Will you buy direct from apple at a hopefully reduced price? I really want to take advantage of apples decent aftersales service if its needed... I fear a carrier purchase in the UK would be a bad move for me. At least with apple you know what you can expect.

Well I already have my SE 2 - got it through ATT. I did it because I knew I was passing it to my granddaughter when I get whatever phone I decide on in the fall, so it didn’t matter if I had it on a payment plan. I’ll buy my phone in the fall from Apple.

I've stuck with my 8 Plus... the new SE was tempting but the camera is not as good and I take more than a few photos with it. The X, 11 and probably 12 are just not all that interesting to me.

If you’re truly satisfied with your 8+, (which is actually my ‘work phone‘), then it might pay off for you, because it is slated for a ‘SE Plus’ Summer between the first and second quarter of 20 21. Which if that holds true, I think that will probably be the last time we see touch ID (From a physical standpoint) on an iPhone.

Okay I returned the 11 pro, and like 2 days later, got my Loopy case in the mail (I hated that I didn’t keep it to try with the Loopy - they just make all the difference). My plan was just to return the Loopy obviously, but holding it in my hand like I would if there were a phone in it, I would likely have no problem using the 11 pro one-handed.

So now I’m wondering if I made a mistake returning the 11 pro.

If the 12s have any of the following, I’d likely really regret having gotten an 11 pro this late in the game. What are the odds the 12s are gonna have:

usb-c (this would really only be for convenience because I’d be able to use the same cord for iPP and phone)
a drastically improved camera (can that really even happen at this point)
smaller notch (because I know they aren’t eliminating the notch)

I still don’t know that I’ll wind up getting the 11 pro, but I am really fond of the size and even though I love the SE, and think a full screen in that size would be great (as in the new 5.4), having a little more screen wouldn’t hurt my feelings either.

Just torturing myself a little more over it. I really need to get out the house. ;-p

Totally understand this mental merry-go-round. So, first off: compassion.

Second, the things in the 12 you want:

- Supposedly, there will be a smaller notch, but rumors/mock-ups show that it is still seems big enough to be a distracting notch?
- You mention a drastically improved camera, but I feel like I remember at some point you saying that you didn't need a fancy camera, just one good enough to take photos of your family. Seems like you'll be good with any of the choices there?
- USB-C plug sounds nice, but I will say that I often have to wait for my laptop to charge so I can plug in an iPad, so just to have more devices in the queue or more cords seems likely?

Maybe keep your Loopy case for a bit, and then if you buy the 11P again, in a week or in the fall, you'll have a case all ready for it. There's enough waiting in life: this could be a way to have one fewer thing to wait for! :)

Honestly, the notch isn’t a dealbreaker or anything - I just know I’d want a phone with a smaller one if it existed.

I did say that about the camera, but I’m a sucker for a better one, even if I don’t really need it, so if it was drastically improved in some way, I could see how that would make me want the new phone, even though I went backwards from my 11 camera to the SE2. Ironically, though I love having the better cameras, I really like the phones with the single, small camera lens - looks so much cleaner to me.

And yeah, I do get it with the cords/chargers. The thing is if I’m going somewhere just for a night or two, it’s nice to NOT have so much crap to bring.

I always wonder what ever happened to the keyboard being smart and adjusting for fat fingers. Doesn't seem to do that as much the past years, and autocorrect is worse too. It kept autocorrecting pasta which is an actual word to pasts.

And the good thing about 5.4 is that even if the body size is about the same, the screen will be bigger, so the keyboard should be bigger. The only thing I don't know is how will the width differ. Even with a longer screen but the same width, the keys will still be narrow, which is more of the issue for bigger fingers.

I keep going back and forth on the 11Pro vs 8 vs Pixel 3 (I flip back and forth between OS like an idiot). I'm on my 4th 11Pro (returned the first 3 each within 14 days, amazed I'm not on Apple's blacklist!). Still don't like the 11P much due to its lousy size & weight but in the interim I did sell my 8 so I'm down to an original SE, the Pixel and the 11Pro. I'm finally getting a bit smarter tho' by not giving away all my cases when I sell a phone, so if I do get a new SE I'll have the 8's cases to use. Pixel 3 is the world's greatest form factor IMO but even that is now discontinued so unless the 5.4" iphone is a home run it looks like there will be no new hardware for awhile. I have to confess I'm extremely disappointed by how far iOS now lags behind Android, at least the pure Pixel version, so I suspect the 11Pro will go before long, while it still has some value. I'm running Beta 14 and while it's stable it's not much of an upgrade especially from the Android point of view. Not sure the point of this reply but you're not alone in your indecision ;)

Why on earth would you buy and return the 11pro 4 times? Lol were they all defective?

