It's a watch, does it matter if its sporty, chunky, classy type looking watch with a suit or button down shirt? Who cares what you wear with the Ultra/Apple Watch. I've been to weddings wearing my Apple watches with sport bands. There is no code for the type of watch you have to wear in an office setting, suit etc. I mean people wear Jordans in suits...wear what YOU like with the Ultra watch and if you care what people think, then don't wear it or don't buy it. I just think it's funny there is 5 pages about this topic and I'm adding to it LOL

interested to so who is buying this watch to wear as a daily watch with a suit rather than for sports activities.

Clearly, you don’t have a strong grasp of Watch culture. I won’t be visiting the surface of the moon or diving to 300 meters anytime soon, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my Seamasters and Speedmaster with my Hong Kong and London tailored suits back when I dressed that way routinely.
I’d highly recommend a neutral strap or the link bracelet.
The original Apple stainless link bracelet is certainly the way for me. I have a formal event this evening and I haven’t the slightest concern about that combination.

I wore scuba flippers to a funeral instead of shoes -- you know, because I like it and I just do not care what I look like. /s

OP, I would consider what your workplace is like, or if you’re a freelancer, what your clients are like.

There are anecdotes of offices where people wear suits and ties but digital watches are completely A-OK. And then there are offices where digital is frowned upon.

My dress shirt cuffs comfortably cover the whole watch with an Ocean band. They have two buttons, and this is with the looser one. Or I can have the watch sticking out a bit. And the Midnight color looks fine with a suit. Not much different from the Sports bands I’ve been wearing since the first AW.

Very premium. Awesome.

The Ultra looks just fine with a suit. The band you wear with it is going to make all the difference of course.

However regarding the Ultra, it simply does not fit comfortably under any of my dress shirt cuffs. I just tried with the ocean band along with a sport band and braided solo loop from my previous AW. This is a real shame and there isn't any way to avoid this, at least for myself.

I love everything else about this watch though.

Saw this mentioned briefly in another thread, but if im
Spending 800$ I need this to be my every day watch.

Ok to wear with suit? I wear one almost every day at work (clinic)
I think the only time that you should have pause for concern is if you are 120 pound lady in a sleek gorgeous evening gown that is yellow, at that point you should wear the watch is a necklace instead of and not around your wrists.

I don’t care what anyone else thinks. But when I‘m sitting at the bar and I look at those hideous holes, it annoys me. I’ll never wear the Ultra with a suit or any time I want to look nice.

I wish Apple had stuck with the long slot vs the holes.

If you’re sitting at the bar with people who shop at REI and go on hikes they might ask, “oh, is that the new Ultra?”

It's an Apple Watch. It's going to look good regardless of whether you are in a formal setting or exercising. That's the whole beauty and allure of Apple products.

Who dictates the norm on what matches with what these days? Aren't we done with seeking other people's approval in this day and age?

If I can wear my more oversized IWC titanium watch in formal and casual settings - this Ultra is peanuts to wear. Let alone the ability to change the face to various analog and digital looks.

The only thing that matters is respecting the rules of the event itself. If they say black tie, tux, no digital watch, no rubber soles, etc. Then that's what you should follow.

I think that wearing the Ultra with the beautiful stainless steel link bracelet is similar to wear a RMW diver like a Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster. In 2022 you can do it, I think. Just don’t use this kind of watch for formal events, in my opinion, like marriage, black tie event and similar. My 2 cents.

Wonder how many in this discussion saying the days of "clothing matters" is over wear their pants low with their underwear showing.

On the sizing of the Ultra - the gold standard is Rolex. The Ultra is 14.4 MM thick. On this page, the thickness of the Rolexes is noted. 11 MM to 17.7 MM with most in the 12 MM and some in the 15 MM thicknesses. Seems like the Ultra isn't that bad:

I guarantee most people buying this watch have it because it's the newest shinny thing from Apple, and they will never use the features of it.
