Disabled Students Allowance, I paid the difference to upgrade) and I was expecting it to arrive this past Tuesday.

Been bugging the guy every day for news since then, last he told me is that their supplier ordered 120 on the first day it was available. They got the 2.6Ghz model in stock last week but now I've been told I might have to wait until the end of next week!

No tracking number to refresh over either, they're getting it "any day now". Not good enough considering I've sold my laptop, TV and iPad to get this!

Maybe the bulk buy is slowing it down?

Does anyone else have a 'Remote Disc' under Devices in the left-hand pane in Finder? It seems to be mounted as there is an Eject option on the context menu, but it won't eject and if you select it, nothing appears in the right-hand pane

Just wanted to give a big thumbs up to Amazon. After weeks of procrastination, ordered my rMBP (2.6/8GB/512MB) from Amazon on Saturday for £2230. Even though it was showing as out of stock when ordered, it was then dispatched Monday.

Monday evening I noticed that the out of stock price had dipped to £2030 - I phoned Amazon to ask for difference refunded, and considering as I was a prime customer, preferred to buy stuff from them rather than marketplace sellers, they agreed!

Fantastic customer service, and if you aren't bothered about bto options, I heartily recommend them.

It was delivered yesterday as expected.

Thrilled with it, what an upgrade from the late 2009 MBP!

Thats a very good deal, how comes amazon can offer a discount? I can see my rMBP is down to £1644.94??? I think I'll return mine and order on Amazon!

Have you got another Mac on the network that has a superdrive?

Pretty sure it's that...

This thing really is FRIGHTENINGLY fast.

I just highlighted 27 apps from my application folder (including Aperture, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband and iTunes) and double clicked to launch them all.

All 27 were open and ready to use in.... 4.5 seconds.:eek:

I wondered about that. I used Migration Assistant to clone my old MBP and that does indeed have a SuperDrive. Also, the icon for this Remote Disc is a CD.

Guess I can just right-click and Remove From Sidebar?

If you check your order status on the Apple website it will have a button that says Track next to your order. Click that and it gives you another page with a status of the order - on there you should get some numbers in which your tracking number is one :)

Mine was sent direct with UPS so I was able to use the UPS website, however some have used:

http://expo.expeditors.com/expo/Login.jsp?status=default&browserVersion=nav6up

Hope that helps! I am still waiting on mine - its in the UK but not got it yet :(

Is your old MBP turned on? The "remote disk" allows your new MBP to access another mac's SuperDrive.

I played that game too - fun isn't it? :D

I've also got XP and Win7 running under VMWare and they start up blisteringly fast too - the blue progress bar on the XP splash screen is almost a blur :p

They were both on earlier, but it still didn't do anything. Mind you, there wasn't a disc in the other MBPs SuperDrive. So if I just leave it there I can use the other MBPs SuperDrive if ever I need to read a disk?

I've also got this in the left hand pane and can't eject it. Must just be there incase we connect to a remote drive.

Oh and for anyone who wants a mac compatible cd drive, I just bought this and it works perfect with my MBRr with a single USB : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SE-...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1341523791&sr=1-1 :)

Backing up my current MPB onto a different HDD so that I can use my normal one for my RMPB when it arrives tomorrow. Has 7 hours left! - looks like it will be an overnight job!

It seems Apple refunded my payment. I called customer care and the guy i spoke with told me my card gets charged when the rMBP is shipped. Was this the case with everyone else's order?

As you said I don't think it's a good idea to give out my contact at Apple. He must already be annoyed by me pesking him on a weekly basis.

I order the base model and upped the ram 2.3/16/256 with education discount.
If it is supposed to move from preparing to ship within 48h, it must be happening anytime today!!!!

Apparently they are going to offer me some kind of an additional gift card because they made a mistake and wanted to make up for it as well. I just love Apple! :)

Good tip: always be nice to the person taking your order! ;)

Glad you agree about not giving out his details =) we mustn't take this kind of thing for granted! Pestering him could even put his job at risk. Apple really are amazing at customer service though - when they mess up, they do their best to rectify it.

Definitely always be nice to a phone rep. They are, after all, people too. They are just following protocol and it isn't their personal fault that your Macbook is late, or whatever. It's just common courtesy. Be nice to them, and hell, they're more likely to treat you like a human being in return!

Hope yours shipped mate!

I ordered on 18th too...base model, none of the extras. Quoted 16th-20th, so, hope this is a sign mine will be shipping soon. Congrats on the shipping =)

Yup, pretty sure that's right.

They do an authorisation which "holds" the amount - it comes off your available credit figure so when the finally take payment on shipping there is guaranteed to be enough available.

Some CCs put the amount back on your available credit if the payment isn't taken in a certain time. This happened to me after about a week

It also seems that different CCs do this differently. Some do what I described above, others appear to actually show it as a payment and then refund it based on what people have posted.

Hope yours shipped mate!

Mine just SHIPPED! Got the e-mail while taking photos of the Shard light show!^^ (That must be a good sign)

Been wondering why my new rMBP has been doing wacky things when I'm using the trackpad

Just remembered, it supports 3- and 4-finger gestures - my old one only supported 2-fingers duh!

I ordered the same rMPB (plus massafe and ethernet adaptor) on the 17th, and it's just shipped... :)

Yay! Mine says 'Departure Scan' from my local hub - which I guess means that it's out for delivery. Read here yesterday that two other peoples said that instead of 'Out for Delivery'.
