Unsuccessful atempts to get $20 unlimited data plan for iphone 2g

Edit: Oh yes i have a general question for anyone who can answer it. Without a doubt i'll probably be getting an unused brand spanking new micro sim for the iphone 4. Is it difficult to get it to work with the iphone 2g?

You'll just need an adapter for it.

Edit: Forgot to mention if there are any problems with doing this on a brand new Family plan with 2 lines? Has anyone tried with a family plan? Thanks~

Taping the sim in the 2g sim tray is fine, just make sure its placed correctly. And I'm on a 3 line family plan and did the loophole fine.

Thanks for the reply. Good thing I went on ahead with the family plan. Just got back form the apple store with a two phone family plan. Glad to hear it'll work just fine with the family plan. Correct me if my steps to get the unlimited data is wrong

1. acquire 2g iphone
2. acquire an unactivated sim card
3. insert brand new sim card into 2g iphone and connect to itunes
4. select unlimited data plan
5. maybe wait a day
6. take out sim card from 2g iphone and insert into iphone 4
7. turn it on and wait for the appropriate messages to confirm unlimited data


Question : is there anything i'll need to do with the iphone 4 before starting any of this? Thanks. Just wanna make sure i don't hit any snags. Will probably try this in a couple days or perhaps tomorrow.

The date when AT&T was SUPPOSEDLY going to fix the loophole was April 30th. Right around then AT&T started really coming down on people tethering without the tethering plan and it's assumed that they are doing this to force people off of their unlimited plans.

When you tether with an iPhone on Att it uses a specific APN which they can easily detect. They have been "cracking down" for months already...
 
Help with Iphone 2g

Is there anyway I could use this loophole without having my own Iphone 2g. Would I be able to use someone elses Iphone 2g from this site? If anyone has a 2g and could help me with this, I'll pay them on paypal. Send me an email if you'd be willing to help at bauerc [@] fordhamprep.org (we could do like 15$).

You should probably remove your email and instead just ask them to PM you.
 
Guys i've run into a snag. I'm not sure why it's doing this but at the very end of the process in activating the iphone 2g via itunes, when I hit submit, it doesn't do anything. Absolutely nothing changes on the screen. I've hit submit a couple times more and nothing. I even tried the process from the start again and nothing. Thoughts?

I have no idea, maybe the activation servers are down? Have you tried again since? Try calling them up and see if they can activate it for you if it still doesn't work.

Figured it out :p. However i ran into another snag haha. I got everything to work up until where I needed to cut the sim into a micro-sim. Well....I'm apparently clumsy and screwed up... Seems like my only choice is to go to the att store and have them put a new micro sim into my ip4.

Should I run into any problems while doing this? Anything to look out for? Thanks again
 
Hey there I have just recently over the past couple days been looking over this loophole. I do have a couple questions unactivated sim card guessing that means I can't simply pull my card from my Atrix and get unlimited data. Also will I lose my number/have to add another line to our plan for this to work or will I be able to keep my number and line without having to add a new line.

As long as the 2g was successfully activated and you have unlimited 2g data on your account, they should just put you on unlimited 3g.

These questions have been answered many times in this thread, but:
You need a brand new sim, meaning it's never been in a phone or activated. And you keep your current line and number, no need to do anything with that.
 
Finished putting in a new micro sim into my ip4 just now. Now all I need to do is wait for the text message about being put on the proper data plan :)

We are on a family plan with the family unlimited text and unlimited mtam. If I do this will it mess plan up when I go to unlimited or try to come back since the unlimited on the IP2 has set amount of texts attached to it? I am assuming it will just put me back into the unlimited text and any mobile with unlimited data at $ 30 instead of 2g at $25 but wanted to make sure. It wont effect or employer discount on the plan either correct?

I'm not sure about the discount but it shouldn't affect it.


As for the family plan questions, I started a family plan account with my girlfriend on April 26th with 2 lines - 500 minutes, unltd text and 2GB data for each phone.


I knew about the loophole from way back so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Somebody else helped me with getting the unltd data since I didn't have an iPhone 2G, but that's not relevant to your question.

So to answer you question, I had unltd text messaging initially, then after the iPhone 2 with unltd data was activated for my number, I called CS and they said I was on the iPhone 2G + 200 text plan, I told them something like 'My mom just came back from Europe and surprised me with an unlocked iPhone 4 so I need to transfer to the unltd 3G data', they transfered me to that for $30/month and I kept the unltd text I had when I started the account.

All in all, don't worry - you keep the unltd text and the unltd data.
 
i having a problem activating my 2g iphone through itunes, everything is fine up to the part where i hit submit. when i hit submit nothing happens. called att and they referred me to apple customer service.

any solutions?
 
Keep us informed. I just won one on Ebay so hope the process is still working. Waiting for it to arrive. Is it a paint to get the small sims card to work in a I2? I see people say tape it. Think I will try and get ATT store to give me a large and small card. Local guy who sells ATT wanted $25 for cards
