I'm going to buy outright. Have some rolling minutes and credit left over on my PAYG O2, then I will try Three. If they are no good in my area I'll dump them after a months and try something else.

I'm still on the old O2 PAYG plan where unlimited data was free for the first year and your bolt-ons could roll over.

O2's reception is patchy in the West Midlands, I'm also fed up with dropped calls and network busy errors. Data in the evening drops to 100kB/s. Forget O2 when people leave for lunch or at the end of the day, business opposite my house has 6,000 people, network goes down at these times. I'm guessing they are switching their phones on or calling their hubbies.

Don't be scared to move mobile provider, you may find a cheaper deal. If you are already with a provider and are out of contract, haggle. It costs providers money to attract new customers and they don't want to lose you, you can always push for a better deal than advertised.

go to Three if you use alot of minutes and use alot of DATA (and may use alot of tethering- hotspot)

UK Apple 4S price options announced by Three

We prefer the unlimited data options, so instead you should look at the options on “The One Plan”, these give you 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and all-you-can-eat data, however you do have to pay some upfront cost (ranging from £49 to £279) – all of the deals on The One Plan will cost you either £35 or £45 per month.
We doubt that any UK carrier will undercut these prices by a lot, however when we hear prices from Orange, O2, Vodafone etc we will keep you posted.

I'm hoping tesco repeat their tariffs from last year.

They were the only network to offer a decent 12 month offer.

Would three ever catch up to O2 with their unlimited internet data plan?

and cheap tariffs and improving customer service?

well someone had a great deal today-

Three waived the cost of early termination fee as long as the person upgraded their tariff.

All very confusing!

Really hate the way O2 price up their tariffs without the data - who is going to buy an iPhone without data?!

Was very tempted by Three; had a three phone back when they launched in 2003 - a horrendous experience with their LG phone which broke constantly and calls dropped etc. Have since heard more positive things and the option for unlimited data is key. I may not use over 1GB each month at the moment, but in two years time? Over the next two years I expect various offerings and improvements to ramp that need up.

Vodafone were great customer service and was with them for many years before moving to O2 for the iPhone. Liked Vodafone a lot, but pricy for it.

O2; customer service is good, but have a fair amount of trouble in central london with signal disappearing or lack of 3G.

If all were priced and offering the same, I'd go Vodafone; then O2; then Orange; then three. But they're not, and Three are significantly ahead simply by offering all-you-can-eat-data.

Initially I used to only get 1gb of datA with three before I got the unlimited tariff.

Sometimes I used to just go over 1gb in a month-simple browsing net/YouTube.

But once I started using tethering I started using much more.

The unlimited data helps alot I still check and reset on settings how much data I use.

Last month I used 1.6GB Data-without the worry of costing me more.

Once you people do get iPhone 4s you will be using more data in the same amount of time which you used to.

People on O2 are they just dumb of what for wasting their money.

So many complaints about O2 sending text for over using data and loads of extra cost.

Also on three you cam cap going over £0.00 other networks you can only cap £10.00 minimum on O2.

I use between 1gb and 5gb a month just doing normal iPhone stuff. Streaming Netflix, Pandora, Shoutcast, Hulu, other apps, etc, and the peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about how much data you're using is definitely worth being on three so that the unlimited data plan cost compared to the 1Gb tiered plan.

I'll keep my unlimited data plan as long as I can because data is only going to get more sensitive from here on out. Especially with iCloud. My network will ALWAYS be whoever can offer me unlimited data.

Three offer unlimited data and tethering and the cheapest and one of the fastest.

----------

I can Garuntee that those that join three from O2 will want to stay with three and would say three are cheaper/better option.

I ordered iPhone 4S yesterday, and waiting for a new Simplicity plan for 4S in O2. I guess O2 tries to offer better payg option.

You guess...O2 caps on data.

Three has unlimited data.

Seems like three are closing the gap on O2...I can see three overtaking on this forum.

Still can't decide what I want to do! If 3 had Quidco on their 16GB models it would be a no brainer but as good as their 32GB deal is, I don't need the extra storage.

