But did you see the picture in this post?

The ultra is just peeking out slightly from under the shirt, nobody could tell it wasn't a regular watch unless they got really close. So unless you take off your jacket and roll up your sleeves to meet a client or eat dinner, I doubt you'd look like a buffoon, because no one would notice.
The cuff looks tight in that picture. I would think it to be very comfortable under a cuff for the entire day. My shirts are not cut so generous and I have trouble fitting 12 mm comfortably under my cuffs. Also, it looks too bulging to me but it is hard to really tell in the picture.

Just slap a more business style band on it and will be good to go. Leather or metal.

Or don’t and fakkk anyone else’s feelings about your watch.

Me, personally, I’m gonna wear the hell out of it for any occasion. Work, sports, runs to the supermarket, weddings and funerals… oh and can’t forget Thanksgiving at grandma’s.

It’s still a well crafted Titanium watch with a couple obnoxious orange markings. No biggie.
I'm the 72 YO granddad and my wife the grandmom wears an Apple watch... ;)

i just want to remind everyone here. If you ever see someone out wearing a suit, and they have on an apple watch ultra. And YOU are like, "ew, this guy doesn't understand fashion"...then its YOU who is the weird one. Just a reminder lol

it’s obnoxious and i love it. i love that people see a watch over a grand sitting on my wrist. in addition to it being the latest tech. anything like a rollie to me is for grandpa.

I understand that when you to to a royal event in the UK that AWU might not be your first choice, and I also know and have experienced that the business world has different "expectations" in various countries/regions ... but man, I wear shirts and slacks to work and I'm overdressed - I LOVE California :):)

But how do manufactures decide what qualifies as a dress watch? That is a subjective standard, even if it's a standard shared by many. You are free to accept that standard, but by the same token, other people are free to reject that standard. And both sides would consider the other unfashionable ignoramus. There's no objective way to resolve such a dispute, because fashion is subjective.
I get what you're saying but disagree in this context because the size of a dress watch has utility -- it's not just all about subjective aesthetics. Dress watches are traditionally thin with a dial of 36 mm -- these days probably around 40 mm or less -- with a thickness of 10 or 11 mm or less. They are intended to fit comfortably under a shirt cuff of a well-tailored shirt and to be relative light for ease of wear. If you have ever worn a thick watch with a dress shirt for a long period of time, you will know that a such watch stresses the cuff and often will fray the fabric -- thus shortening the lifespan of the shirt. This has happened to several of my shirts in the past.

I understand that men do not wear suits often. This obviously allows people the option to wear large sport watches more regularly, which has been the trend for over a decade. But the question in this thread has to do with the Ultra while wearing a suit -- presumably in a professional setting relatively often. For such a use case, the Ultra, due to its share size is not practical and I think it looks bad. It is obviously designed to be a sports watch and there really is no way around that fact.

Saw this mentioned briefly in another thread, but if im
Spending 800$ I need this to be my every day watch.

Ok to wear with suit? I wear one almost every day at work (clinic)
You've had lots of replies - here's mine: whether it's suitable (pardon the pun) is totally up to you. Bigger question: will it fit under your shirt cuffs? Seriously, it's a pretty tall watch (14.4mm per Apple's website).

er. Perhaps we have a different definition of "suit"? I was thinking of
'business suits" like the ones men wear in offices every day. Are you perhaps thinking of more dressy suits worn for formal occasions?

Looking back at the OP, he does mention he wears suits every day for work. So the question appears to be if the ultra is appropriate to wear in every day business setting, not whether it's appropriate for formal wear.

No, I didn’t say it looked good vs bad with a suit. In that thread, I said that you’re being judged and if doing business, the richer you look, the more successful you look. The more successful you look, the better chance of closing a business deal and I was specifically talking about Hermes because their bands are something special.

The aluminum AW does not look like anything special. Kids are walking around with them. You may not agree but we don’t have to agree.

So yes, I think the SS and Ultra do/will look BETTER with a suit.
In my business settings, no one cares about your Apple Watch. The Hermes one is still dirt cheap compared to mechanical watches (says Patek, A Lange). No one cares about it. No one judges you wearing normal aluminum Apple watches.

We had the same discussion as the original Apple Watch came to market.
And yes, they can both be worn with a suit. Of course it depends a little bit on the band (but also orange in a Board Meeting is not impossible these days).
I work in a big company (>100k employees) and also the top management changed to a more “relaxed” look in the past years. Now sneakers with a suit are absolutely normal here, Apple Watches everywhere (also Garmin and Polar and so on), so the Ultra will fit just fine in the business environment. For really formal meetings we have our Panerais somewhere lying around… (but they also have a sporty touch)

Man how iconic was it when Boyz II Men wore those Concord Jordan XIs with the fitted suits? Just wear the Apple Watch Ultra with confidence and it will go with anything.

Of course no one cares. Show up with a blue or red Aluminum Apple Watch and a Hello Kitty band on it to a business setting. Make sure to display for all to see. People that judge usually don’t discuss it with you so you wouldn’t really know about it.

everyone else in this thread is taking the position that appearances don’t matter. But the question itself presumes otherwise: it’s clear OP does care what his appearance says about him, or he wouldn’t have asked. (My own view as someone who has to wear suits often is that it matters to the extent the opinions of your colleagues/clients matter. People judge you by how you look. Sorry, people are shallow, and that’s life. If you’re a professional wearing a suit at your place of work, yes your appearance does matter or you wouldn’t be wearing the suit in the first place.)

So with that said: sorry, it doesn’t go with a suit. It looks like what it is, which is a sport watch, not a professional watch.
I agree with this completely. I would also ask, what extreme activity would one be undertaking wearing a suit. Image in certain occupations is key, one doesn't need one's clients wondering what thought process dictated that a Gym/swim/dive/run/climb watch is worn for the office.

Ultimately it is up to the wearer.

So you’re judging those who think about being judged. 🤔

Pity is sympathetic sorrow. There can be sympathy, empathy, sadness, understanding, etc. SMH.

You can attach your judgement to your feelings, if that's what you want and seem to always point out the thoughts of being judged. ⚖️

As someone who has worn multiple Tag Heuers over the past 25 years and worked for 10-15 of those years in a suit…that was then and this is now.

I’m hopeful I won’t even wear a suit to a funeral and I for sure won’t be wearing one to work. I do however put a lot of effort towards nice looking sport coats, shirts, pants and shoes.

When the Apple Watch first launched there was zero chance I’d wear one. They were small, almost dainty.

I bought the Series 7 in titanium (it’s for sale) last year and for the first time, my Tag watches have just sat. I got the Ultra on Friday and while it’s not going to look that great with an alpine, trail or dive band with a sportcoat it will look great with a Sport Braided Loop and even a darker blue Sport Loop. I actually think I may sell one Tag…(other one is our wedding gift to each other).

I’d still love a Rolex Datejust. The matte stainless look is timeless for sure but…so what?

Sympathetic sorrow in your case. For everyone else, it’s judgement.

I pity the insecure people who think about being judged by others.
Serious question for all the responses of this type: do you think it doesn’t matter at all what you wear with a suit, or it does matter but an Ultra is ok? I can understand the latter argument (those who think the Ultra looks fine with a suit). I disagree, but it’s subjective.

The former point, I don’t understand at all. The point of wearing a suit is to look a certain way in a certain setting. If you don’t care how you look, why would you wear a suit to begin with? There certainly are cheaper and more comfortable outfits. I can’t understand going to the trouble and expense of wearing a nice suit and then pairing it with things that don’t match.
