Question for anyone who has already done the Pre-Order Preparation Check on the Apple Store app.

I finished the process, but I didn't see anywhere to put in my shipping address. I'm assuming that's because nothing is shipping yet, but I'm just making sure I didn't miss anything. It's been two years since I last did this, so I'm not sure if the shipping address and other stuff will be prompted during the actual pre-order.

Did you get a shipping address field or prompt? (I did it using the T-Mobile carrier option.)

You'll add the shipping and payment info at checkout Friday morning.

I feel like this process of trying and failing with the Veterans store is part of my personal iPhone purchasing ritual. Saving the ˜$100 is worth it, for me.
Ha! Am I wrong that I was able to do this for the 15? I know I got the discount and I was literally #1 in line to pick up 2 phones, 2 separate orders. Hmm...

It's super annoying seeing the banner to do get ready in the portal - why put it there then take off or never add that option!

I assume it's the same on the app? What would be the fastest way to do this - applepay, and form fill I'm guessing...

Anyone with a pro max switching to air.. what made you decide that? I’ve had pro max for the longest and I was stuck between pro and air, didn’t want max anymore cause I want to use my phone one handed again without stressing my hand out lol.

Air is beautiful but I think I decided on the pro due to yes I play games but not high intensity ones, so kind of worried about the air not having a vapor chamber and it getting hot. The 15 and 16PM sucked for heat especially during the first few betas of iOS 26.

Also, the air missing the telephoto and ultra wide cameras… telephoto I don’t think I’d miss that much but I definitely do use my cameras a lot for trips, and also the video recording not being as strong on the air. The lack of extra speaker wasn’t a deal breaker but I’m not sure how not having the studio quality mics would be.

Honestly the dealbreaker ended up being the camera for me so I went pro.

I still lowkey want the air though… but I’m getting the fold next year so do I just get the air now or stay pro? Apples “can’t decide guide” didn’t help worth anything lmao

FWIW: I've been on Team Pro Max, 11 through 16 (oh, and XS Max, haha!!).

It was for the big screen. But I didn't like the bulk.

My favorite pre-X iPhones were the 6+/6S+/7+. So thin and light.

The Air looks like it will give me the thinness of the 6/7, big screen, and A19 Pro chip.

I'll miss the macro a *bit*, but not that worried about it.

I've got a Sky Blue 1TB pre-ordered for tomorrow.

You can add shipping information during actual pre-order. You can also choose to do in-store pickup.

Too many porch pirates nowadays so I’m doing ISPU.

This is my Christmas time. That's what I tell my wife every year anyway. She's suspicious.
Same - My wife hates that I have to get the new iPhone on launch day every year. I try to explain that it brings me soooo much joy, I am like a little kid on Christmas. China is the North Pole. 747s are the sleigh. Tim Cook is Santa.

She just doesn't get it.

Coming from a 15 Pro which is perfect for me size wise. Smallish hands so a little concerned about moving to the Air though it does seem like it's only a teeny bit bigger than the 17 Pro. Don't really "need" the Pro extras, as it's always been a bit overkill for me, but still debating between these two

Anyone stuck between the Air and Pro coming from a Pro?

The app has historically refreshed quicker then most when pre-orders go live.
My anecdotal comments: I usually open iPhone's Apple Store app, iPad's Apple Store app, and Safari browser on my Mac at least 5 minutes before the 8am EDT (used to be 3am EDT, very grateful for new time!) and then i wait. I have ordered on the screen of the first device that offers the open store. It is not the same device/app every time, so I use every device every time. I'm quite certain that I ordered my 16PM via MBP Safari last year, and completed the order before the iPhone app showed the store as open.

I do know that almost every year there are improvements in the process, or at least changes that make definitive statements about "best way" unreliable. Ordering can be quite an adventure! I have ordered every new iPhone update on pre-order day since the original iPhone, which I purchased two weeks after it launched. Recent years have been so much better, especially after I switched to Apple Store purchases after ATT effing my orders repeatedly. I have since moved to T-Mobile as my carrier, but all my iPhone orders are through the Apple Store.

