Just ordered mine and to support my Tigers I had to go w/ violet with a lemon drop stripe. The next 44 days are going to be loooong....:(

does anyone know what case is slimmer, the Top SP or the 1st Gen Classic Dockable flip case ?

I can only speak for the Top SP (as I bought 2 for the iPhone 2G). It is a snug fitting case which adds very little bulk to the iPhone. I imagine that the only way the dockable case could be slimmer is if the case is very thin indeed.

Now, if you were to ask which is the more attractive case, I would not hesitate in saying the SP. It is beautifully designed and crafted, and somehow looks like it is part of the iPhone rather than an an accessory or 'add-on'.

Buy it and weep whilst you wait!

I do hope that the 45 day estimate holds up to no more than that. If it does, then it should be coming in 18 days.

I just received my Fedex Tracking for a Classic Pouch which was ordered 16 days ago with an original lead in time of 15 days. So with luck you may hit the 45 day wait.

hell, 45 days is so long to wait. this sucks

Good think I actually LIKE the classic retro pouch (15 days!) more haha. Though at least you know you're waiting for something good (hopefully). patience is key!

Does anyone know whether the first generation iphone fits in the new 3G vaja cases? (I prefer their 3G crystal case design to the old one...)

I really do not think that it will. Also, it is not recommendable to buy a case for a model that it is not specifically made for.

doesnt allow port access. pretty annoying if you want to plug your car radio into your iPhone, I wouldnt want to flip it everytime, as that is annoying.
they should make one with the flip up the other way and expose the port. :)

That's a good point, and I wonder if that is why they don't show any pictures of the case flipped open with an iPhone installed.

Does anyone have this case that can speak to how easy or annoying it is to remove the phone to use the ports if you regularly want to plug it into a car stereo and/or a car charger? I'm on the verge of ordering this but imagine this annoyance may make it not worth the premium cost.

I have this case for my first iPhone and will have one for my new one. I have never had a reason to take my phone out of the case to use any of the ports, and for the most part, the phone has rarely left the case since I got it. I posted this earlier in the thread, but here is a pic of the cover flipped back, which is how I normally have it when in use. The exception is when I'm using the camera. The other port and buttons are fully accessible with the case closed. Hope this helps.

That's immensely helpful, thanks. Still a little "eh" on the flipping the phone open every time, but considering it. The nice thing about Vaja seems to be their quality and uniqueness... probably will only rarely see someone else with the case. Downside of that is I probably won't ever get to see one in action until I drop $100 for it.

In any case, thanks again. :)

I hope that you are right, but I recall that mine took about 49 days when (in January) they gave a lead time of just 25 days!

Probably best not to hold your breath!

Maybe that's why they increased the manufacturing time for the iPhone 3G's SP when compared to the original iPhone's SP?

Yes 45 days is a hell of a long time to wait. I am on day 34... Have been trying out different cases in the meantime (which has dug a big hole in my wallet!!!)

I just hope that I wouldn't find the 'flipping open the thing every time I use it' routine annoying. Or it would be $100 wasted!

i love vaja's design! i haven see it in real but still their website looks great and all however vaja is so....expensive.
i like their colors and stuff but i would get one from louisvuitton with that money:p

For what it's worth, I have used other cases with a cover - one with a magnet, one with a snap - and I did quickly tire of them. The way the Vaja one is designed, however, has never been a bother for me, and I actually find it to be one of my favorite features of it. With the same hand I hold the phone as I take it out of my pocket, all it takes is a quick push with my index finger to flip the case down. Even after having the case for a year, I still love looking at it and consider it money well spent. I'd gone through a lot of cases, mostly out of boredom, but after getting this one, I was completely happy with it. :) Hope those of you who are getting one enjoy it as much as I have!

I ordered this case a week ago, but I just dropped my phone so I bought a different case that should be here soon.

I ordered the SP, black with vibrant green stripe. Now, I wish I hadn't ordered it. It hasn't come yet, but do you think I have a good chance of selling it?

Definitely, especially if you did not personalize it. I do not quite understand why you would want to sell it, though.

I placed my order on 7/26 and received the on-line receipt on 7/28.

Hopefully, I will receive mine before my trip to Europe (8/25).

I hope mine comes in before the end of the month, as the 45 days will be up on the 23rd. Whatever. Either way, I won't have my phone for another couple of weeks because it's broken...

I actually convinced them to let me cancel my order about a week or 2 after I ordered, since I ordered the SwitchEasy Capsule Rebel because I just dropped my phone without a case the other day.

They just came out with the ivolution Grip for the iPhone 3G today, August 12, 2008. Same manufacturing time as the SP (45 days), and starts at $60.

Ordering basic black

But, do what I did -- order the Top (same as SP, only stripeless) in classic black, with or without a belt clip and get it in a couple of days -- no waiting! They keep those in stock, along with the Special Edition (pebbled weathered brown --gorgeous) Top. Why wait or buy a used SP?

Has anyone tried this with the other designs? I'm interested in the regular ol' iVolution, and emailed them yesterday to ask if this is possible, but haven't gotten a reply...
