My iMac order with upgraded graphics and CPU just got pushed back TWO WEEKS. I'm thinking an update is imminent. As much as I need a new iMac, I canceled the order. Just my two cents.
Just want to make sure what you meant by pushed back by 2 weeks. At the moment, iMac 5k along with few other Mac's has delivery date pushed to October 15, after any BTO selection. Is this what you are saying, or is it 2 additional weeks after Oct 15? So it would be around Late Oct/Early Nov.My iMac order with upgraded graphics and CPU just got pushed back TWO WEEKS. Where are you seeing this?
Apple US has delivery dates for Oct 6 the fastest.. for every single iMac on the page

German Store as well, it's just in the US for some reasonNot that it means anything but any customised 5k iMac in the uk is 2-4 business days.
Desparate for an iMac update as i refuse to buy year plus old tech (plus i don't fancy a machine that runs at 101 degrees c), will be gutted when they stick in the amd 395x or whatever it is and its no improvement on current chips and runs just as hot![]()
All retina iMacs will get a refresh. I don't see the 4K getting more recent hardware than the higher-end model. Apple never does that.Just ordered the i7 5K 295X iMac yesterday here in Australia. Got a good deal through my Employee Purchase program, saved $300 and this included Apple Care. Delivery set for the 12th October. Figure I will have 14 days to return it in case there is a refresh. IMO I do not think there will be a 27" refresh this year, most likely just the 21" to 4K. However if there is going to be one it will be by mid-October to make holiday sales.
Broadwell has some advantages for the current 21 inch iMacs in terms of speed improvements and integrated graphics, but not for the 27". So I actually could see them splitting it up staying with haswell for the 27.All retina iMacs will get a refresh. I don't see the 4K getting more recent hardware than the higher-end model. Germany -> next day deliveryHi everyone,
Here some research about stocks;
France: In-stock (6 Oct.) ---> 19-26 Oct.
Spain: In-stock (6 Oct.) ---> 15-19 Oct.
Japan: In-stock (7 Oct.) ---> 10-12 Oct.
Italy: In-stock (6 Oct.) ---> 14-16 Oct.
Turkey: In-stock (6 Oct.) ---> 21-23 Oct.
U.K.: In-stock (6 Oct.) ---> 14-16 Oct.
U.S.: In-stock (6 Oct. Fastest / 7 Oct. Free) ---> 15-19 Oct. (Fastest) / 19-21 Oct. (Free)
Any BTO extends the delivery +2 weeks or more. However, after 2 weeks if we see same delivery duration as MB pros was at may, an update might happen. https://www.macrumors.com/2015/05/13/15-inch-rmbp-supplies-continue-tightening/
Additionally, some countries says 5-7 days for some base model 21,5" iMacs.
Hopes for;
- Skylake CPU, (4790k is very good too)
- Other than a water boiler GPU for high-end,
- TB3 for TDM,
- 512 gb of flash as standard,
- 16 gb ram as standard,
- New keyboard, magic trackpad 2 and magic mouse 2.
After enormous raise in prices without any update in Europe zone, I want all of them.
Broadwell? In any event, if they're correct & the refreshed imacs deliver a much better display, that would be awesome.
Better ask her out because a clerk would have no way of knowing that.I was at the Apple store today looking at the 27" Ret iMacs running El Capitan.
One of the female workers there winked at me.....
Either she likes me or this is a sure sign the 5K is due for a refresh.![]()

"How do you get a "much better display" than a retina?"
KGI: upcoming iMac refresh taps LED phosphor material to boost color saturation of the display
I've read that also.....but that begs my second part of the question.
Would anyone really be able to notice?
Would anyone really be able to notice the difference between that and an existing retina?
The eye can only see so much.
I personally find it very hard to imagine a "much better display" than the existing retina 27"......that came when they went to retina.
Retina is about resolution, but there is so much more to image quality than that. Contrast, viewing angles, colour gamut, brightness, consistency. They all play their part.
Some people say they cannot see a difference with retina, so some people will say they cannot see a difference with better colour saturation. But many will be able to tell the difference.