Bought #1, hated it, returned it
Bought #2, disliked it intensely, returned it
Bought #3, didn't like it much, returned it
Bought #4 to keep in touch with my daughter when travelling (she has a SIM-less iphone so iMessages only!), still don't like it much but original SE too small and 8 not enough battery. FWIW also bought and returned regular 11, WAY too big.

Don't get me started on Androids...I think I was the first guy on the planet to embrace giant phones (Galaxy Notes 1 thru 5!) but now I can stand them, size is out of control, bought and returned 2x Oneplus last year too. Best/most useable phones to me in the last 3 years: OnePlus 5T, Pixel 3...and if Apple made a pro version 5.4 I'd be keen too, but they always seem to think "small" equates to "cheap", which is a load of crap.

Scroll to the video. This looks very promising to me indeed.

You and I share similar needs in terms of phone size I think. Whilst I cope with my 6.3 inch note 9 I kid myself when carrying this in skinny fit jeans!! Looking at the above video though does leave me feeling more confident in it not being too small as you will see it's actually not much smaller compared to the second device offered up to it :)

I saw that video in another thread - I though it looked like it was gonna be pretty small. It’s smaller than the SE, and I feel like SE is as small as I am gonna want to go.

I do believe though the 11 Pro size is the sweet spot.

Switched from an 11 Pro to an SE2. Battery is the only complaint. I realized I don't need a $1k phone when I'm doing all the same stuff on a $450 phone. Trying to sell my 11 Pro now.

I absolutely agree. It’s why I’ve really struggled with the fact that I think the 11 pro is the perfect size, having come from the 11 down to the SE2. I just think long-term I’d love the 11 pro size. Nothing in the 12 lineup looks like it’s gonna be perfect for me, and I knew going into the SE2, it would be temporary. My plan was always to use it until 12s came out then pass it to my granddaughter. Now I just don’t know if I’m gonna want a 12 at all, but I REALLY don’t want to spend $1000 on a phone - it’s just the principle for me. I mean an 11 pro phone would cost as much as my 11” iPP, and it just doesn’t make sense in my brain.

I’m definitely sticking with the SE2 for now and I guess I’m just gonna see if I’m compelled to change in the fall.

I'm leani more towards if the 12s don't suit I'll grab an apple refurb 11 Pro or go elsewhere to buy. It all reallu hinges on that 5.4 for me. Or who knows a pro size phone could be on thd cards but unlikely.

Well, I’m not going anywhere else. I’m pretty much in the Apple ecosystem for the long haul, but at this point, I am planning to hold out and see what the 12s bring before I make a decision.

Use your iPad Pro for most everything, and the desire to upgrade from your SE and spend more money, won’t really be a concern or constant focus, as the iPad Pro is so much better in numerous ways, than trying to use the iPhone for surfing etc.

It’s so big though. A big phone is like a cross between a phone and an iPad that you can put in your pocket. Ive seen 5 foot tall shorties sporting their max phones and one handing them too while pushing a stroller 😄

That’s what I’ve been doing at home for sure. It’s a little more frustrating when I’m out and just needing to kill time waiting in various places, so I’ll read or something on my phone, but as of now, I’m really trying to just use the phone only when I really have to. I mean for calls and actual phone usage, it’s awesome anyway - it’s only when I want to do other things. But yeah, that $1K price tag is just absurd. It’s not that I can’t afford it - it’s just the principle.

You might look into getting a messenger or sling bag for your iPad, which would make it a little more viable on the go. I ordered one earlier today (TomToc) from Amazon.

No - not Corona. I read about potential effects of 5G long before Corona.
Just a quick heads-up about that - the potential effects of 5G are exactly the same ones that were spread about 4G and 3G before that. There‘s no problem with that: For instance, every modern router puts out a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network simultaneously for years now, and nothing did happen. We already use frequencies both much, much higher and lower than 5G will use. These frequencies are being used for TV, radio, radar and other things. Nothing turned out to be a problem, so there‘s that. Just for your peace of mind :)

I bought the SE2 recently and I still own a 11 Pro. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge iPhone freak. I'd still prefer 11 pro over SE2 when I am at home and at office in my own space. On the move, I'd prefer the SE2 because it is far more user friendly physically in terms of the size and weight. Performance and features wise iPhone 11 Pro is still miles ahead. I don't mean to undermine anybody's opinion here. This is just my personal knowledge and opinion about this discussion. Thanks for bringing it up!

I agree with this post 100%. It’s also interesting that you bring up the 11 Pro being miles ahead in “performance and features”. I say this because people get the misconception that the SE has the same performance as the 11 Pro because they share the A13 chipset. I however do NOT find this to be the case. For the facts that performance is not just about the SOC.

You said what I feel a lot, but just have never typed it out lol.
