I agree with @jordanz. Why update pictures of a product you wouldn't update.
We might be seeing what we want to seeAnd the new picture has both a sky and a lake in it...

what is happening? why i see the old wallpaper?
It comes down to the way Apple's site serves media images. Basically they use a bunch of data servers in different locations around the world to deliver content - I'm thinking that the new image hasn't made its way to all the servers yet, so when some of us are connecting to our usual local servers we see the old pic. Just a hunch though.still the old picture !

More people are interested in iPhones, iPads & iPods than they are with iMacs.and yet all the rumours for the last 2-3 years came true regarding iPhones, iPad, macs etc
the leaks are huge

Unfortunately that NEW sticker has always been there - that's how they differentiate between the lower end 5k model they brought out middle of this year and the late 2014 first release model. From Australia: something is "new" but I'm not sure what, exactly, is new

Hopefully iMac price will stay the same in Australia - as @TechZeke just mentioned, prices just dropped $100 US in the US store, so I doubt they could justify hiking the iMac price again! Also, Apple is re-pricing the App Store based due to exchange rate movements. http://9to5mac.com/2015/10/12/app-store-prices-rising-in-australia/
I remember on at least one other occasion, they have released new products when performing this exercise.
