I have 4 iPhones (6+,6, and 2 5S's) on my AT&T account...all via the Next installment program within the past 6 months. AT&T sent me the congrats email on 3 of them with 1 being denied because it's on the Next program....LOL!!!!

Congrats, did you use ATTUnlock? How long did it take?

Like I mentioned earlier, I used AT&T's unlock portal directly. Within hours I got the e-mail to go ahead and perform the factory reset and backup restore. I only got around to it today because I use my phone for work so I can only take downtime on the weekends.

I had tried this about 15 times and got an instant denial each time because the phone is not yet paid off under NEXT. Well I tried it again today because I had added a new line on my account (already had a unlocked phone) and switched the sims putting the new number on my under contract phone. Not sure if that helped or it was just a coincidence but today I got an instant approval and promptly did the restore in iTunes and got the confirmation. I don't have any immediate needs for it but it's nice knowing its unlocked if I ever need it.

NEVER GIVE UP!

I tried about 30 times and always got instant denials... then today I tried feeding the form slightly incorrect info and it actually worked!

This time I gave the phone number of the other line on my account which is also under contract but a traditional 2 year contract instead of Next. I gave the form my own IMEI (for an iPhone 6 still under Next) and it worked! I got the congratulatory email just 5 minutes later. So strange... I assume since all of this is controlled by IMEI that my own phone was just unlocked and not my mom's (lol) but who knows. Will restore soon and find out.

Thank you all! If this actually works (which it seems to have so far) you will all have saved me $50 and made my upcoming trip to Japan much easier!

You didn't actually have to reset and restore. You could have just put in a non-AT&T sim, but congrats.

i traded my iphone 6 plus for iphone 6 on cragislist. i believe 6 was on a contract. submitted a unlock requested. approved within in minutes.

Yeah but it was already unlocked...so you would have been good to go when you did have access to one...Which is the only purpose of getting an unlock anyway. Just more of a heads up message.

Yeah it was more of a "easier to have it unlocked now, as opposed to trying to do it down the road" in case I need it.

It's also the directions that AT&T provides, so it's easier to go their route out the gate for the majority of users.

How often to retry?

I've tried a few times and got the denial "You haven’t fulfilled your service contract." email. How often can you try without getting flagged? Daily, every few hours, etc?

I tried about 70 times over the course of about 20 days. I was denied everytime and then went with a service.

Perhaps its time to go the paid route if you really need it, otherwise your just wasting your time and you may be also raising some sort of flags on AT&T's end with that many attempts.

I got both my iPhones unlocked. But the second email looks strange, all it has in the wording is
Unlock request number: XXXXXX

Thank you for contacting AT&T about unlocking your mobile device.

Congratulations! Here are your unlock instructions:

Questions? Please call 800.331.0500, or dial 611 from your AT&T wireless phone.
There are no actual instructions like the email that I received before. The online status checker also doesn't have any instructions. My other iPhone unlock request had full instructions to restore the phone with original sim that came with the phone. Is it still unlocked?

You didn't actually have to reset and restore. You could have just put in a non-AT&T sim, but congrats.
Can you elaborate, I got the Congrats email but I havent had the time to do a restore. Is the phone already unlocked or do I still have to do a restore?

Your imei number has been removed from the list of locked phones. Wherever it is kept I don't know. All you have to do is put a non AT&T sim in and it will check over the network and work. Simple as that there is no reason to plug your phone into a computer.

Thanks, I will try that. Only thing I need to do is find someone with a non-ATT sim.

my broinlaw has a 5s with tmobile but it seems locked. I think he got it on contract or financed it? Sorry im not sure what options tmobile has as im in canada.

I just wanted to unlock it

Maybe, I was thinking of the iPhone 6. From my understanding a new law effective February 11th states that carriers must unlock phones under certain circumstances. Basically out of contract and not stolen. I don't know the specifics but maybe that law can help. Probably best to contact T-Mobile directly.

Hi iPhone 5s - 2 year contract, 1 month into it, just put another nano sim in it and it worked, running off it now, it's my old phones prepay sim.

Phone must have come unlocked from new........??
