Unsuccessful atempts to get $20 unlimited data plan for iphone 2g

Ps: PPFee I wasn't able to get the iPhone 2g activated past the emergency stage. It is stuffed in one of my drawers. Initially I was upset b/c it cost me $139 on amazon, but it is priceless having gotten my unlimited data plan back.

I don't plan to bother getting it activated, I'll probably just save it as a electeonic souvenir until the year 202+ :)

Understood. Thanks, Ive got apple support calling me back in the morning. Supposedly they said if i Call back tomorrow and still had no success than to call and speak to engineering and that they can manually push everything through. By that time i can have my 4s back up and running, but honestly now I've got this pet project on the side and won't be content until i either have it up and running or know for a fact that its just impossible without jail breaking it. Speaking of which the original iPhone is hacked at such a basic level and its so simple to do apparently a couple minutes and all the 2giphone jailbreak programs can get it out of that screen easily, even with a used deactivated sim in there and you can use it as an iPod touch or give it to family to use as a phone/ipod, either that or get a little money back on craigslist and just tell them that when you used it you couldn't get it past that screen. Hell someone on the forum will likely be willing to give you something fair considering you can still use it for the main purpose of getting unlimited data. Anyway congrats again. :D
 
Thanks PPFee please let me know what the Apple engineers can do for you. If yours works then I'll call for them to push mine in and yes I'll leave it like a pod for my kids.

I don't think I want to sell it, felt in love with the little i-nosour :)
 
You can relatively easily unlock the old iphone still using PwnageTool 3.1.5 and the 3.1.3 IPSW file. This fixes the problem you are describing, as I unlocked my phone which activated on AT&T (confirmed on my AT&T account website), allowed calls from the emergency screen and received text messages, but never finished unlocking the device.

Thanks for this info. I had my scheduled callback today at 1pm and she took all my info and submitted it to the engineering department and i will get a call back tomorrow morning and they will push the unlock through iTunes for me. I was not forced to pay even though its far past warranty, spoke to a couple really nice women, I think ill marry one of them but thats another story:eek: I found this little guide. http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-unlock-iphone-2g-3.1.2-firmware-with-blackra1n-rc3-9140086/ Im contemplating doing it but i figure since it will be officially taken care of in the morning i can wait. I checked out the software though and its as easy as can be to jailbreak and unlock the original iPhone. Also when calling iPhone support, i did drop a few recent in warranty purchases to help plead my case, and told my future-wife (the rep) that i honestly was in the process of trying to screw over att and get free data for my new 4s. She laughed and said id be more than happy to help you in your endeavors but you have to give me credit when you tell the story. She was a good sport. In case i didn't mention, I'd like to have relations with her. :cool: :D

Are you really sure it was a woman?? I lent 2 of my old iphone to wife's cousin last night, we tried Itunes and it did not work so he called in. The rep took down the imei numbers for both phones and other info and told him they will call back once the tech pushes the unlimited data through. She assured him that he was gonna get it. He played dumb and ask her what data package was offered for the phone and she told him the $20 bucks unlimited data with 200 text message.

I cant seem to find version 3.1.5 I have windows OS not Mac OS but was wondering there are so many choices but most of them with that version listing are Mac and Linux OS.

Sorry, I think you need a Mac to use PwnageTool.

I don't get where you are going with this? Yes I'm sure it was a woman....I wasn't calling in about the data plan, I've already successfully added unlimited data to my account through iTunes. I was simply trying to get the phone unlocked. :confused: Anyway congrats on your upgrade.

I just used redsnow on the mac, unlocked and jailbreaked in just like 2 minutes. You will need this link. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7436&laid= . Its the best how to i found and has links to the files you will need to download, including redsnow. Ill just restore it before talking to apple tomorrow to have it unlocked in their database.
 
Confirmed upgrade to iPhone 4S unlimited via chat this evening from iPhone "original" unlimited + 200 txt

My process:
Two days ago, I bought a 2G iPhone off of craigslist, took my already active microsim from the 4S and taped it onto the 2G sim tray, activated the 2G on iTunes (took a total of 2-3 minutes)
I was now on the iPhone unlimited +200 texts.
Then took it out and put it back into the 4S.
It now showed I was on iPhone unlimited $30 plan.
Then today I switched from iPhone unlimited to the actual iPhone 4S unlimited which was the same price via chat. Even though there isn't a difference, I was happier seeing that I had the iPhone 4S unlimited data plan! :cool::p

For me, I told them I just got a new iPhone 4S and want to switch from my already unlimited plan to the iPhone 4S unlimited plan. Then the nice rep will ask for the IMEI number and will switch your data plan.

No need for a new microsim if you already have a sim card active.

Nothing special. After I cut down the sim and put it in my 4S, which arrived today, I tried to change from the 2g plan (which I got by activating my 2g via itunes) to the 3G/4/4S unlimited plan via the online system. I got an error message and the option to "chat." So I did. She asked what my error was, I explained that I was trying to change to the newer unlimited plan, as I had just received my 4S. 3 minutes later it was done. No hassle, I didn't offer any information requested. The only thing she asked for was the IMEI of my new device, presumably to verify the device type and update the system.

Strangely enough, she put me on the 3G/4 unlimited plan. I noticed this and was able to use OLAP to change myself to the 4S plan.

Congrats, glad to hear it. Check your data speeds too and just verify that it stays on the 4s plan otherwise you will miss out on the HSDPA advantages.

Yup, got the 4S plan. I had to upgrade the plan via the OLAP from the 4 to the 4S plan.

hey guys thanks for the great resources. I was contemplating buying an iPhone thru sprint but I think I'll go this route.
can someone confirm for me though if this $20 unlimited plan will retain the 200 txt mags when it gets upgraded to a 3G iPhone 4s plan?

I was already on AT&T before I did this unlimited trick and considered moving to Sprint but have heard of pretty awful data speeds. I now have great data speeds with AT&T (unlimited, of course).
