Umm...you may have a point...can't believe we are going back to the days of lining up at a physical brick and mortar store for our phones....

Although Apple didn't raise the prices on this year's phones, this may be one way Apple is trying to mitigate the impacts of those tariffs.
I don't think there's a different tariff impact of sending a pallet of iphones to stores vs a pallet of iphones to customers.

Why so many of you doing in-store pickup? Just curious.

I can only speak for myself in that I recently moved and my new place has restricted access to our building and since UPS requires a signature, there's a really good chance they won't deliver to me. So rather than take the risk, I am picking up in store. Plus it will evoke some memories of the early days when you waited in line and it was whole production.

Those that are cancelling delivery orders for ISPU, you do not have any carrier financing , etc correct? It's been my experience if you cancel a carrier financing order, you have to wait 24 hours or some other amount of time in order to do another order with the carrier financing.

Half the fun is going to the store and getting it early in the morning along with all the other crazy people. And then you have the rest of the day to set it up! And if you can pick it up in a state that doesn't charge any sales tax, that's an added bonus...

I have work so my pickup is in the afternoon after I get off work. If I hadn’t been too lazy to get out of the house on the weekends, I wouldn’t mind waiting then. If I wasn’t worried it would be stolen, I’d have happily used shipping.

Can’t wait too long though as I need the device unlocked before a trip (Verizon unlocks after 2 months).

I've been on iUP for years - I think since it launched? Yesterday, I set up my pre-order for one-click ordering this morning. I was allowed in the store about :4 after. All 512 Maxes were 9/25 deliveries and zero in-store pick up options for me (there are 4 stores within a 20-min radius).
Also on iUP since launch. I have about 15 stores within 40 miles, not a single one had availability for in-store pickup this year. If I was buying outright, most stores had wide availability though. This was at like 8:04am. Very odd this year.

Every year the whole IUP process gets boinked, 25th delivery, double confirmations, no confirmations, etc.
The first shall be last and the last sometimes first.
Who ever is in charge will be out of a job by Sept end.

Why wouldn't I? The iPhone is safely waiting for me at my local Apple Store. No potential issues with shipping. I can trade-in my old iPhone on the spot. I set up as new in-store. Then I restore from iCloud backup when I get home. Couldn't be easier.

I can sit at home and have it delivered directly to me along with a prepaid shipping box for my old phone.
I don't have to drive 50-miles one way and wait in line to pick it up.
Could not be easier! ;)
