I know....it seems like they could give me a little more warm fuzzy feeling like it would def be ready for me to pickup when they open at 8:30 AM. Something like this:

Dear ToverT,
My name is Mr. Jones and I am the Regional Vice President of Pickup service at your UPS customer Care center. We have received your request to pickup your package at our facility tomorrow at 8:00 AM sharp.

Please be assured that I will personally come into work tomorrow morning early and retrieve your package for you. While I'm out in the factory retrieving your package please feel free to wait in our Customer Service Lounge where we will have coffee and donuts available while you wait.

Please feel free to contact me at my office or my home phone (Beachwood 45789) if I can be of any further service to you.

Mr. Jones VP UPS Pickup Service.

I called UPS and they told me they have a legal agreement with Apple that says they cannot hold for pickup until there has been 1 failed delivery attempt. I don't have My Choice so I can't do it online. I signed up this week but they have to mail me a code before it will activate.

That may be a Canada specific issue. I doubt that Apple is disallowing pick-ups, as every previous Apple release could be picked up at customer centers. IF Apple is trying to prevent pick-ups, that is simply malicious to their customers, and not good for business.

I feel like it more likely is a lazy representative who didn't want to help. I mentioned I knew of other people who were successful in doing this and he said that was impossible. I'm going to try calling again later.
 
For anyone worried about their UPS tracking page not updating, if you click on Live Chat on the bottom left, it will show you some extra information that sometimes doesn't pop up in the tracking page. It's small thing I noticed from previous iPhone orders.

I guess I'm waiting until they arrive at the house which is fine. I just looked for fun and see my delivery option has once again returned to my home versus the local center.

Soon as i get tracking from apple or see the package on my MyChoice
at the point i can change it to have me pick it up from a UPS store or hub???

Just got charged today , and now its being prep for shipment
Sadly i wont be home due to my granddads funeral so i would like to pick it up late rather then try to redeliver it .

I'm usually home so i've never had to change a delivery
Funny thing is i do it all the time at my job but its always after the fact not right before it ships and it for business not personal to home
 
My tracking status went from yellow "Delivery Change Requested" to green "In Transit: On Time". Does this mean my request for pick-up has been denied and I have to have it delivered?

Why does Apple care how we get our packages as long as they are signed for and ID is shown? Apple can be so infuriating.

I just saw this myself. According to this hold for pickup isn't available until they try to deliver so hopefully I won't have any problems because I selected it. Perhaps when Apple ships the option is no longer available? Mine is still preparing according to Apple and I found my tracking using My Choice. Maybe the trick is to select the option before being notified by Apple? My package has had no movement, just the label has been created in CA.
 
I did have my Watch being delivered to the local UPS store near, but changed it back to my personal residence as a UPS representative told me doing that would delay my receipt of the package by 1 business day (AKA wouldn't have it until Monday).
 
I'll be pissed if they have to attempt 1 delivery first

I'm just worried that selecting hold for pickup may delay the delivery attempt if hold for pickup isn't really an option. My tracking hasn't updated since I selected the option which other's have reported too.

I guess I should also mention that when I did this my delivery date of 4/24 disappeared off MyChoice, now it has nothing. Did this also happen to you?

That happened to me too , delivery date disappeared on me, I didn't panic though since my tracking number said delivered by tomorrow ( Friday 4/24 ) it appeared again after a couple of hours . Let it update , you'll be just fine ...

My tracking has been updated with an origin scan since I selected hold for pick up and I got ups notifications that it delivers 4/24 from the ups app

Has anyone live chatted to see if it will be like previous releases where you can get it when the location opens? Or where 1 attempt needs to be made before it's available?
 
I taked to UPS live chat for the 20th time lol they said that if you selected a Customer Center then a delivery WILL NOT be attempted. We are all still on for the morning :cool:

In the past, I've received a pickup notification at 10am even though my Customer Center opens at 8am. I'm going to try at 8am anyway this time.

Thanks for the info, I hope they are correct. I was afraid to ask because I thought they may change it then LOL
 
Never did this before but taking my chances with it for tomorrow. My delivery window was 2:30 to 6:30 and I have plans I can't change during the later end of that, so I'm taking a shot at being able to pick it up at a customer center 6 miles from home.

djuzi mentioned that they've talked to chat reps about 20 times and have gotten the same answer. Yes you can pick up when the CC opens. And no a first delivery attempt will NOT be made.

I also spoke to a representative and they confirmed the same thing.
He was very quick to respond... I'm sure they are getting this question repeatedly :p
