Does the status ever change beyond "Delivery Change Requested: Hold for Pickup"? I haven't gotten any exception notices as far as I know, though I don't check constantly, and my delivery date never moved past the third. I made the request about 3 days ago over the phone with UPS.

That's what I've been posting about all day. My status never changed, no exception shown, no nothing. Only difference between me and you. Mine shows

Delivery Change Requested:

Deliver to a UPS Retail Location - The driver will deliver your shipment to the UPS Retail Location you requested.

Even though it's actually being held at the UPS CC for me to pick-up, but instead it shows this.

This is my first time requesting a hold. I did it through the my choice app and now it says exception date tentative. Is this normal?

I just changed my delivery to hold for pickup at my local UPS CC! My mom's the account holder so the package is under her name. Have the same last name & address on my ID but I'm still a little worried UPS won't release the phone to me. If it doesn't work out thankfully I can just head back over there with her once she's off work. I'll still receive it a lot earlier than if I were to have it delivered at home so that's fine with me :) Friday can't come any sooner!

Everything is fine:

- ‘exception’ in UPS terms simply means change, nothing negative. Usually the customer is requesting a change in delivery (i.e. hold for pickup at one of the ‘nodes’, usually a CC where packages are funneled to prior to delivery).

- The status will change, and the when the packages run their way down the conveyer belts upon entry, when scanned the requested exception will appear and divert the package for pickup. The system will show a confirmation saying package available etc

- Usually this happens way early in the morning (at least in my neck of the woods) in order to send the drivers out as early as they can, to meet Apple’s requested last mile times. This is advantageous as this means our phones get priority scanning/sorting which means they will 9 times out of 10 will be available in time for opening of the respective CC

This would be the 3rd iPhone and 5th apple product i’ve Elected to claim the package this way and it hasn’t failed me yet. Every time I am there at all times of the day there is usually a long line but ironically no one else getting an iphone except me.

This sounds totally accurate. But quick question. Many others have stated they already had an exception show-up, and then clear/disappear. Is there a reason why I never got shown an exception for my package?

Great explanation, thanks!

Maybe it automatically cleared.

For those asking when you will be able to pick up your iPhone, when I requested the hold at the CC, it specifically told me “your package will be available on Friday November 3 at 8:30am”. This happens to be when my local one here in Seattle opens.

Did you all get the same message about being available when they open?

Okay here’s some real risky ****: I have my being sent to a UPS Store and I forgot I have a ticket so I have no license! I’m going to bring my work ID, credit card, tracking number, speeding ticket, pastor, old lady who used to babysit me and everything else I can think of and play dumb and hope for the best (kidding about the pastor and old lady). My thought is I can see the CC being stricter bc they’re the frontline shipping ppl that see a lot of fraud etc but the UPS Store employees are your average retail employees. If I keep showing them things with my name and face (I was like I can even show them my social media profiles lol) I can’t imagine they’ll be that hardcore. We’ll see!

Sounds right to me. I am closer to the Redmond CC so my packages go through there and they are always available at the opening time of 10AM when I hold them for pickup

That’s good to know. I was hoping I wasn’t just wanting to see “ready for pickup at 8:30”.

Btw, I’m not too much of a ‘hawks fan being from Philadelphia, but what an insane game on Sunday!

You’ll be fine, longest the address matches you are good to go. I remember before, I used to be in a family plan as well under my mother’s name. I would take my own ID with the matching address and everything went smooth. Been picking up my iPhone at my local UPS CC at every launch for years lol.

I held mine for pickup at a CC, but I still never got a confirmed delivery exception note on my tracking status yet. Anyways, a little more than one day left. My order still say's preparing for shipment on Apple's site, I hope they update it tomorrow with a link to the tracking number I've been following for days! Also my package last departed Anchorage, like so many of ours (I'm sure), on to Louisville!!!!!!! Let's go UPS and Apple, update your **** faster, two days left!

Alright, I just requested that my iPhone X be held for pick-up at the closest CC. And I got that dreaded “order will be available for pick-up on November 6th” message. Based on what others are saying, it seems like most people get that message immediately after the request. So, nothing to worry about right? I’m going to be stalking the UPS tracking updates and crossing my fingers that all goes well and I can pick up the package on Friday morning!

When I try to change mine to pick-up at my local CC it says available for pick-up on 11/3, but that the CC would contact customer when it's available for pick-up and at a specific time. I'm afraid to do that because I have no idea what time frame they will give and if I'm not available during that time window, I would essential mess myself up....go figure!

As far as I know, you have all day to pick it up, and they will hold it there for a max of 5 days before they return it to the sender.

When I chose the hold, it gave me a message of ready at 8:30am immediately. I’m not sure about the people getting the 11/6 date. I don’t know if they are trying to pick it up at a ups store or somewhere else.

Does it say that they will give you a specific time? At my CC any package that is processed as a "hold for pickup" is sorted overnight since that is when all the magic happens. Most, if not all, hold for pickup packages are ready for pickup at opening time but your shipping status will normally change to ready to pickup before anyone from the CC calls you.

Would an electric bill be sufficient to prove the name/address are the same? I'm a student out of state so my driver's license address is different than my shipping address.

What's odd is the other day, it showed their hours of operation from 3pm - 7pm Mon.-Fri. and yesterday I noticed it says closed during Mon.-Fri. now. So it made me leery of placing a hold on it at that CC. Unfortunately it's the only CC coming up in my area.

Mine showed hours of operation unknown when the page comes up to confirm that choice. Although the other day it showed pick up time between 3pm -7pm Mon-Fri. On the initial page where you can scroll through to choose which facility to have it held at, it shows the hours of operation as closed. Really weird.

I would go on the UPS website and look up your UPS CC. Look for will-call hours, that should be your window to pickup. For some reason some places have will-call later in the day, which can sometimes defeat the purpose of doing a hold for pickup since you won't be able to pick it up earlier in the day but its also safer if you don't want any packages sitting at your door.

This is what mine says when choosing the CC near me and it comes up as 1st in the list of choices.....

One last question, would it really be the case that you can't pick up a shipment held at a UPS store (as opposed to a CC) until the next Monday? When trying to have it sent to the store instead my estimated delivery date does change to 11/06, but the UPS store is literally next door to my apartment and open on weekends. Shouldn't I be able to pick it up on Saturday at the latest? I can't understand why it would take them 3 days longer to deliver to one of their own stores rather than my apartment when they're right next to one another. Do UPS stores just not receive deliveries on Fridays? That seems unlikely.

Just looked for the location and it doesn't come up. I would love to hold it at CC for the reason you stated, although I know a signature is supposed to be required so the driver shouldn't be leaving it on my doorstep. I'm fine with later in the day will-call hours, but I don't want to request it if I don't know before hand what the hours of pick-up will be.

When I worked at one the customers package would arrive at the ups store the same day it was due for delivery to their home. It kind of depends on the drivers route if the package would arrive at the store earlier in the day or at the same time they picked up the ground packages from the store(usually an hour or two before closing). They get scanned into the stores computer and you get notified plus your tracking status changes to let the customer know its at the ups store. If for some reason it arrives later in the day Friday you should definitely be able to pick it up Saturday from the UPS store. I think its kind of a computer glitch(11/6 date) people get since weekends aren't considered delivery days at UPS
