Good good. I'm interested to see who else is onboard and how many of my ~110 Non-Valve Steam games will also be brought over.
Also Goldsrc?

Great! But indeed, according Valve time 12 may comes down to 13 may late night. So I'll just jot that down for now! :p

I'm very happy to finally hear a precise date from Valve, although it's totally normal for them if they delay a product a few times. I can't wait! :D

I wonder if I will have to get a new mouse to support some games. I tend to use the 4th mouse button as reload and light/night vision uses the 5th button. The middle mouse button also scrolls through my weapons and clicking the middle mouse button jumps, although I can use space bar for that. I currently use the Magic Mouse and it doesn't have those buttons.

Maybe I'll actually finish HL & HL2 now. I've been using Linux for the past two years and just bought a new Macbook Pro, so I'm interested in how this works...

Does anyone know if Left 4 Dead 2 will be available at launch? I don't want May 12th to come only to find out that Portal is the only game available while the rest are coming "in time". That would be a mega bummer.

I hope to see Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 on launch.

If not, no big deal, I have a PS3 to hold me over. Plus, there's a ton of great games coming out next month. Skate 3 and Red Dead Redemption. I'm soooo excited!

It should have been a bit more obvious back then given the 192-bit memory interface vs. 512 MB of RAM.

I don't pay much attention to the specific details of the hardware scene anymore.

All I care now is that the new II X6es give Intel some real competition and that they have one hell of a good GPU/CPU/MB solution right now. Oh, that Fermi was a a 2900XTX all over again.

Yes sorry it is a 8800GS, it is a typo since i had 8800GT on my Mac Pro. My friend had that mac since 2-2,5 years and it is still ok for gaming. mac is good for gaming, probably better than most "normal user pc" but high end gfx card are usually only on Mac Pro and not always the lastest ones.

The point is, most games plays good on OSX, OSX give also a little boost on some games due to being faster than many windows version, the BIG problem on OSX are drivers! Our 3D drivers are not that good and in many games we get less performance than in Windows. But i think and i hope this will change.

It's not all about drivers either. The company who ports the game can also do a bad job at it. I doubt it's easy to port DirectX stuff over to OpenGL without issues. Everyone knows that ported games usually run worse than the native ones. Just look at XBox 360 ports on the PS3. The PS3 is almost always worse. Lately though, there have been developers who are developing on the PS3 first and then porting it over to XBox.

Any new game compiled for steam will produce simultaneous Mac and PC versions. Older games may not be ported out of pure laziness on the developers' parts, but all new games will be automatically available on Mac.

It sounds to me like you think that all of a sudden every game that will be released on steam will be available for Mac as well. You couldn't be more wrong there!
There are almost a 1000 games on Steam and at launch only 5 games from Valve will be available for Mac.

And so far only games developed by Valve will be available for Mac and PC at the same time for no extra cost. I am sure other Publisher will release Mac versions as well, but something tells me most of them will either release their Mac version 6 months after the PC version and will probably charge extra for the Mac version, unlike Valve.

And to think it's laziness of the Dev's to port it to Mac? Wow... think again. That's something that the Publisher decides anyways and most Publishers just want to see money and by porting old games that no one plays anymore they won't make much money, not to mention the costs and time it would take to port the whole game to Mac. They'll probably end up losing money.

YAY!

I'm looking forward to Portal 2 as well as bringing MW2 over at some point in the next year.

I wish for Modern Warfare II, but the sad thing is that it isn't based on the Source engine, creating difficulties. Hopefully it will be ported though.

That would imply Activision cares. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the game, but their track record for giving fans what they want and patching major issues isn't all that great.

The hardware scene is just a hobby of mine. Sports statistics would be a good comparison.

It's based on a modified Quake engine which is relatively easy to port because the Quake engine was designed as cross platform. The previous CoD was ported, beats me why they haven't ported the newest one.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Well, good. But don't expect many games like windows version. I think that it is enough for mac users anyway.

Can't wait to delete my windows partition. Yay 50gigs back!

So Steam Source based games are the ONLY games you ever play?

I really think some of you have a tendency for exaggeration. This is one step in the right direction and no thanks to Mr. Jobs.

they say counterstrike.. but which one??? Source of 1.6, i hope 1.6!! Because i have a intel gma950 gfx
