Finally got my Treo Pro. I decided to go ahead and do the Sprint2Boost method. It would only save me around $18 to try and get the switch done myself but I don't have the time to sit around and try.

So yesterday around 3:00 pm I ordered the plus package on Sprint2Boost for $30. This morning at around 10:00 am the paypal transaction posted to my checking account. It's now 1:00 pm and I have not received any communication from Sprint2Boost. How long will it take them to get me switched over?

I restored my HTC Touch Diamond to factory ROM (available on the HTC support site). The restore is useful to clear out everything & start fresh.

Once restored, I activated it with the Boost PayGo. Works perfectly.

I just won an EBay auction for a Touch Diamond. Can you tell me what process you used to activate your HTC Touch Diamond on Boost (i.e. did you already have an account and swap ESNs)?

Eveything back up and running, the area I live in has a data outage, directly south and north is all clear.

I went through Sprint2Boost. Gave them the ESN & paid their fee. I was up and running in less than 8 hours.

Of course you can always try to activate it directly through Boost. Some have had quick success. I gave it a try & was shot down immediately. My time was worth the fee to Sprint2Boost.

I think Sprint2Boost is 30 bux.

Thanks - I think I'm leaning that way as well. Can't hurt to give it a try directly through boost, but if that doesn't work I'm willing to pay to have it done quickly and easily.

Was that 8 hours after entering the information on the Sprint2Boost website or 8 hours after the paypal transaction (or however you paid for it) had been posted? As mentioned in an earlier post it's been about 24 hours since I submitted my info to Sprint2Boost but only about 3 hours since the $30 transaction fee was posted from my account.

I sent them details on a Friday I think and phone was activated tues. They never sent me any emails until the phone was activated so don't worry.

I submitted my information really early one morning - about 2:00am. The next morning (at about 9:30) I had the info that it was all set up along with instructions on how to program my phone.

I even had to email them about something after I got my instructions....I got a reply in less than an hour.

Have you checked your spam folder?

Yeah, I've made sure it hasn't gone into my Junk mail folder. I saw you say it took less than 8 hours but see it took bperella a couple of days for them to switch it over. I'm just being impatient and want something to play with. Thanks for the info, I'll just sit tight.

Their website does indicate:

Processing your order can take up to 24 hours depending on the time and day you place the order.

If you have not heard from us within 24 hours, please be sure you have checked your JUNK or SPAM mail folders before contacting us.

If your spam folder is clear, I'd email them if it has been more than 24 hours for you.

i am actually kinda disappointed in the performance i am getting out of this setup. maybe since i've never had any experience tethering, my expectation was unreasonable. but webpages are too slow to load, and i often get timed out. then there is the battery drain on the phone - i don't think i can get an hour of use on a full charge.

i got an htc mogul off ebay for about $30 and then spent $30 for sprint2boost.

i am not sure if i want to spend another $30 to pay for wmwifirouter when trial runs out. i was hoping to get the htc wifirouter to work. so i don't keep dumping money into this for subpar performance. i am debating whether to just eat the cost and let this go.

I must say I'm impressed. I expected another waste-of-time thread but you delivered. Not something I'll do personally but a good idea nonetheless.

x2. I just clicked on the thread to get a laugh, but this seems legit and impressive enough to give it a shot.

there are actually some earlier fully functional versions of wmwifirouter which are shareware; they were free. only later did it become a paid app.

if you search on google for "wmwifirouter 0.91" you should be able to find it...

I got the email last night saying that I'd been switched over to Boost. Logged into Boost and changed my plan to Pay as you go. Of course I left my Treo Pro at work so I couldn't test it out on my iPad last night but I'll probably do some tests at work today with my iPhone to see what kind speeds I'm getting. Even if the speed isn't great, in a pinch this will come in very handy. Especially if what mentioned earlier was true and you only get charged $0.35 a day when you use it.

Ok, I've been trying to get wmwifirouter working but I can't seem to get the settings right. Can anyone that has gotten a Treo Pro 850 working send me a PM? I start wmwifirouter but my Treo keeps displaying Cannot Connect Dailed: #777. I know the #777 is for Sprint, but nothing else I've found online has worked. Can anyone help me out?

Finally have it working. My 850 basically still had the previous users information and was still trying to connect to Sprint. This cleared out all those settings and updating the profile brought in the Boost settings it needed to connect. I'll pass this on in case anyone else has trouble. I found this online on another site:

The solution that worked for me :

I did a ##3282#, select edit, and put my 6-digit MSL code in password field. Then hit Menu --> Restore. This basically removed previous Sprint settings but did not put new Boost network settings.

I then went to Start --> Settings --> System tab --> Update Profile. This update took about 3 minutes and at end of which my web works on the device.

If I ever go into the ##3282# now, I see the Boost network connection settings!

Speed seems decent at around 500 kbps. Signal doesn't seem to be as strong in my office, I'll see what I get at home tonight.

I'm all switched over to Boost on my Touch Diamond. I used a different service (http://www.boostberryconvert.com/) to do the conversion. I decided I was willing pay $25 to have it done quickly and not have to deal with calling customer service myself. I submitted my order at 9:38am this morning to boostberryconvert to do the conversion. Everything was completed and I had the email with instructions at 10:34am!

For those planning on doing this over Bluetooth: Keep in mind the iPad can only tether over Bluetooth with PAN (Personal Area Networking), *NOT* DUN (Dial-Up Networking). Older phones that support bluetooth tethering use DUN, which the iPad does NOT support.

I'm just mentioning this since I saw some people talking about buying PalmOS Treos and such, which only do DUN over Bluetooth.

thanks for the hint. i installed it but it wouln't connect. when i start wmwifirouter 0.91, it just hangs.

absent a mogul (cant find any in my area on CL) is the HTC touch pro 2 toooo much phone for what we are trying to do..I mean all I need is the data wifi to get my ipad online?

Ok say what are the fees that i must pay before i end up paying 10 dollars a month? and what are the phones under 50 dollars i can use to set it up? Thanks
