Is this the first year that the Apple Store and the carrier pre-order threads for the US have been combined?

Yes - The user(s) that used to create these threads and pump life into them are no longer on MacRumors. When they were around, there were individual threads for the different carriers and retailers versus the one size fits all approach this year.

Apple uses both. I have been pre ordering phones and other devices through Apple since the iPhone 3S has come out, and it’s been a mix. They even have used DHL once or twice. UPS does deliver the majority of the time, but it’s not exclusively UPS. In fact, my Apple Watch that I pre ordered is coming via FedEx express delivery.
You've had iPhones delivered by other than UPS? I believe Apple has an exclusive contract with UPS for delivery of iPhones.

Actually I don't think I'm right about that. They only use UPS the most for iPhones but they don't have an exclusive contract. Just my experience that all my iPhones have been delivered by UPS, and most other Apple stuff. Anyway, idc as long as the driver gives me the opportunity to sign.

They do. Anything that guy ordered that wasnt delivered UPS was either A. Not an iphone or B. iphone financed by a carrier like ATT etc

Charged for everything today, a few hours ago. I also have a pending charge for the Air I ordered but cancelled so hopefully that pending charge gets dropped.

I remember in previous years there was a two iPhone order limit per customer. Is that no longer the case? Because technically I had 4 phones ordered on Friday no problem.

Guys what cases are you getting? I am thinking of ordering the greyish silicone one from Beats by DRE. Costing me 59ish. Would be a good match with my silver PM

I have had phones delivered by FedEx on launch day more than once.
Same here - FedEx has delivered iPhones to me in the past for mishandling my order.

iPhone 14+ was a local Apple store delivery via FedEx because Apple messed up.

And I have had launch day Mac Mini and Studio Macs delivered by FedEx as they were already stateside.

I think the confusion is where the phone is ordered from. When you order from the carriers they usually ship by fedex. Apple uses UPS.
Not necessarily. I ordered the 17 Pro Max Orange 256GB with T-Mobile and yesterday morning I got the tracking number showing up in my UPS account:

I really liked the iUP program in the early years, but they became more difficult to work with through the years. After my phone CS episode this summer, I'm done! Especially with how easy the Apple Card 24 month process is! No extra payments to track on another site or app, it's built into my Apple Card statements/payments.
But you don't get the trade in after 12 months to get a new phone, right, with the straight ACMI? I thought I saw you could use the AC for the IUP which would eliminate the new loan every year.

With ACMI, if you want to trade in your phone after a year, you can. But, you still need to pay off your Apple Card credit card balance for the original phone’s purchase. So, it doesn’t work quite like the iUP.

The ACMI is just a credit card purchase using your Apple Card where you can carry the balance of that specific purchase without it being subject to interest (as long as you pay per the agreement.)

I wouldn’t come in here and lie about something so silly. I’ve had deliveries from both on launch day. Don’t know why that’s so hard to believe lol
No one is accusing you of lying. Ive seen the contract when I worked for Apple. The contract is still ongoing. Any non financed carrier iphone is delivered by UPS in the USA. All these other people are exceptions. Fedex delivers it from the store bc of a mishanding. Exception. Someone ordered a ATT from Apple.com Fedex. Exception.

If you order a iphone that is unlocked or connected to any carrier, its UPS. Exceptions arise in locations UPS doesnt deliver too or weird one offs.

I did a ChatGPT on this question of what company delivers launch day iPhones purchased from Apple. I got a fairly lengthy reply, but attached the summary. Notably, while carrier purchase is a factor is possibly using FedEx or another carrier, so is customer location, even when ordered from the Apple Store. This was spelled out in a bit more detail in the main response, but still suggested in the summary.

Let it go, man. Just let it go.
