That's also true, but considering how much useful the original case is when compared to the SmartCover, I'm hoping they change their mind.

On the other hand, it's a shame having to cover such a beautiful piece of engineering under a vinyl cover.

I agree. I exclusively used a SmartCover and carried it in a sleeve, and my back was in pretty good shape. The only marks came from the smart cover magnets themselves.

I had iPad 1 with the Apple Case, and it added a lot of weight. I'd give up back protection for the convenience of the smart cover.

$39.99 Optional Controller..... BAM!!!!!!!! MEGA BOMB.... Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft just lost the console wars..

I admire your optimism, but without massive amounts of local storage it's not going too work to well. Nobody wants to sit through a multi-hour download just to get a "console class" game up and running - and then have to do it again every time they switch games.

$4.99 console quality games on the Apple TV

Unlikely to happen, development costs are massive for AAA games.

Luckily my return date on my Apple TV 2 is this week. But only 1080p for the upgrade...blahhhhh! I mean, since I just got my ATV2 for $99 and the current one will be $99, I may as well upgrade to the 2012 version...just an exchange. Just afraid the jailbreak will take a long time...:(

Apple TV Update

The BB2 accessory will be a bluetooth remote.

Steve Jobs said that in relation to the tablet market if you see a stylus you've failed so I severely doubt the new accessory will be any kind of ipad stylus.

ATV Wishlist:
-Supports airplay mirroring from Mac desktop
-A software update which brings a proper app store to the Apple TV and replaces the internet menu which is getting crowded with barely useful 'apps'
-keep the existing form factor

Wasn't that about the iPhone, where a stylus would be generally terrible? On the iPad, it could give you sketching and handwriting features. It's basically what a 9.7" screen is perfect for. Great for artists and students.

We're talking about the B82 accessory. Why wouldn't this be the right thread?

Mine is:

- 1080p
- AppStore
- Physical/analog controller

This is probably temporary, and by that I mean this product will be discontinued. They're obviously working on the new Apple Television which will eventually replace the Apple TV.

You are not understanding the market here. These are two DIFFERENT items and always will be. One is a set-top box that is meant to be like a Roku connected to a TV. The other that is speculated to be coming is an actual TV with the set-top box features built-in to it. For those that don't want or need an Apple TV, they obviously will still make a set-top box.

When looking for a case for my iPad 1, I saw lots of cases, and the one that didn't add much thickness to it was the Apple Case. All others made it almost as thick as a netbook.
Even newer cases I have seen wouldn't compare to how functional and slim the Apple Case has been for me.

I am only sort of looking forward to a new Apple TV. so far its just been "ok" with very little App's added for it.

How great if the Apple TV could

1- Slingbox receiver
2- Amazon VOD (including Prime) app
3- Vudu App (you think they would add that)
4- EPIX hd app
5- more apps to match all those.

It wasn't the thickness that bothered me, it was the weight. It made the iPad weigh as much as the 11" MacBook Air. When I took it out of the case, I could immediately notice all the weight relieved.

I can't verify it, but I think the iPad 1's back was way more scratch prone(due to the curvature or material used). If I still had the iPad 1, I would definitely be protecting the back.

This means 1080p video content to the iTunes store. Hope streaming quality is still good

1080p support on the ATV could simply mean that it now has the ability to play the 1080p video you capture with your iPhone4s. Maybe they added 1080p video capture I the iPad 3 as well.
Allowing it to stream via AirPlay would be excellent.
It doesn't mean they will offer 1080p content on the iTunes store.

Shows how much you know. First of all, people already do download for hours and switch games, myself included. Furthermore, $4.99 AAA games already exist on the market. Dead Space repeatedly drops in price, Rage was free for crying out loud.

That being said, I can see a controller being possible for the iPhone but the iPad is just too large to practically held that way. Unless it would be a plastic overly so you can "feel" where the buttons on the touchscreen are located.

I will buy it too. It also makes sense, at 39 USD doesnt seem like it'll be a smart cover. The current ones are in the 59-79 range

Poly covers are $39 in U.S. Maybe you're in a different country though? These obviously refer to US prices.