I have found the freedom of the Apple Card 24 month 0% financing to be far better than any option the carriers offered, and ordering through Apple is so much more reliable. This year I have preauthorized Apple Card pre-preorder and imagine that'll make Friday morning even easier.

It was almost anticlimactic last year to complete the order at 8:05 with launch day delivery date when in years past I was still trying to get ATT page to open and complete an order at 8:30. My quickest ever order on ATT, i think it was for the iPhone 6s Plus, was so exciting, but i got an email not long after saying my order had been canceled. This lead to my only year of standing in line at Best Buy to order the wrong color and wrong storage so that I'd have a launch day phone. lol

Good luck everyone!

This will be the first year in a while that I dont preorder. I cannot decide between the pro, air, and just keeping my 16 pro. I like the dark blue of the pro but don't love the design overall. I like the air, except for the glossy frame, but am unsure about the single camera.
This is a year where I have to seem them in person to actually understand if I like any of them.

747s are the sleigh. Tim Cook is Santa.

She just doesn't get it.
I moved to minutes from the Apple Store, so this will be the first year more than a decade that I'll not be tracking my iPhone on UPS across the ocean. That should save me a lot of time as I won't have a tracking number to compare to UPS departures and arrivals.

My favorite was when it was on a new 747-8, as my favorite plane ever to fly on was the old United 747s. Several years ago I got my iPhone just days before I flew to Hong Kong, and my new iPhone got to travel the same flight path backwards as we flew over Anchorage and into HKG.

One year I was tracking my UPS flight from Anchorage to Louisville on Thursday night before the Friday delivery. A thunderstorm over Chicago and Michigan forced the flight way east to fly over Ohio and I actually heard it fly over my house in Cincinnati on its approach path into SDF. Almost could hear the jingle bells jingling like on Santa's sleigh.

PS I'm not doing very well in the "saving time" by not posting here while tracking my phone's journey. And i haven't even ordered yet!

Same - I am doing ISPU for the first time this year, too. It's going to be different not tracking every shipment leaving China. I am sure I will still be lurking on MacRumors though.

Hi everyone! It’s our favorite time of the year! I plan to order the Deep Blue PM 512 GB this time around. I’ve always just paid up front, but the $1100 trade in offer from Verizon is enticing. Anyone else going this route? I’m on the fence about it. I’d be tempted to just pay the phone off early next year anyways. Would lose the bill credits, however.

Something about counting chickens comes to mind. The past couple of years it's been smooth, although the app always opens late for me. The first year I joined the IUP was a disaster. IUP folks were limited to only a couple of colors. And despite having gone through the getting ready steps, I had to reenter my CC details and verify my address. I sent an email to Tim Cook and his Exec team fixed it for me, put a black on reserve at the Apple Store so I could trade in the hideous (to me) gold one I finally managed to order. But recently I've breezed through quickly.
Hmmmmmm…..

Yes. This is similar to the route I’m going with. I’m planning on ordering via the Apple Store but I’m purchasing the phone outright (after a trade in). The Verizon “credit” was tempting but there’s always a time that I want to pay off the device early, and you can but will lose the bill credits. So, I’m avoiding that this upgrade and purchasing the phone outright.

Go into your account in the Apple Store now and make sure all of your contact info is correct and saved, you have a credit card/form of payment saved, etc.

This is a very helpful strategy. First time I've preordered. I usually wait a few months or so but this 17 Pro met all of my upgrade criteria. Thanks.

So, if you buy with Apple but on Verizon, you get instant credit towards the purchase price from Apple and the rest is a bill credit over 36 months.
I am trading in a 13 Pro Max. You get instant $320 from Apple and the rest from Verizon.
This isn't like buying via Verizon directly. No downside. You get your trade in from Apple and extra $$$ in bill credits.
So, if you stay a year and then pay off and move, you are still ahead cash wise to do the Verizon deal.
