Already looking forward to the posts (in the weeks) after the event on how apple did everything wrong, why apple sucks ever since Tim Apple became CEO, how ugly the new design is, and of course all the "I will be returning my new MacBook" threads!

They're already written. People are just waiting to hit "post" as soon as the keynote begins.

This has me thinking. Have we seen a single geek bench score for these? Or other processor test with public results? These things are completely hidden from view.

me watching the ordering/shipping fiasco that is imminent.

I've been hoping for (but not really expecting) the same. But "unleashed" implies portable computers, not laptops. So, it will be a while longer.
Not sure whether unleashed would be linked to laptops.

But … wouldn’t it be nice if for once something new wasn’t captured by rumors and voila “a wild iMac Pro appears “?

Maybe an updated iPad Air 5 with the A15, two lens camera system with flash, new purple color like the mini 6, etc.?
I hope that if the iPad Air comes in purple it actually has a color. All reports I’ve seen say that the iPad Mini purple is just a gray with a very slight tint. Very disappointing.

This is the thinking that led to my favorite 2013 MP. Sadly, I appear to have been in a decided minority.

I freaking love the 2013 appliance design though.
Yeah, I just can’t see slots in whatever it is, there wouldn’t be anything to put in them!

"Pricing will be similar between 14 and 16 inch"

I wonder what that means.

"Base M1X is the same configuration for both models"

I guess that means both will have the 16-core GPU variant for entry level. However, I wonder if only the 16" will get the 32-core upgrade option though.

I guess both will be similar like the iPhone Pro and Pro Max versions.

There’s no GPU or different TDP to limit the 14” version from having all the options/configs

Pricing similar probably means the 14" costs the same as the 16", not that the 16" has dropped to the price of the 14". Unfortunately. Still, these sound like they'll be beastly, meaning the cost could be justified. Just not for the faint of heart or thin of wallet.

Similar but not the same. Probably a $200 difference give or take $50.

It is kind of strange that I am not as interested in upgrading since I have a M1 Air. Previously I have bought the latest 15 and 16 MBPs every year or two. But the M1 Air is good enough, fast enough, and silent enough that I am not sure I want to upgrade. Maybe the 14" will be so good it will make me want to upgrade, but I can't see going back to lugging a 16" around. My last 16" had 32 GB and 1 TB SSD, and the M1 Air feels just as fast or faster with my normal workload and is silent.

I didn't get that from the tweet.

Remember, there are two rumoured versions of the GPU. That tweet just says the base version (16-core) will be the same between the 14" and 16". However, there is no guarantee the 14" will be allowed to upgrade to the higher end GPU version (32-core).

I am skeptical of 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. That would be a huge departure for Apple. So would going back on the ports and SD Card slot. Maybe this is an all new Apple?
16 GB / 512 GB was already the standard for that tier. This is not new.

I straight up don't believe they will continue to produce the 13" MBP. It's almost identical to the much cheaper MBA.

$1799 start for a 14" M1X just leaves too much of a price/performance gap.

All I care about is when can I order a 16” MacBook Pro and when will it arrive.

Same question here. I need to replace my 2016 MBP failing keyboard and need something for work urgently.

If pre-orders start Friday October 22nd maybe we can expect first shipment on October 29th ???

Anyone PLEASE help with information !

Same here. A new M1X MBP would be a great piece of candy, and is something I was planning on transitioning to from my M1 MBA.

But in the almost 1 year that I've had my MBA, it has been a delight to use. Every. Single. Day. It's fast, compact, weighs little, has a decent screen, great keyboard, and a long lasting battery. Zero issues.

No need to upgrade for me.
It makes it easy to contemplate waiting for the next gen macbooks/airs... the M2 version supposedly heading our way in Q3 2022

I don’t know about the SD card slot, but the justification for an HDMI port is that USB/Thunderbolt can‘t support the maximum bandwidth necessary for HDMI 2.1.

The 16" MBP already defaults to 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. The 13" starts at 8/256 but it is not hard to imagine that any new M-series MBPs would both start at 16/512.

As Boak points out the Intel 13" MBP also starts at 16/512, so it's a safe bet that the new MBPs of both sizes will start at least at that level.

You may want to get an external keyboard to tide you over
