Blast! Just got my iPhone from the Glasgow store.

Week: 43
Panel: 7459072
Dead Pixels: 0
NegBlack: No

Damn thing is perfect. I'm going to miss out on all the fun I could have had whining and moaning... ;)

You must be bitterly disappointed :D

Stand in George Square and you'll get a Cloud hotspot. I used that location to register my iPhone onto their network earlier this week.

Week 43
7455232 screen

All other tests passed ok (pixels/grey/gradient/neg black)

If you look off centre from the top (in landscape) you can see an ever-so-light yellow tinge.

Having been through three really useless MBP screens (SR LED-backlit). I'm not going to worry about this. I'd consider my phone to be 'perfect' as no image I view looks washed out like some of the images I've seen. If I take this back my luck will be that I'll get one of the 7455232s that looks bad.

There is a real danger with these type of tests. As no doubt you are all aware. I hope those with real probs get a satisfactory result.

Can those of you with 7459072 screens please let us know where you got them from?

My US iphone has that panel and it is beautiful while my UK phone has the other panel and although it is ok - it is clearly inferior to the 7459072 screens!

I know if I take my phone back to O2 where I live I will get the same crappy panel but if I knew there was somewhere near me with the better panels I could go there to change it...

So far we know the Glassgow Apple Store has the better panels but that is no where near me! so where else have those of you with good screens got 7459072 screens? Thanks.

If you wanna check your panel number then dial *3001#12345#* and press call then click on versions and you will see the panel ID.

Hey, my LCD panel ID is : 7459072

I've had no problems with it and have done all the usual tests - seem flawless.

I got mine from the 02 shop on opening night on Princes Street, Edinburgh.

7459072 is the same panel number as my US iPhone screen so I am sure anyone with that has a great screen without the negative black and without a yellow tint to it...

You know that is SO annoying! I was in Edinburgh on Wednesday (to see a friend) - I even went into that shop! but I thought there was no point changing it as they would have rubbish panels as well!

Ironic! Where else have people got their good panels from? Maybe somewhere near me so I can go get a great screen instead of a decent one! Im from Sussex in case anyone is wondering!

I have a 5755136 panel and the colours and gradients are perfect on it.

Bought from Glasgow Apple Store on release day.

The display models are all 7 series screens as are the replacement handsets they offer for exchanges.

I'm surprised that there are any 5 series screens out in the UK. I'm sure your aware that those screens were on the original US iPhones and are supposed to be the best screens out there!
It seems like all the good screens are in Scotland!

How did you get series 5 screens? I thought those were only for the original $599 batch of iPhones?

I think the two people I queued with also got 5 series screens so there must have been stock available to Apple.

When I compared my screen to the demo unit iPhones in the store today there was no competition, the 5 series was IMHO visibly better.

Oh yea, I have one on my 4 Gig iPhone I got on closeout when Apple was getting rid of them for $299... beautiful screen.

I would love to know if Scotland has the monopoly on the good screens or somewhere closer also has the good 7 series or 5 series screens so I can swap mine for a good screen.

The phones all come in batches so its logical to assume that where there is one good screen there are plenty of them - so apple in glassgow and o2 in edinburgh are good places to get iPhones! but what about the rest of this country?

I wish there was someway to reduce the lottery when returning phones and swapping them - I think this method is best although not the more efficient... if we can find where all the good screens are then we can get ours swapped on the good batches of phones but everyone needs to take part if you have a good screen or its a pointless exercise.

Surely it would be in Apple's benefit to correct this problem. It must be costing them more $$ to sort out the mess, than it saved outsourcing crappy components ?

I mean there should be NO difference in screen quality if they are being produced in the same factory, so I can only assume there are different manufacturing plants involved.

Apple need to sort it. Until they do I'll stick with my N95

Thats a bit closer seeing as its London - what store was it from? O2 or CPW?

Please everyone keep them coming!

Lets find all the good screens and swap our rubbish ones over!

You know I look at the screen on my US iPhone and then at my UK iPhone and I feel dissapointed with it...

I mean I can't see the dead pixel and the yellow tint is only noticable when comparing it with the US iPhone
and as far as the dodgy blacks go I just do not watch enough dark scenes to notice it normally.

Yet I know its not quite right and I would like to change it for a screen that is right.

It is a real shame Apple don't have a list of models and screen IDs so we can know what we are getting before we get it.

If you are swapping the phone in a Apple store then you get to see the handset they are giving you. They are service handsets so come in their own small unsealed box.

The replacement handset I was shown in Glasgow yesterday had a terrible screen which barely displayed any difference between grey and black in the appleservedup tests. It was a 7 series screen but I did not note the full number.

The service stock does differ from the shelf stock. I'm guessing the service stock are refurbished returns?

well, I'm in Germany and my week 43 iPhone also has the absolutely brilliant and perfect 7459072 screen, as does my friend and besides that I haven't heard of any problems with screens here in Germany.

Perhaps the Apple bod I dealt with gave me a good iPhone because of the grizzly death I promised them if I was fobbed off with a dud? ;)

Seriously... I had a chat with the assistant before I made the purchase, and I explicitly asked about returns/swapping out in the event of a bad screen (politely noting that manufacturing defects do happen, even with the best products). Perhaps knowing that (unlike the average man in the street) I was aware of possible issues, he decided to fish out a week 43 iPhone from the back of the shop (he did take a few minutes getting it) to reduce the chances that I'd be back looking for a replacement. Or perhaps I just got lucky. :D

my phone with the 7455232 screen (which isnt that bad but isn't as good as my US iPhone and does have the problems I mentioned before) is a week 42!

The previous phones were week 43 and 44 phones - all of them with the same problems!

Anyone else get good screens? and what town/city and shop did you get them from?

UK iPhone:
Week: 43
LCD: 7455232
Deadpixels: 0
NegBlack: No
Bought: CPW in Newcastle

As posted in another thread, my UK wk43 with a 7455232 panel has no dead pixels and no negative blacks.

It displays blacks and dark greys just as well as my MacBook, and much better than my Dell PC at work (I hadn't realised just how bad that was until I ran this greyscale test on it!)

My iPhone was bought at 18:16 on Nov 9th (launch day) in the Birmingham Bullring Apple Store.
