My two iPhone 17 pro max silver 512gb just change to Preparing to ship and got charged for them. Original estimated ship dates were October 13-20

Just came here to say my Orange PM 256gb with the same range just got charged 6 mins ago.

Hopefully they ship later tonight and we get overnight w/ Saturday delivery or we get them on Monday.
 
I’d been getting a little bit more impatient this week wanting to upgrade. My wife and I are both upgrading this year. I almost placed the order last week when delivery estimates were one to two weeks, but held off because Apple Support claimed if I had the new phones delivered, I had to mail back the trade in, I couldn’t return to the store.

I’ve been checking availability all week. Best I ever saw was one of our phones at a further away store, never both available at the same store. Delivery times also increased to two to three weeks.

Much to my surprise, both showed available for pickup tomorrow at my preferred store. It was a race against time to get the orders placed. At first the website even said pickup was not available. I flipped to delivery, then back to pickup and it allowed it. Additional delays, I could not order both phones at the same time since it was a carrier finance. Then, I had to add my wife as an account manager, because my number already had an order tied to it.

But, I got both orders placed.

What I’m now wondering is can I pick them up tomorrow but not activate them at the store? I’d prefer to just bring them home, activate them Sunday, since Saturday is a packed day, then drop off the trade ins at the store next week sometime. This also gives me a fall back in case one of the new phones turns out to be a lemon. I know I’d have the 14 days to ship them if I was shipping.

Edit to add: question appears to have been answered in the 7th email I got. Yes I will have 14 days to return back to the store.

For shipping yes.. but today I started to see in stock to pick up in some stores. It was the first time I saw the Silver Pro Max 512 available to pick up
Oh my, I searched online for a couple of days to find an Orange PM 512 GB available somewhere here with no success. I finally was able to place an order online (after an initial order didn’t go through somehow and I was waiting for updates while it was in the air), and it said to be shipped around Oct. 19-21; now it says Oct. 23 😔
My biggest issue is that my old 14 PM has its storage maxed out and I cannot use it now. I also cannot carry my IPP 13” around in my pocket either. 🥺
 
For those that are looking. There are 3 Chicagoland Apple stores that have the silver 512GB 17PM in stock for pickup
I’m not in your area but am still searching around, maybe I get lucky tomorrow…

Nvm, just checked and the one or few available in a store 30 miles away earlier today are now gone.

I also checked an upgrade through my wireless carrier and it shows an estimate delivery date a whole week earlier than my placed order. Any advice if I should wait on my previous order, maybe Apple will ship it earlier, or to cancel and upgrade with the new, sooner delivery date? Thank you for any input.

Yeah, as taynasoldera first discovered, availability is getting a little bit better. In many places, 256GB and 512GB Pro Maxes are mostly available, although scattered across several stores. I've found Orange 512GB Pro Maxes in Southern California, Northern California, and NYC.

I don’t understand, my delivery window starts Oct 10-17 and status still remains processing! Does it make a difference which model , storage you choose affects the delivery? 😞

It might be so. I have ordered iPhone 17 Pro Max silver 256gb and I have same delivery window. My order have just changed to "We’re preparing your order and will notify you when it ships".

Hope they ship it soon.

I ordered 17 Pro & Max both silver and 1TB as soon as pre-order opened, delivery was Sep 19th up until the night of the 18th when it changed to Oct 10-17 😔

It's not the 17th yet. It could go preparing to ship as late as the 16th.

Update: Just got my UPS Shipping Notification. Coming from Indiana using "UPS Next Day Air Saver" but im getting quoted Monday for delivery. Hopefully this changes and I get it tomorrow.

Usually Apple products with Next Day {whatever} will get delivered to me on a Saturday as long as they are at the hub before 7am Saturday morning cause thats when trucks get loaded for delivery in my area.
 
I hate Apple now. They changed my preorder again. I have new dates — October 16-20 and still processing. What about you?

Apple Support is correct, it is not just a claim. If you purchase online for delivery, your are required to send it back. You can't return it to a retail store.

Apple charged me and changed the status to preparing to ship. However the arrival dates are October 16-20. It was September 19 originally and October 10-17 after the first backorder.

I don't understand why arriving dates are late although the status is preparing to ship which is one step backwards from shipping.
