I received the Congratulations you are unlocked email from AT&T on Monday and did the restore (I never saw the unlocked message on iTunes) but every time I put in either a foreign or t-mobile SIM card I get activation required.
Anyone had the same issue?
Is it activation via iCloud login? The unlock request for my wife's in-contract non-Next AT&T iPhone 6 was approved yesterday and when we popped in the T-Mobile SIM we had to log in to her iCloud to activate it. She logged in, and then the phone started picking up T-Mobile's signal. I'm assuming you have to go through with that activation step—literally just logging in with your iCloud account—for the unlock to complete (or at least for your phone to start getting on the other network).

It's not iCloud related. It says the sim card is not approved or something to that extent and to contact the carrier.

On my latest attempt I guess I must have clicked the active deployment bubble on accident. I didn't get the "confirm" email I normally do. Some hours later I got an email asking me to fax deployment papers. I just submitted a "regular" unlock again. I keep telling myself to stop. Now I am just stubborn. This is try 8 (if we don't count the last accidental one).

Wow. Immediate denial that time.

Another immediate denial. Sheesh. Usually have to wait a day haha. I have had two in abut ten minutes.

Pretty sure whatever glitch there was is patched, or for some reason I am getting the shaft. I have gotten three denials today alone, for a grand total of 11. Oh well.

Did you wipe your phone prior to restore? It won't be able to be unlocked until you completely erase all content from your phone and restore from a back up.

I clicked restore in iTunes and after it restored the phone I selected restore from iTunes backup.
Previous phones I have unlocked with AT&T,all I had to do after receiving their email was put in the other sim card and was good to go.

contract option 4 times didn't work due to contract no being fulfilled

go phone option took 2 days to respond but that was also denied due to account information not matching

Depends on the phone. My iPhone 4 required a restore. My 5S and 6 did not. Just popped in a non-AT&T SIM and it was ready to roll.

Woohoo success story guys keep trying! After about 12-15tries I submitted it again under one of my other lines that is still in contract and boom! About 30mins later I got the congratulations email!

I had the same message. I just had to enter my icloud id password associated to my account and TMOBILE service was found. I then swapped back to my AT&T sim. I do turn off iMessage and FaceTime when I swap sims because I had activation issues when I swapped sims on my old 5.

The instructions on the email link specifically say you need to wipe your device and then restore from back up. This is as per Apple. i was also having trouble with the unlock and decided to follow Apple's instructions and it worked.

If you don't have another SIM card you can use, follow these steps to complete the process:
Back up your iPhone.
When you have a backup, erase your iPhone. (Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings)
Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made

It's true that both Apple and AT&T state this, but starting with the iPhone 4s you don't need to do a Backup and Restore in iTunes. I'm not sure if this is formally documented but I first learned it here on the forums and have successfully unlocked a 5s and 6 but simply popping in a non-AT&T SIM and logging into iCloud after the unlock was approved.

I followed the ATT instructions as well, backup & restore via iTunes. Received the your "iPhone is unlocked message"

I got lucky for the 2 6 plus models a week ago.
This last 6 plus I'm trying have unlocked I been getting denials like over 15 times and all within minutes of submission.
I'll give it a rest and try again next week maybe.

For the record backing up and restoring shouldn't be necessary. Before my phone was unlocked, it would go through the "activation required" thing and then say SIM not valid.

After unlock, popping a different SIM in triggered the activation required sequence, but this time it took me back to the home screen instead of giving the sim not valid message.

I've gotten a 6 Plus and a 5S unlocked.

I have a 5S pending waiting for update in the system. I have a 5S that's been rejected several times that I'll try again after the pending 5S.

All phones are under contract.

Just received confirmation of unlock on my second iPhone 5S. Three down and one to go.

iPhone 6 plus, ordered on launch day.

unlocked on first request.

selected current customer. confirmed the request via email. got impatient after waiting 10 minutes so i followed the link in the conformation email to check the status and it said congratulations it was completed. Shortly after i got the success email from AT&T

Thank you all!

Don't give up hope guys. Just got another 5s and 5 unlocked today. The 5s was instant about 5 min ago. The 5 took about 3 days. Got the "need to do some additional verification" email this morning. 30 minutes ago, I got confirmation!

I've been trying at least 10 times and all denied on an iPhone 6. Tried current, past, go-phone, non-AT&T mobility. Now I'm getting "Error: We’re sorry, but we’re having technical difficulties with our network at the moment. Please try again later. If this problem persists, try clearing the cache and cookies from your device. Questions? Call us at 800.331.0500, or dial 611 from your AT&T wireless phone. (errorCode.ULS3001)" on different browsers, computers and different networks. Looks like they do lock out your IMEI on the website.

I believe anything ios7 and beyond no longer requires restore.

I've had this error before. I just assumed it was a legitimate error. I was able to submit sgain about 24 hours later, though I still haven't had success with unlock. I'm about 15 tries lol.

Submit my first request and got deny lol. I'm on next and they said I haven't finish my payment. I chose current customer, should I try again with something else like not att customer or go phone?

This is what I got from my GoPhone requests:
Thank you for contacting AT&T about unlocking your mobile device.

Unfortunately, your unlock request was denied because:

You haven’t completed 6 months of paid service as a Prepaid/GoPhone® customer.

You can submit a new request once you complete 6 months of paid service.

Questions? Please call 800.331.0500, or dial 611 from your AT&T wireless phone.
