Jacob, when you put the card in the iphone4, did you get a text that you are on unlimited data? Because the 2g UL data is 20$ and reg UL data is 30$. Confirm please.

after i put my sim in the iphone 4, around 8:30 pm, i did not receive a text from att stating that they switched my data plan to the $30 unlimited plan till 7am this morning.

another note... as soon as i put my sim in the iphone 4, i entered *3282# (this will tell you how much data and mms you have used) and it showed that my previous data plan had been deactivated and i am under unlimited.

I hope this helps, if you have any more questions post them up and i'll do my best to help you out.

Sweet. Keep us posted.

Just got it to take mine. Used new sims and new itunes. Funny it still pulled over programs I have on the 4. Hope that didn't mess things up. After this is all done can I go back to the Itunes I have been using or do I need to stay with the new one? Hope I hear something that is activated before too long. been about a hour.

It worked. I finally called in and CS had to set some things since new card. Put it back in the 4 and working. Haven't received the text that changed back yet.

I got an text saying since me sim is in an iPhone I need a compatible plan. And now I am on 30$ UL:)

Our records indicate your iPhone does not have the correct data plan. We have added the appropriate Data Plan for iPhone. We've also added a messaging package to match the messaging plan included in your previous data and messaging bundle

Not sure what they are doing with mine. I never received the text. I look online at my plan. It now shows I Phone 4 but still on the iphone data with 200 text for $20. The Iphone 3g unlimited plan is a option I can select. We have the unlimited family text any mobile add on and it shows on my account too. Should I just let it run the way it is or select the $30. I am assuming I still have unlimited text since it shows on my plann as a add on and not just the 200. Perhaps I should give it a day and see if they change it. Just dont want to get in a mess

Strange. I also had 5$ plan for 200 text added which I removed.

The 200 text are just part of the unlimited data I had on the IPhone 2. It still shows unlimited family and any m-m as on my phone. I am assuming i am covered by text. I finally received the text about moved to appropriate data plan. I went online and it still shows on the $20 unlimited plan not he $30. Got a little concerned thinking perhaps I should select the $30 so no flags come up. What is your alls opinion, change it or let it ride? Anyone else have it stay at the $20? I also checked my text messages. shows like 1756. I might have made 60. Anyone have text message count go crazy?

New Info

Just for everyones info. I tried to do this for my wifes phone. Not sure if it was because using same IP@2 or not. The store gave her a new 3g sims instead of the big one. I went to Itunes and it took me through set up. checked the data plan $20 unlimited then it just took me back to itunes. Not the waiting to activate. I had used a adapter I had. I called ATT to set it up but the CS agent said it wouldn't let him enter information. He told him when he entered the card number it was a 3g card. Getting a regular card tomorrow and try again. Is there a difference between the small cards that say 3g and the larger cards for IP2?

I think ATT has figure it out. I started to activate the IP2. Seems doing it on Itunes is not the final thing if new card. I called in as on mine. Now it seems the $25 2g is compatible with the IP2. Or so the CS agent who I had told me. Had him stop activation as she would be no better off after all done.

Some on the other forum are still getting it. I posted the link in post #245.

What would happen if I removed the card from the IP4 used a adapter and put it in the IP2? Would it let me get the data for the 2 or just not work at all?

worked this afternoon without a glitch on a 1st Gen iphone... Easiest way was to trace a mini sim over a credit card size virgin microsim card, then cut out a minisim shape and just break off the perforations before inserting into a iphone4. VS. my old way of cutting down a mini sim to a microsim and then just swapping them next time in the store (free)...
No text yet to convert to $30mo from $20mo+200sms, but I am sure it will come soon....

Did you ever get the text. I keep getting them every so often that they changed me to correct data but it is still the $20 unlimited 200 text. We have family unlimited so I dont care if it stays that way. Saves me money.

I got the text within one day and the system was updated to reflect it.

Alright. I have a few questions.
1) After I get my hands on an Iphone 2g can I then use any other smartphone..Say android?
2) Do I have to activate a new line or can I do this with my existing line/number?
3) does it make any difference if I already have a smartphone activated (with they new crappy data plans) on that said line?
4) is the loophole still open?

Thanks in advanced.

1) I believe that you can noot
2) you can do an existing line, but you need a new sim card
3) similiar to the second one that isn't a problem but you need to make sure that you get a new sim card (like from ebay) and it will ask you what line you want to activate it on
4)i think so, or atleast i hope so because i'm going to try in two weeks Hehe!

1. Yes. My husband did it and then switched to an Android phone. (He has since switched back to an iPhone)
2. You can use your existing line. Go to an ATT store and ask for a new sim card. When I did it I got a brand new card not associated with any number.
3. Should work.
4. Don't know.

Good Luck
Carol

Alright, just bought an iPhone 2g off of ebay. I will let you all know how it goes once it gets here. Thanks for the reply.

And Maschil, good luck with yours.

P.S. Carol, I can't believe he'd give up an Android phone for an iPhone. =D Personal preference I guess. However, was his Android phone made my Samsung?

He had an HTC phone. I think it was the Incredible, could be wrong. We got a 2G off of eBay too and he used that for a week or two before he upgraded and really liked the iPhone better. Thought it was easier. Plus the HTC phone he got had the speaker on the back and was harder to hear. Yes, personal preference. He ended up getting a 3GS that they had for $50.00 and he loves it.

Good luck. Let us know how it works out
For you.

Carol
