I wonder why it has taken me almost the full 48 hours

----------

Just got my third 6 plus denial.

Has anyone who waited more than a few minutes been granted an unlock?

My dad's 6 plus took about 17 hours. The phone is definitely under contract and was never exchanged at an Apple store

My old 5S was denied instantly several times. Submitted a request as a GoPhone a few hours ago, and that's currently processing

Please don't take any offense to this suggestion, but do you guys think it might consider your account and payment history? Say all your payments are on time, etc? Are any of the people getting denied ones who don't always pay their bills on time? I will be honest and say I've had a disconnect or two and don't always pay on time. I will try and see what happens. It's just a thought trying to figure out if there's rhyme or reason to this approved or denied thing.

First try as current customer, two minutes after confirmation got denied because phone is not paid off of next plan. Tried again as prepaid, waiting for email now.

Nothing but denials, got from Apple Store and in wonderful standing with att. In fact I have a 150 dollar credit and bills not due till the 12th feb. Guess it's just my luck.

I can only assume that there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. There is probably some sort of glitch (your guess is as good as mine) that is allowing some ohones to be unlocked while others not.

I wouldn't say that's not oossivle. But eve had our account for over five years and bills are set to autopay. As such we've had zero late payments. A couple others mentioned they had similar circumstances.

Can anyone with a contract phone got his phone unlocked? I submitted the request for my brothers phone. His company gave it to him and its on contract. They denied it many times. My 6 plus is on Next and it got unlocked.

Both my phones were bought on launch day from Apple under 2-year contract. Customer since 2009 and no late payments. Both got unlock approval and unlocked within 6 hrs of request submittal. The second phone, I never received the "request" confirmation email, just an unlocked approval email. My ATT account is under a business premier account.

Im currently abroad and need to get my iphone 5c unlocked ASAP, but after 30 tries and a couple "prepaid" requests, I am almost about to give up...

Is it a bad idea to call AT&T and simply ask to get it unlocked? I just want to use my phone for the 5 months I'm in a different country. Yet I don't have the funds to pay off my NEXT plan for my phone.. I've called before I left and they didn't give me any other choice than to pay...

Or should I keep using the online request/?

I am not understanding why the unlock is so important to overseas travel. Why don't you just get an overseas package form your carrier?

----------

Oh, and my Plus is unlocked but I tried this on my wife's 6, which is on Next, and it worked! Got the confirmation within a couple of hours with unlock instructions.

Yes. I requested an unlock for an iPhone 6 in NEXT on Thursday morning and didn't get the success email until Friday afternoon.

Because a local SIM card is very inexpensive compared to the AT&T international package. An example is a local France SIM card with unlimited calls and texts and 5GB internet for 15 euros, compared to AT&T's International Plan of $120 for 800MB of .31 per minute for voice.

Ah, that makes sense. So, when my wife and I go to Germany in December for ten days, it would be best to find something local when we land instead of getting AT&T's package?

How do you do that? Immediately land and then find a local carrier? Is it worth it for ten days?

Sorry for all the questions, this will be new for me.

Yes it is worth it for 10 days. I usually look on eBay and purchase it before I travel so it is activated when I land and I don't have to spend valuable time in the airport trying to find a cellular sales kiosk. It is also nice having a local number to provide to hotels etc. before you travel. Last fall I used a SIM from Congstar throughout Germany and Lebara in Switzerland.

Thank you! So, what do i search for on Ebay? Germany SIM or what?

Yes just search for German SIM. Here is a link as an example which explains the packages well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Germany-LEB...301278311314?pt=SIM_Cards&hash=item4625963392

There are a lot to choose from so you need to see which seller and SIM works best for you. You also need to specify if you need a Nano or Micro SIM card when you purchase. I purchased a SIM from the above seller and they were good about providing instructions on how to navigate the cellular site and adding funds to the SIM card etc.

The only thing to keep in mind is that you'll get a German phone number with the German sim. This means that if you want to call to or from the us then it will be an international call. It will still be cheaper in the long run though. You'll also need to make sure your family and friends have the new number to call.

When I travel, I pay for a US phone number on my Skype account and set my Skype settings to forward to my foreign SIM card number. Then I set my AT&T number to forward to my Skype number. That way, my friends and family in the US can reach me using my regular AT&T number and not worry about paying international long distance.

I have tried more than 10 times this past week both as current customer and gophone.
All times it was denied due to phone being in contract.

Be aware that they can flag your IMEI and I think you will be denied just because you've submitted too many unlock requests. A couple people mentioned it earlier on in this thread.
People referenced getting flagged when submitting additional requests after their unlock had already been approved.

Success!!!

6 Plus Pre-Ordered from AT&T on Next 12.

If that's the case then I stand corrected. I haven't gone back to read it again so you might be right.

Eh. It relly doesn't matter. I have nothing to lose. I have every intention of trading the phone in in 8 or so months now anyway lol
