Wow... if that is Apple's QC and tolerances nowadays, no more Apple laptops for me. Ridiculous! This is my A033 panel. I can see non uniformity across the side. It really does not bother me and I think it is a good looking screen.

That looks really good, IMO. Even the brightness uniformity in the corners is quite good.View attachment 677568
Mine is not perfect but fine for me, a033. Looks better in real life than in picture, to my eyes at least.
What I've noticed on mine is the angle at which I have the display tilted (relative to the angle at which I'm viewing it) can have an effect on the color tint. If I'm looking at the display at a slightly higher angle above dead-on center, the bottom third will have a slight yellow tint. If I adjust my viewing position to be more in the very middle, the yellow at the bottom will pretty much go away. It can make me feel like there's something wrong with it at times, but adjusting my viewing angle tends to even it out.

I find the same as you said, changing the angle changes the uniformity, it's as if it's the coating rather than the screen.
I'm not playing the screen lottery, most on this thread I've seen are acceptable and we are seeing them at their worst with all white background and dark rooms.
here's mine in the name of science, but again I personally think P3 is harder to photograph accurately

so I took more pics which still aren't completely representative either since on this they show up warmer but I'm extremely happy with my display, tint and uniformity (A034)
I can see why you're happy, you're screen looks great!Haha I've ordered a replacement MBP after seeing your pictures.
LOL, you know what’s funny? I am truly nobody special, so I don’t want anyone to read this as arrogant...but my full time job that puts the food on my table and the roof over my head is photography. I spend countless hours every week obsessing about color and I know a thing or two about color management and calibration of displays. It’s actually what I do for a living...
Than why make a flippant remark directed at those who are unsatisfied with the uneven screen on their new MacBook Pro? A yellow screen can be calibrated, but you can't fix an uneven screen.

Perfection is absolutely possible...
No backlightbleeding.
2 big circles left/mid are due to camera.

Do you really think the panel is bad? It changes a little depending on above lighting or angle. But honestly I think it looks pretty good. I went through the Original MacBook Air panel plague LG vs Samsung years back. I lost and got the Samsung if I remember correct. I took these photos one next to the 5K and the solo is the MBP alone. What are you seeing that is noticeable bad? I have 13 more daysThe 5K looks a little better but I would expect that.

Um but this isn't a 2016? Many rMBP owners have a uniform display though it's a crapshoot too. And left looks yellow unless that's the camera doing it (possibility)

Which panel? System preferences>display>color tab>open profile, line17

Yes, I think it's way too much. It could be your camera amplifying the issue, but I'd actually expect the opposite – cameras typically have hard time showing slight variations that are visible to eyes. The sole fact it's so obvious in your pictures is a bad sign and means it's not a just minor issue, but a blatant yellow hotspot in the centre.Do you really think the panel is bad?
Those are all very solid points!A few points:
* Very low brightness in a very dark room will tend to make any non-uniformity look worse.
* Looking or photographing from an angle will tend to produce non-uniformity.
* It's very easy to unintentionally exaggerate non-uniformity using a camera.
* No screen is perfect. Period.
Has anyone noticed a change in their screen since the 10.12.2 update? My screen has improved in color uniformity and brightness. It isn't perfect, but it definitely has improved unless my eyes have changed. I know your eyes can accommodate to color such as a warm screen, but my screen has a pink to blue color shift left to right and previously looked brighter in the center, but there is a lot less pink on the left now and no uneven brightness. I've been using it for 2 weeks and haven't noticed any change, but as soon as it updated last evening I noticed the screen looked better.
oh man I hope this is placebo, my nTB on 10.12.0 is fantastic as is
I got a replacement TB 13" today.
Old screen was an A033, new screen still an A033.
The old screen was horrible in terms of a yellow patch (see two "tree patches in the middle lower of the screen), new screen is what I would consider perfect considering today's IPS technology.
...
Interestingly, even though both screens are A033, my i1 Display Pro colourimeter suggests the panels are different. The old screen had a max. brightness of 600 cd/m2 with a native white point of 6700 K, the new screen has a max brightness of 570 cd/m2 with a native white point of 6900 K (both measured in the middle of the screen). So there are significant differences even within the same panel type ("A033").
