I tried to “get ready“ for pre-order tomorrow while trying to apply the Verizon deal and it’s not letting me complete the process of getting ready. Is there a certain order I need to do it in? It’s like the button to click for “get ready” is greyed out.
Mine was like that until today, I don't know what changed, but it was available this morning and I was able to complete.

Does anyone know if the pro Max sells better than the pro?

Judging by the unscientific pole at the top of this thread, it seems that it does, but I’m not sure.

If this pole is any sign of real life, then I shouldn’t have any problem getting a pro

Getting the iPhone 17 Pro Max - donno why, but my Day One iPhone 14 Pro has terrible battery life and I had to get its battery replaced and even after replacing the battery, I can only keep it for around 1/2 of the day without need to re-charge it.

That is why I am getting the iPhone 17 PM - hopefully I can keep this thing with me without constantly worrying about recharging it throughout the day.

FYI, here is my battery health on my current iPhone 14 Pro, on which I had the battery replaced at an Apple Store:

The battery was replaced just last year too and it is already down to 86%??!?!

This site and the yearly tracking fun has become a part of why I love the iPhone launch. I don’t post much, but constantly read this thread each and every year. Thanks to all who make this so much fun. It wouldn’t feel like launch week without it. It won’t be long and we all will be waiting for our phones to head into Anchorage!
Exactly, this. I remember 2020 - that year was insane - not just because of the pandemic, but also how Apple showed everyone they have mastered the art that is supply chain logistics and still was able to deliver iPhones on time, when everyone else was scrambling to get their phones out the door...

adding to this - there were scalpers everywhere that year - the Xbox Series S and X launched, as well as the PS 5, if you recall, but Apple didn't have scalper issue - you could confidently order the iPhone on their website that year, without any crashes or issues and your order was processed without issues.

Yes. This is similar to the route I’m going with. I’m planning on ordering via the Apple Store but I’m purchasing the phone outright (after a trade in). The Verizon “credit” was tempting but there’s always a time that I want to pay off the device early, and you can but will lose the bill credits. So, I’m avoiding that this upgrade and purchasing the phone outright.
Agree, if you get a new phone every year or two, the Verizon deal doesn’t make sense or cents.

Cannot order until Saturday through our carrier (which will also be new for me) but i’m looking at the pro max in what i hope doesn’t look like circus peanut orange.

It does, there's a ton of data over the years to support this and it's also why Apple devote the biggest production chunk to the Pro Max.

THIS! Same thing happened to my 14 PM. I cant stand that I can't get through a complete date without having it at 30-35% by around 3-4 pm when i take it off the charger around 5:30 am. Im not a heavy user, Im not playing games throughout the day, just checking emails, texts, a couple of YT vids, and browsing the internet.

Guys, I have a few questions. Kindly bear out with me:

1. Is anybody bothered by the fact that Apple's AI doesn't come near to Gemini or Samsung's Assistant or whatever? Does that make you not switch to iPhone 17 series?

2. Apple's 40W ~ 60W charging brick seems too expensive for my need. I was thinking to get UGreen 30W or some other 30W-40W charger. I understand that the phone decides how much current to draw, but asking just for the sake, is a third-party fast charger harmful for iPhone's battery?

3. Your experience on Apple's clear case. Since I am going for silver Pro max, the clear case seems to suit best for it. But does it get yellow faster? Is it advisable to get it or should i look for a third party one? The only thing that bothers me a bit about third party one is that I don't know if they'll fit the frame well enough as the iPhone is not in the market, or not sure if they released the dummy to the vendors early.

Let me know your thoughts on either or all of the questions above, thanks.

Going from 13PM to 14PM proved to me that not all iPhone battery life stats are equal. The 14PM should technically last 1 hour more than the 13PM yet the 13PM always felt like it was a battery + efficiency tank, I could go all day and night with it and have just enough juice for the next morning. The 14PM somehow felt worse, I HAD to charge every night.

The 11 Pro Max is one of the best iPhones ever made, the primary camera on that device is one of the best cameras Apple have ever released. I see 11 Pro Max photos taken today that I think look better than all the iPhones that came after it including the 16PM. The 11PM balance was PERFECT because photos still looked REAL, before all the Photonic Engine oil painting crap.

Newer and more 'advanced' does not always mean better :(

Going to generally agree with this, but MIGHT be other variables that come into play on pre-order day. Region, color, storage size, so YMMV re person asking about the poll numbers.

One of the sites that posted sales by model in 2025 showed "plain" 16 as biggest seller world wide, closely followed by Pro Max.

Back in the day when I last did these September pre-orders (been a long time since I went 2020 SE in 2020 and newest is a 13 Mini in 2023 before end-of-sales on those), varied a bit on availability based on the mentioned model, storage, color, and even then, by carrier (plenty of a configuration if ATT but not so if Verizon for example).

So, my experience, but take with a huge grain of salt as my experiences are dated.

I think they did in the past. I have always picked the pro max but this year I’m going pro

1. Not bothered really, I think Apple will take their time but the end result will be better than the competition because Apple have a gigantic lead in developer adoption. For other "AI" stuff I mostly use dedicated software for that task (ChatGPT for example). A lot of the Gemini + Samsung stuff does not appeal to me personally, e.g, the image editing stuff is a fun party trick that I used once on my S25 and never used again.

2. Get an Anker charger, great quality and bang for your buck. Ignore the naysayers that are mad about Anker's security blunders with their home security products, their chargers remain some of the best options on the market. Using a third party charger is not the harmful thing, fast charging is (even if you only use Apple's charger) which is why some people like to charge with a slow charger overnight (and limit the max charge value to 80-90%) to really take care of the battery's long term quality.

3. I think Apple's clear case is the best quality, it does not yellow as quickly as some of the cheaper alternatives I've seen from Amazon, etc. I think I have an old iPhone XR clear case somewhere that is filthy but not yellow.

1. Nope, I don’t rely on AI for my personal needs so this doesn’t bother me. Siri has been way behind most others, including Alexa since it started. I’m hoping they get it together but Apple continue to struggle in this segment.

2. Should be fine, I use my MacBook charger as well as a different third party fast chargers on my 16p with zero affect on battery life. I mostly wirelessly charge unless I need it to be quick and have not had an issue.

3. My wife used the Apple clear case for while, it did yellow but it took some time. Not sure it’s worth the premium over just a generic clear case on Amazon though. They all yellow eventually.

Hope this helps!

Not really. I don't use AI much in my day-to-day existence. And I've noticed that Siri is getting marginally smarter. The other day when I asked a Home Pod what was on my grocery list, it could tell me. That's a new thing. I used to just say, "open your phone and I'll show you." Baby steps, I know.

I would like to preorder but I’m in a different state for work. Would I even be able to do it? I’m thinking I’ll be home mid October… should I just wait until I get back?
