That’s the iOS version I’m on as well and I’m going to pause automatic updates. In previous years when I updated to the new release of iOS proceeding the acquisition to the new phone. The new phones iOS was actually older than the one that got updated which caused a problem. As long as your old phone is on an iOS older than the new phone the migrational can proceed without problems. It’s only when the old phone has a newer iOS than the new phone that problems occur. At least that’s been my experience. I’m not an expert. I did ask ChatGPT and it said that if there was an iOS mismatch that the migration assistant would pause and allow you to update the operating system on the new phone and then pick up the migration after the update.
I’m going to do it when it becomes available, because iirc (maybe I’m remembering wrong), the old phone has to be updated before the new one will allow everything to transfer over. My impatient self doesn’t like to wait lol.
I'll try that first when I get mine this Friday.
Should it fail, I will update the old 16 Pro phone which is going to be traded in.
It's now Monday in China or India - whichever will be shipping from.
I know because when I call my family in Asia, I have to add 17 hours to my time.
I ordered my 17 Pro Max 256 through T-Mobile on 09/12 at 10:30 am and I got the UPS tracking showing up in my UPS account since yesterday at 10 am. T-Mobile ships from the US, though.
Not you current phone…. You new phone will have iOS 26 on it from the factory but it likely will need an immediate update when you receive it. I think both my 15 and 16 ProMaxes needed updating right out of the box.

We went through a mess a couple of years ago with IUP phones and changing AC to Theft and Loss (because we were gonna be traveling overseas) when it wasn't the standard. Got it changed by calling Apple. (Turns out that shouldn't have been allowed.) Then at IUP renewal time found out that it had broken IUP so had to set up new IUP and after an hour at the local Apple Store, they took the old phones since I couldn't trade them in normally and gave me Apple gift cards for them.
Totally cluster. As you've found, don't f with AC in the IUP. 🤣

My very first iPhone was the 4s, beautiful white. I don't need no stinking iPhone, I said for months while taking hours to push buttons to get to what I needed on my Windows phone. Of course I eventually caved. I'm not sure they even did pre-orders back then, I think that was 2011. I went to the Apple Store at 3:30 AM on launch day to stand in the already long line. I was living in a major city at the time. At about 6 AM a guard told us we all had to move to a different area. By then there had to be at least 100 people behind me. Everyone RAN. I refused to run, it was so sleazy to try to beat others to a better place in line. I ended up almost at the end of the new line. I had a work meeting at noon I couldn't get out of, barely got my phone in time. "Sorry I'm late folks, had to get my iPone" just wouldn't have worked. It would have been kind of fun, a little society of Apple lunatics, if not for the stampede when we had to move. I've kept my oath to never again stand in line on launch day without a pre-order.
He ordered his from the carrier, so tracking will be different from Apple Store orders. In past years, each carrier had its own preorder thread so they were separate from the Apple direct orders, but this year there seems to be only one thread.

No UPS tracking # for me and no results yet when I track by reference.
Still have my Org 256 PM at 9/24-9/29 and the order went in about 8:15 ET. Started at 8:05 but it spun and spun. Still can't believe delayed because of stock that quickly. Another Silver 256 Pro at 8:05 no issues 9/19.

I'm so boringly practical Silver makes sense so the anodization doesn't wear away, but I do use cases.
Tempted to change my order to dark blue because it's more subtle and when watching video I want have a shiny silver border around the front of the phone.
