Has this been confirmed to work everywhere in the U.S.?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 5s to use with AT&T GoPhone and want to be
sure that LTE works with the full price Verizon model. Otherwise, I'll just get the
SIM-free version (but have to lose the CDMA functionality).

Thanks!
m.
Yes it has been confirmed. You won't have a problem.

You have to use a US credit card and the $199 price is for a 2 year contract. How are you going to pay the 2 year contract?

You would be better off ordering a full priced Verizon iPhone directly from the Verizon site and have it shipped to your friends house. There is a thread here how to buy the Verizon phone full price.

If your friend is in the US, have him walk down to the local Apple Store and buy an unsubsidized Verizon iPhone 5S, which already comes unlocked.

Does the Verizon phone work on other CDMA carriers? The CDMA doesn't use a SIM card like GSM, so wanted to know.

Great thread & thanks for all the helpful follow-up. A couple of questions, and apologies if they've been asked & answered. (Read through thread but didn't see them).

Current VZW customer with 2 lines, both on month-to-month. If we upgrade our current iPhones 4 to iPhones 5s at full price (device only) and stay on VZW, would we be able to move to another network at some point on a BYOD plan? Besides hating cell phone contracts, my thought is to have max flexibility to move from VZW to T-Mobile. From reading here, it seems that a Verizon iPhone 5s can be used to its full extent on T-Mobile who needs some more build-out in my area & nationally before I'd consider switching from VZW.

Also, we should be able to go into the Apple store & get new phones, right? No need to go to VZW for this? A local mall has both outfits so either is pretty easy for us to do.

Thanks in advance!

Your plan is sound. You can get your phones at Apple just fine. Also, your Verizon 5Ses will have total compatibility with T-Mobile (and AT&T and Verizon). Since you mentioned "max flexibility to move from VZW to T-Mobile" why bother paying full price for the device? T-Mobile will pay your ETF if you trade in your iPhone 4 and you can just keep the 5S. They'll require you to buy one of their phones on EIP, but there are some very cheap phones ($50-100, $3-7 per month via EIP) you could buy on T-Moblie (then just switch the SIM into your Verizon 5S).

Cheaper to do that, I think.

But no LTE, right?

i7guy,

Sorry this took so long but what part of "everything" didn't you understand?
Visual Voicemail, LTE, 3G, every single thing about the phone and networking worked on AT&T's network.

Do you work for Verizon or what? Sounds like you don't want to believe this. Try it for yourself if you can afford to.

I am aware that Verizon claims that they phone will NOT work on other networks, but that is not true. I even called their customer service to ask before I bought it, and tech support told me it wouldn't work. They lied because it does!

The model that I bought is as follows:
Identifiers: iPhone 5c - ME553LL/A* - iPhone5,3 - A1532 - 2644*

I can confirm this(although I don't think I needed to). My wife recently switched from Verizon to AT&T and simply brought along her iPhone 5s. It functions exactly as my AT&T iPhone 5s does, including LTE.

Just thought I would add my findings here. I bought the t-mobile phone and it worked on my ATT prepaid fine. But I just recently switched to t-mobile prepaid because they offer tethering and FaceTime over cellular at no extra cost. ATT prepaid does not not have those features. They are restricted. Plus tmobile gives an extra 500mb of data over att under the same $60 plan. AND my LTE speeds are double on t-mobile. 36mb down 20mb up.

Ive waited since the iPhone 1 to have no restrictions on prepaid. finally.

Don't really have a need for jailbreaking anymore.

hey guys i just switched my verizon iPhone 5s to tmobile. I get 4G everywhere but not LTE... anyone know what i can do? My nexus 5 on my work line has lte so its not the coverage....

Try restarting your phone? In another thread someone pointed out that carrier updates are applied when you sync your phone with iTunes. That may be worth a try.

Verizon iPhone 5 (not 5s or 5c) for T-Mobile?

I know this is embarrassing, and please sincerely excuse my impatience to read all the posts in this thread. I have been with T-Mobile and am looking to buy an used iPhone. I understand 5s and 5c are fully compatible with T-Mobile LTE, but still not sure about 5. Someone please let me know. Thanks!

Google "apple understanding t mobile iPhone".

First hit for me shows which iPhone 5 is fully compatible with t mobiles 1700 band. Only sure way is to look at the last 4 serial numbers according to the apple support page.

It's a little more complicated with the 5. When the iPhone 5 launched in September 2012, it did not support all of T-Mobile's frequencies. When T-Mobile started offering the iPhone in April 2013, Apple revised the 5 to support T-Mobile's frequencies. But they didn't change the model number, so you can only tell by the serial number if you have one manufactured before or after April 2013.
