12.9” 4:3 screen is 262x197mm. The 2018 large iPad pro is rumored to be 280x215mm, or (262+2x9)x(197+2x9).if my math isn’t totally wrong... wouldn’t the larger iPad Pro have its screen increased from 12.9 to 13.2? This is considering the iPad has 0.9mm bezels all around.
215.00^2 + 180.66^2 = 353.5464mm (13.919 inches). Then take 35.35464 - 1.8 (Bezels on each sides combined) = (13.211 inches). I doubt the bezels would be much bigger than 9mm.
Apple's upcoming iPad Pro could be one of its thinnest devices yet, measuring in at just 5.9mm thick, based on details shared by a leaker on Twitter who previously provided accurate details on the iPhone XS and XR ahead of launch.
According to Twitter user CoinCoin, the upcoming iPad Pro will measure in at just 5.9mm, and due to its thinness, there will be no room for Apple to include a headphone jack.
The 5.9mm estimate matches up with alleged iPad Pro dimensions shared yesterday on Slashleaks, which suggested the new iPad Pro would measure 5.86mm thick.

It is also in line with current iPad Pro measurements. The existing 10.5-inch iPad Pro is 6.1mm thick, so it would make sense for a new model to be somewhat thinner.
It's likely the 5.9mm estimate applies to the smaller of the two 2018 iPad Pro models that Apple is expected to introduce, which could be somewhere around 10.5 to 11 inches in size. Apple's current 12.9-inch iPad Pro is thicker than the 10.5-inch version, measuring in at 6.9mm thick.
The iPad Pro dimensions shared on Slashleaks yesterday suggest the smaller iPad Pro will be 7 inches wide (178.52mm) and 9.7 inches tall (247.64mm), while the larger model will be 8.5 inches wide (215mm) and 11 inches tall (280.66mm).
![]()
We've seen similar dimension estimates in earlier rumors from Japanese site Mac Otakara, suggesting the smaller iPad Pro will measure in at 247.5mm tall, 178.7mm wide, and 6mm thick, while the larger model will measure 280mm tall, 215mm wide, and 6.4mm thick.

Comparatively, the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro measures in at 6.8 inches wide (174.1mm) by 9.8 inches tall (250.6mm), while the 12.9-inch model measures in at 8.68 inches wide (220.6mm) by 12 inches tall (305.7mm).
Bezels on the new tablets could measure in right around 6mm at the top, bottom, and sides, with the 7.2mm measurement on the Slashleaks document perhaps referring to bezel thickness with side button included.
Multiple prior rumors have indeed suggested that the next-generation iPad Pro models will feature slimmer bezels all the way around, with the top bezel housing a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. The bottom bezel is slimmer than in existing models because Apple plans to remove the Home button.
Coming back to the prediction of no headphone jack, this isn't the first time we've heard that rumor. Back in July, Mac Otakara also said that the upcoming iPad Pro models will not include a headphone jack. iPhone models have not offered a headphone jack since the iPhone 7, with Apple instead encouraging customers to use Bluetooth headphones like the AirPods or Lightning-based solutions.
The info shared on Slashleaks is likely from a case maker and because it's supported with data obtained from other sources, it's quite possibly accurate. Aside from the dimensions of the new iPad Pro models, the info also confirms the presence of a new Smart Connector at the back of the two tablets.

Other 2018 iPad Pro rumors suggest the device will feature a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port, a faster A12X chip, and support for a second-generation Apple Pencil.
It's not clear when the new iPad Pro models will be announced, but their debut is likely coming soon. We're expecting Apple to hold an event at some point in October, with the end of October looking like the most probable option.

and the screen loose the 4:3 ratio, so a change in definition would be mandatory.I just laid this out in affinity designer and those dimensions with a 6mm bezels all round would give the smaller iPad an 11.5” screen.
Maybe I can chime in with how I use my iPad.iPads go in bags. They need a bit of strength about them. Show me a group of people for whom the majority would rather have a fractionally thinner ipad at the expense of a headphone jack and i'll show you a group of people who either work at Apple, have more money than sense or are simply out of touch with what the purchasing public want.
whats new? google made fun about apple when they released the pixel 1 and after 1 year....it's typical..I’m LMAO this morning reading this....
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-note-10-headphone-jack/amp/
What’s funny is how hard Samsung and fans trolled Apple for removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack and now is going to serve themselves the biggest plate of crow anyone can eat!
Wait, make room at the table with all the androidswith notches too. LOL.

12.9” 4:3 screen is 262x197mm. The 2018 large iPad pro is rumored to be 280x215mm, or (262+2x9)x(197+2x9).
So, I have written 0.9mm instead of 0.9cm, obviously.
The thing is, either the dimensions for the small iPad pro are wrong, or the screen is not 4:3 anymore, or the bezels are not 9mm thick all around the device. There are two sources for the iPad dimensions rumor, plus a whole bunch of site that spread it. It seams no one care to do the math.
I just laid this out in affinity designer and those dimensions with 6mm bezels all round would give the smaller iPad an 11.5” screen.
Apple can call the ipad any name it wants and include any hardware it wants. The debate around the "pro" moniker and headphone jack is a red-herring. The consumer will vote with their wallet. That is not the point of the discussion.
Do you understand why apples other “pro” offerings still come with a headphone jack ?
You are completely correct and I will miss the headphone jack. I don't use it often but it is certainly nice when I do have to quickly edit some audio and don't have (or don't want to hook up) my Apogee ONE. However, I have a growing suspicion that either Logic X or FCP X will be ported to iOS soon and so Apple may address this issue. Whether it will be universal or just for their apps. . . who knows?Wireless headphones don’t work for professional audio/video editing due to the slight delay.
(And delaying video to match the audio only works for playback, not editing.)
I was under the impression Apple wanted to expand professional use of the iPad Pro. The 3.5mm port removal, if true, only diminishes it.
But no matter, Macs still accomplish the job with aplomb. For now.
While a bit disheartening, we could hold our outrage until the actual reveal when we know for sure, right? This is still a rumor.
I really hope these new iPads come out soon. I have grown to hate my 12.9” iPads form factor and would really like the 10.5” one but don’t want to buy a soon to be outdated model!
Sorry, but Apple has no business calling this "Pro" if they pull the headphone jack. They would be much better off pulling their heads out of their a%^&s than the headphone jack from something that audio and video professionals are supposed to use.
IMO, Apple want to do away with phone jacks in hoping customers would buy the AirPods just to make more money. If you want to pay more money for wireless, that's your choice to spend your money but there still people out there that still uses wired.Good. No one uses headphones on an ipad anyway. If you want to use headphones u should just buy the $160 AirPods.
edit: Just because you think you need wired headphones on an ipad doesn't mean you're right. if Apple is removing the headphone jack it's because you don't need a headphone jack.
