Since Apple uses UPS 2nd Day Air, we should have our tracking info by tomorrow for those who ordered through the Apple website.
Not for iPhones - in the past they were shipped International Express Saver service from China.

Since our phones appear to be coming from within the USA, most likely if the distribution warehouse is located nearby, it will ship UPS Ground (like my Mac Mini on launch day) for next day delivery.

If you are further away (not Zone 1 or 2) then it will ship UPS Next Day Air Saver.

I have a 1 pound package coming from Carlisle PA via next day air saver.

Must be my 17 pro as I don’t think they would send the return kit next day air
That’s exactly what it is. I have the same package coming from Carlisle, PA and its associated with the order no. for one of my phones.

I think that's where I'm at. Either coming from 1 state over or local?

No matter where the distribution warehouse is located, you will receive on the day promised - Apple is very good with that.

My local Apple warehouse is in Rialto or Fontana, CA - I know because launch day items have shipped via UPS Ground and arrived on launch day.

The last item I got from China on launch day was the Apple Vision Pro - that was fun to track UPS planes (took 3 different flights)...

I really miss the flight tracking of iPhones since I am an aviator.....

This is my first time ordering directly from Apple and I was kind of looking forward to tracking it from China. But, today or tomorrow I will hopefully see something.

Do you have a tracking number? If not, that's the whole point. It seems none of us can track by reference until we have a tracking number, by which time it's not necessary to track by reference.
No, I don't have a tracking number, but I’ve always tracked with reference before I get the actual tracking number from UPS. Sometimes I track by reference on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Your reference number is just your order number this time there is no phone number in my reference numbers just my order number and possibly the serial number

For my 17 Pro Max orange, UPS my choice has a label created from Carlisle, PA for Friday. 1.3 lbs which I assume includes the kit to trade in my 13 Pro Max.

You don't get a serial number until it flipps to shipped. Then you can view your invoice that has the serial number.

I have a tracking number in UPS My Choice, but states it is not officially in the system yet. Could it be my iPhone. Interesting.

My reference numbers from UPS are my order number and another number that’s random so I was thinking the other reference was possibly my serial number but it could just be a random number

Can one transfer phone to phone via USB-C cable instead of WiFi ?
Yes, I was using my Thunderbolt [USB-C] cable last year phone to phone when I unexpectedly had to leave the house with the donor phone. lol

@rui no onna mentioned previously that the phone to phone is the least reliable method, if i understood the post correctly.

It was working, but slower than I'd anticipated, and very frustratingly slow as I had to unplug and hit the road when i tried it.

Not sure how it works, but I do have a 600GB photo library that I had changed to "optimized" instead of "original" files and perhaps it still had to download the entire Library? I do know my current phone contains an optimized Photos Library and shows less than 200GB total on the phone, but the encrypted backup is the same 750GB that was on the phone before I switched it to optimized over the weekend.

It sure can get complicated, eh?

This is my first time every doing in-store pickup.

For those going to the store Friday, have you seen any change from the Processing status? I guess it would make sense that there isn't much movement since it's not being shipped to us. Just curioius.....

i'm only seeing the "label created but UPS not in possession" when using the order number to track my AW. that order was made on the keynote day. the ip17 order number is not found in UPS's system. so i guess indeed things are different this year. it's the first time i've done a launch day delivery in a while.