The last time I used the 3 network was about 4 years ago, absolutely horrendous coverage, no customer service, and a totally useless hand set. Thanks to that amazing experience with 3 I will never, ever go back to that network.

Things might have changed at 3, but I'm betting theres quite a few people in my position. In my mind 3 will always be a below par network provider who can only attract people by offering low prices.

It has changed enormously in that 4 years, 3G coverage now knocks all others into a cocked hat.

I am not considering Three due to previous experience with restrictions on what could be viewed on the internet and general concerns about the variation there seems to be in signal quality and customer service experiences. Now that is out of the way...

4S on it's way and looking at a sim-only package for this new 'phone and an existing iPhone 4 - 2 'phones in the house and many calls will be between these two iPhones. Tethering would be nice.

GiffGaff are obviously great value at £10 per month for sufficient calls and texts with unlimited data but it would be nice to have the option of tethering. It doesn't look like they are anywhere near allowing tethering and the data option that is about to be released that would allow tethering would not include any calls or texts...

O2 would cost £16.50 per month for unlimited texts, 100 minutes plus 100 further minutes to O2 numbers, with 500Mb data and tethering allowed. £20.50 for 1Gb data.

Tesco, which is using O2, would cost £15 per month for 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500Mb of data. £17.50 for 1Gb of data.

The options outlined above would provide sufficient calls and texts based on current useage. It seems that Tesco offer an excellent deal, although HulloMail would be required (as is the case with GiffGaff) as there is no Visual Voicemail.

Questions:

1. Does Tesco allow tethering on the options indicated above.

2. Does anyone have any feedback on using Tesco? Anything else that I should be aware of when comparing Tesco to O2?

3. Any other deals that should be considered?

UPDATE:
Just spoken with Tesco and apparently they do not allow tethering at all... Down to O2 if tethering is required or GiffGaff if not it would seem.

giffgaff also DONT have unlimited tethering.

THree have unlimited tethering.

Three AIO Plan is all you need when it comes to the iP5 as you get unlimited tethering for upto 5 devices and access to Spotify Premium for the duration of the contract. :D

How do you get access to Spotify, can't see any mention on the Three site.

on the three site it just states unlimited data.

spotify - its a name the previous post just made up to make the name cool.

The actual name on the iphone settings section is HOTSPOT.

you just click yes on hotspot if you have IOS 4 and you should be good to go.

LOL thanks for the reply but Spotify Premium is a music service, not just some other name the poster made up in place of iOS Personal Hotspot.

The Three site only details 2 month free access to Spotify Premium, not unlimited permanent access as the previous poster stated.

No... really...?! You mean like I said in my post?

Seriously, your relentless promotion of Three is a bit much.

Was that a serious post or just ignorance?

I looked at My O2 yesterday and it said I could fast track upgrade for £47. So this is what I was planning to do on launch day. Looked this morning, and the fast track upgrade page had disappeared. Phone customer service and they said the company had changed this overnight and customers who paid £40 and over were the only ones who could fast track. So I hung up, mulled over my options... Then realised how annoyed I was with O2.

Firstly, they take forever to announced prices which aren't any better than the other operators. Secondly they still haven't announced Any early upgrade offers. Thirdly their tariffs have gone up £2 for some reason. And fourth, they were asking their customers to queue outside a shop on launch day when every other operator was allowing pre orders online. So I rang O2 back up... Asked to cancel my contract. They were trying to do everything to keep me but worked out even if O2 did do the offer they did last year, still wouldn't be worth staying with those cretins. So it's cost me £60 to terminate my contract. That will come through in November. My contract terminates on 7th November with O2 and I have ordered the 4s in Black, 16gb on Orange with 1gb Internet, 300 mins and unlimited texts. Ordered via the Carphone Warehouse and had the confirmation for delivery on 14 October. :)

Didn't want to leave O2, but their iPhone 4s preparation has been shoddy, and don't think they are looking after their customers good enough. Farewell O2, hello Orange.

This is another reason why I'm telling others to leave O2 expensive and go to any other network preferably three or giffgaff as thru are the cheapest.
