So now we're excusing Apple for dropping the headphone output on a larger semi-computer device? Seriously?More people will be mad about the lack of a headphone jack than the number of people who would have used the jack if it were included.
Isn't it shallow to favor beauty over functionality?Well, say what you want, but this is probably going to be the most beautiful Apple device of all time… Probably Steve’s vision of what the Mac would become one day…

A lot of people really need to learn to see past their own noses. I just don’t understand why "Productivity" is often limited to programming, excel, and CAD, as if no other type of profession exists.
In fact the big iPad pro dimensions match a 12.9” + 0.9mm bezels. In the contrary, the small iPad pro width matches a 10.5” screen + 0.9mm side bezels, and height matches a 10.5” screen + 1.7mm bezels (or 11.3” screen + 0.9mm bezels). So current 10.5" with the slim side bezels has dimensions of 250mmX174mm and these new dimensions with the same slimmer bezels on top and bot has 247mmX178mm
So if these are the dimensions its clear we will have 11" display instead of 10.5"
No doubt. Idiotic. I make my living as a video professional, and daily plug my Sony MDR V6 headphones into my iPad checking levels. Why those particular headphones? They are largely the industry standard, and a couple Audio Technicas and Sennheisers many pros use. While I use AirPods CONSTANTLY, they are not what I use for WORK, Apple.
Well, say what you want, but this is probably going to be the most beautiful Apple device of all time… Probably Steve’s vision of what the Mac would become one day…
Has anyone on this entire spinning rock ever looked at an iPad Pro and wen't "Aww gee if only it were thinner?"
FFS honestly Apple needs to understand that thin =/= good. Its thin enough. I feel like if it gets any thinner its own weight will be able to bend it.
IMO, removing the headphone jack on a "pro" device, kinda stupid. Its an iPad, its not exactly cramped is it? The phone I can kind of get due to its size, but a 10 or 12 inch tablet? If they removed the jack to make room for a bigger battery sure why not, but just to make an already thin device slightly thinner? Just absolute stupid form over function there.
I'll be interested to see if theres a bendgate for the new iPad Pro.
its too little gain on height for a 10.5" and the new one also have bigger width so it will be closer to 11" than 10.5". Im talking only for the smaller one...the bigger one its clear that has smallerIn fact the big iPad pro dimensions match a 12.9” + 0.9mm bezels. In the contrary, the small iPad pro width matches a 10.5” screen + 0.9mm side bezels, and height matches a 10.5” screen + 1.7mm bezels (or 11.3” screen + 0.9mm bezels).
So there are definitely some inconsistencies in the rumor.
Clearly you don't do any gaming, or audio recording. Wireless headphones cannot be used with those activities due to lag. If Apple has come up with a low-latency technology to incorporate into their devices that's one thing, but otherwise it's a problem. Sound recording remains a problem as well since the fidelity over current BT technology is in no way equivalent to professional audio needs.
I think you misunderstood what I said.its too little gain on height for a 10.5" and the new one also have bigger width so it will be closer to 11" than 10.5". Im talking only for the smaller one...the bigger one its clear that has smaller
width and height so it will keep the 12.9"
I agree: this will be the new iPad , and... the rumored sub $1000 MacBook (with the new smart/keyboard cover).Maybe it needs to be thinner so that you immediately feel the need to buy a new case for it (hopefully from one Apple Inc)?
In all honesty, I suspect that the iPad needs to be thinner as the the keyboard will be slightly thicker as it'll be upgraded & have a trackpad on.
Therefore Apple is optimising the iPad's weight and thickness to be balanced for the accessory that Apple suspects that everyone will be buying.
Wireless headphones don’t work for professional audio/video editing due to the slight delay.
(And delaying video to match the audio only works for playback, not editing.)
I was under the impression Apple wanted to expand professional use of the iPad Pro. The 3.5mm port removal, if true, only diminishes it.
But no matter, Macs still accomplish the job with aplomb. For now.
Air Canada forbids using Bluetooth headphones at any phase during a flight on their Dash-8 series birds. So much for using my iPad on my flights.
what do you mean with inconsistent ? if doesn't matter the screen size, than apple could make any dimensions right?I think you misunderstood what I said.
The dimensions, for the small iPad pro only, are inconsistent with a constant bezel size, whatever the screen dimensions.
Good. No one uses headphones on an ipad anyway. If you want to use headphones u should just buy the $160 AirPods.
edit: Just because you think you need wired headphones on an ipad doesn't mean you're right. if Apple is removing the headphone jack it's because you don't need a headphone jack.
There are lots of headphones with either Lightning or USB-C connector available, in a wide variety of price classes.Air Canada forbids using Bluetooth headphones at any phase during a flight on their Dash-8 series birds. So much for using my iPad on my flights.
if my math isn’t totally wrong... wouldn’t the larger iPad Pro have its screen increased from 12.9 to 13.2? This is considering the iPad has 0.9mm bezels all around.
So there are definitely some inconsistencies in the rumor.
They have removed other ports from full-computer devices in the past and usually were correctly predicting where the industry would eventually move to. The only thing you could accuse them of is that they´re usually ahead of the curve, thus making the transition a bit bumpy for their customers. So now we're excusing Apple for dropping the headphone output on a larger semi-computer device? Seriously?
