Classic case of not enough supply to meet demand, but lack of communication that makes matters 10x worse.
Maybe if he came on to update - any update - it would save him some sales, and some rep.
No, it goes beyond component constraints, why are numerous ali express able to ship these out but not Giles? I said this earlier in a thread. I had to deal with a similar situation, where someone used excuses to string me along and I finally had to take him to court.

Promises of future deliveries and impending shipments can be the M.O. of someone who just wants to collect the money and run. This may not be Giles, but the longer this has gone on the more likely its looking like fraud. I mean there are people here in this thread who were waiting since april. That goes beyond waiting for a shipment of nand chips.

Yeh you have a good point there actually.
It's just bizarre. Why would you take all these orders and then just go AWOL without any comms, no nothing? The fact that he is logging into the forum every so often shows he's still around. It's a shame it came to this as he was really on to something good!

Shame it's come to this, he's been in business for 43 years according to the website, probably a smaller local repair shop that has come up with a great idea that has quickly got a lot bigger and more involved than just repairing and it's all got out of control. That's my generous take on the situation. That said I've raised a complaint

Definitively a small local Mac reseller and repair shop, manned by a knowledgeable technician who put his expertise to devise very useful SSD upgrades. Unfortunately, in doing so he bit more than he could chew. And, most unfortunately, when issues piled up, Gilles took the wrong way of denying issues and digging in, hoping to eventually catch up.

As I mentioned, I dealt with a small businessmen who held my car hostage, and he gave me excuse after excuse about not doing the work, not releasing the car back to me. I finally had to sue him, and it was at that point I heard from others this was his M.O.

While Gilles may be sincere, it's definitely striking a chord with me, where someone has been making excuses to why people are not getting shipments, and he's been making those excuses for 6 to 8 months now. At some point those excuses start ringing hollow.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, and for his sake - a small business and the sake of people who ordered the product, things work out.

Maybe the chip factory that produced the first batches for Giles decided to setup their own shop on Aliexpress and undercut his business.

That and the bit with “200k worth of faulty components down the drain” also sounds to the tune of souring relationship. But if this were the case, why don’t we hear his side of the story.

My understanding is not that the chips were faulty, rather something about how the BGA pads on the PCB aligned with the chips was at fault and caused irrecoverable issues when initializing the assembled drives, so the NAND chips were functionally destroyed at that time.

From there it gets harder to determine what happened, whether it was a board design issue, a board manufacture issue, assembly issue, etc. I don't think there was enough detail made public to be certain. Someone else in this thread mentioned that a YouTube video demoing the SSDs had implied that Polysoft is soldering the NANDs to PCBs in house, so if that's accurate then it is not a subcontractor doing automated wave / reflow soldering to assemble the boards, which probably increases the chances for assembly errors.

But of course it's the poor decisions that have been made since then that are responsible for the dire state today, not so much the production issues. You can see in the thread how many people were very willing to be patient if only they had their messages replied to. Very sad for all involved.

If he would have shared a single photo of the 300 units he intended to ship, I would’ve reluctantly been more patient. That’s such a simple proof you could bring that within hours especially if you say they’re ready to ship.

Considering he hasn’t provided ANY proof at all, I consider this to be a scam now. If anyone still has ordered something with him, I’d highly suggest going with a chargeback.

Seriously it pains me to have to order from AliExpress instead as I would’ve loved to support a European business, however I can’t fathom how you can erode your entire trust like that.

What a shame. I stumbled upon his Kickstarter page and was genuinely interested, but after reading this thread… bummer 😒 I really hope everyone affected gets their order or at least a refund.
AliExpress works man. Many people have ordered from AliExpress.

I did ask this weeks ago. Even youtube already have a channel warning about his shop

The video in case seems claiming the product came from polysoft, but with no evidence that really came from.
I don't trust this one. At least for one simple reason ... no one has nothing since a long moment ... 😂

Angry customer : beware, Polysoft can fill a complain against the channel owner.

I will just say that I'm very glad to see the positive efforts of forum members here in helping potential customers avoid getting scammed.

I absolutely loathe seeing businesses, either big or small, take advantage of people and putting their hard earned money at risk. If we can help even a few people avoid this fate, I will feel very good about what has been accomplished. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Facts :
- Last seen Nov 13, 2025 on macrumors, (11 days)
- no update on polysoft since 10 november,
- no email or response on the website,
- not answering to google review
- no read receipt from fraud repression from signal conso...

- and no ssd or tracking number as promised for at wort last week ....

In short : NO LIFE SIGN :(

The 21st deadline came and went with no delivery. Never got a reply to my email. Contacted Polysoft again today asking for a refund. If I don't get one by end of week I'll do a credit card charge back.

At this point I think I'll just wait and get upgrade to the M5 Ultra when it comes out... stick with external drives / NAS until then.
