Definitely going to go for the 38mm. Looks pretty stupid if it's too big for your wrist.

I think this is a great guide and applies perfectly to me. I am in the "B" category and when I tried the watch on at the store it was apparent there was no wrong answer. The 42 had the trendy bigger watch look and the 38 was more subtle and traditional. I opted for the 38. (I'm still waiting for my order to process.)

I thought I would post some pics for others to reference.

Judging by your card pic, it looks like your wrist is very similar in width to mine. You're in the "B" category. Therefore I would suggest you pick whichever one appeals to you most. I think both look fine. It's totally personal preference at this point. We're lucky in that we can wear either size and pull it off.

For me, the 42 just didn't feel right and the 38 looked better to me. But I'm more of a traditional kind of guy and not too trendy.

After reading about so many people getting the 42, I second-guessed myself and made a second trip back to the Apple store and tried the two sizes again. All I did was confirm that the 38 is what I wanted. Then I found this thread and it confirmed my decision.

I think you should go with the 38mm. The 42mm looks huge imo.
Your wrists seems to be like mine, so I hope, that the 42mm also looks like that on my wrist, when I'm going to the Apple Store checking the bigger Watch. (Would confirm, that I chose the right size )

38 looks way better on you - 42 looks jumbo.

I haven't tried it on and now i'm getting worried - did I order the watch too large? mabye if I fit a 38 I can upgrade to a SS....

Doesn't mater, both watches have the smart watch look. The fact that it always has a black screen and is square and thick will always give it the smart watch look.

I find both sizes fit nicely. Need some advice on which you guys think look better. I'm on the fence here. Thanks!

Very helpful post, surprised MacRumours didn't use this on the main page!

I was in section A - but was always going to go with 38mm anyway.

I am surprised how Apple haven't provided more real life galleries of the :apple: Watch in use, it would really help to see what band works in a fashion sense.

38 mm SS Milenanse Loop has my vote!

Managed to try on a 38mm but seemed so small, I wanted to get 38 as in images it looked the best but not sure now!

Might just order 42mm and hope it's ok lol

So - according to the "credit card guide" I am a 'B' with a very slight wrist overhang (my wrist is just slightly larger than the CC but not to where it would be a 'C').

This is my 42mm Sport. Before it arrived I did go to the Apple store to check sizes and immediately both the sales lady and I thought the 38mm looked just a tad small. When my 42mm arrived my wife also though it looked like a perfect fit (and she would not be shy to say otherwise).

Anyway - I think it looks like the right thing for my wrist. And I am wary of having it look like a gadgety or like a tech toy. The 38mm just made my wrist look bulky when it was on.

Thanks for your post! did you measure the credit card only on the top of your wrist or did you take into account the bottom?

Your wrist sounds to be about the same width as mine, but the 42mm definitely looks better on you than it did on my wrist. Looks good!
