trusting and get your money back.
The longer they wait the harder it will be

I ordered my 8tb m2 kit back on April 29th, 2025.

@Jp925, this was posted earlier in the thread, at this point since you've been waiting so long, I recommend you look into that process as well:
Just in case you missed it from earlier in the thread, there is a regulator in France where you can file a dispute against the company if they are not refunding you. This would be separate from any recourse you may have with your credit card company (chargeback) or bank.

Just a reminder for recent visitors to the thread, there is a spreadsheet to help track self-reported data on Polysoft orders and refund requests since there is almost no solid information coming from Polysoft at this point.

If you are waiting on an order or refund and aren't listed in the sheet yet, please consider doing so to help everyone keep track of when (if) people are receiving their orders or refunds.

The tracking sheet is up to 24 orders listed as of this post, with 16 people having requested refunds or chargebacks and 8 people still waiting on their orders. Only 1 of the 16 chargeback / refund requested orders has been confirmed refunded so far for user adriaolea, who went to some pretty wild efforts to get a response from Gilles if you look at the post history on page 23 of this thread.

Gonna give it until December (8 months is my cut off) I really do want to believe this is the last delay!

Not quite ready to fold and buy from allied from a place that won’t have a warranty or potentially do the testing to find bad chips.
I understand your thinking about wanting to order from a place that offers a warranty, it's part of why I tried to order with Polysoft too. But just consider this about the warranty. If the shop can't even fill 300 outstanding orders right now and won't respond to anyone's emails, how long do you think it would reasonably take you to file a warranty claim, ship the failed drive back to Polysoft, and have them repair or replace it and return it to you? What would they even replace it with right now if they can't get 300 backlogged orders out the door?

You may technically have a warranty on the drive, sure, but I can't see any way that you're going to get a service you would actually be pleased with if you had to make a claim. By that measure, there is no difference between ordering from Polysoft or Aliexpress, except that with Ali you will receive your order about a week after payment. If you have a credit card that offers extended warranty benefits on purchases then that is probably a safer bet than relying on Polysoft to fulfill a warranty claim.

That's what I did TBH. I have an OWC Ultra Envoy, its sitting behind my studio, not even noticable. My initial speed tests showed it as fast as the internal storage.

I'm not knocking anyone who wanted, or has upgraded their internal storage, but I wasn't comfortable about the risk, that risk was my messing up my shiny new Studio, who knew the risk was not doing the upgrade but the purchase process
I did similar with 1M2 80G enclosure and WD850, initial tests were about as fast as internal storage.

I'm honestly giving Gilles the time he said it will take now with deliveries starting tomorrow but if nothing comes out of that I'll chargeback as well.
How much time are you willing to give him? Back a page a member stated he ordered in April, and is still waiting.

Regardless of Gile's intentions, waiting 6+ months for something that can be purchased on Ali Express and delivered in weeks is at best embarrassing, at worst fraud.

Honest question, we have 28 pages of posts, when was the last time we saw someone here in this thread receive their order?

Makes sense to hand out units to influencers to generate new orders, if that's indeed what he's doing. Somebody has to pay for the hundreds of failed units that he had to manufacture again.
Recruiting new customers to remain aflot so he might eventually fulfill backorders? Oh dear, that would be a telltale sign of impeding bankrupcy…
Anyone still on backorder should ask for a full refund NOW. No credit towards future purchases.

I'm sorry to see that this thread, "Upgrading Mac Studio Storage," has become a bulletin board for the Polysoft situation. Enough about Polysoft, let's talk about the options for upgrading our Mac Studio computers and, more importantly, how they perform once upgraded.

I strongly disagree, especially considering the numerous victims who are suffering from ongoing cases.

As I said the fanguyan option 8TB has been really good so far (3 days of testing and working under heavy load ..)

The only downside for this Ali express option was the included torx screws kit
Nearly all the included torx didn’t work. The 4 screws to dismount the aluminum cover of the Mac m4 studio are T10 but the included torx are only up to T9. Be very careful to not damage the screws because of this

If you go back and have a look. It was created by @gilles_polysoft
The fact that the delivery has been abysmal, is very concerning. This is the right place to discuss the issue.

Perhaps an administrator should explain the situation, from macrumors view. As @gilles_polysoft was suspended at one point for posting here.
Who knows if that is partly why he rarely replies here?

Right, but that's the only topic of conversation now.
There's enough material to be informed, and counting the daily amount of people who want to be reimbursed seems like too much to me.
A separate thread should be opened, but it's best to move on here.

Thanks for clarifying the T10 and T9 thing, very helpful to know before opening Mac Studio.

T10 or T9 is only the tightening slot dimension.
Screws are not sized by this.
Apple specifies bespoke screws for their computers, which the average vendor won’t necessarily have access to.

Apple use M series thread diameter and pitch, and Mn screws are available everywhere. n is the thread diameter in millimetres.
The universal size for retaining SSD or NAND pcbs is M2.5, 0.4 mm pitch and Apple’s own length of 3.8mm.
4 mm is the standard length, sold everywhere.
SSD screws have a wide flat head specification, with a Torx T slot, so may be more difficult to source.

I don’t know if the Studio uses M2.5, but it’s likely.

The choice is from Apple’s manufacturer, or from a repair shop that recycles old Macs. 😉

Of course in the far East everything is copied and manufactured…

Feel free to start a new thread about other SSDs if you would like. But given the amount of people that have hundreds of Euro, Dollars, etc. in limbo due to Polysoft, this is an important place to be collecting information and status updates. Even more because Polysoft's own website still links to this specific thread, so it is the only "natural" place that people can find a discussion about the issues if they don't have any prior knowledge of the problems.

I'm sure you'd feel very differently if you were out €1000 yourself, so just be glad that you have the luxury of not worrying about that. I would like to point out, in fact, that you were specifically able to benefit from the others in this thread sounding the alarm to help you avoid making a bad purchasing decision. It strikes me as rather hypocritical to want to "pull the ladder up" behind you, now that your needs have been taken care of.

@Glawen Clattuck Honestly, you’re making things way worse. Everyone can see you’re trying to downplay or derail the discussion, and that only makes Polysoft look even more suspicious. If there’s something to say, it should be said transparently and directly - not through sockpuppet accounts pretending to “move on.” You’re pouring fuel on the fire and killing whatever trust might have been left.

To be fair, @gilles_polysoft created this thread to sell Polysoft SSDs. There couldn't be a more appropriate thread for the many Polysoft customers that he is defrauding to voice their concerns.

That doesn't sound good. What caused @gilles_polysoft to be suspended at one point?

Well, My AliExpress 8TB purchased on 22 August 2025 is still running strong with no issues. I actually at one stage filled the drive all the way to 4TB of edited drone videos and it ran smooth before I moved it to YouTube and an external storage.

Just received my 2Tb M4 Storage, and paid € 293.13 (cheaper than advertised)
Ordered 27th October, it has taken Customs from 6th November till now to deliver it.
And only had to pay €8,63 Customs fee :)
