Wow, this announcement has completely and utterly removed my need for Windows at all. The only reason I boot to Windows is for Steam so I can play CS.
As much like an oxymoron as that may sound, considering Apple's distaste for games, I agree they have a legendary focus on quality seen in few other companies in their field, they've taken a market (digital game distribution, in their case) from "wouldn't that be nice someday" to a raging success...and they've used well-implemented DRM to build a popular online store.
The ONLY reason I have bootcamp is to play COD MW2. I would really, REALLY, love it if I could play that native on my Mac. My Mac feels all nasty having to have a partition of bootcamp on it for Windows just to play one game.
What is the point of haveing good 3d gameing when apple does not have good video cards / good price for them.
A $800 desktop with 9400m video is not a good gameing system.
A $2500 Desktop with 3gb ram and week video card with a $200 ati 4870 512MB add on is a joke.
a 21.5-inch imac with 9400m at $1200 is not cutting it.
$1500 and $1700 laptops with on board is very bad as well.
Apple better not go back to intel video as that will suck even more.

1. It's spelled gaming not "gameing." Kind of discredits anything you say if you can't even spell the topic.
2. The iMac comes with a 4850 with 1 GB Vram, not 512mb, get your facts straight.
3. those 1500-1700 dollar laptops have a 9400m up to a 9600m GT, perfectly capable of gaming. Your "on board" statement is false. It doesn't look like your on board with whats going on.
4. Apple has not used Intel video for a long time if not ever. Nvidia and ATI discreet cards have been in them for quite some time.
The question I have is if I bought games via my Steam account for PC and now switch over to Mac,will I be able to get the Mac version and use it instead of the PC version? Or will I be forced to re-buy these games in Mac format ? If I will be able to play them as is this is fantastic!

If the Mobility HD 4850 in the iMac came with 1 GB of VRAM you'd still lack the power to use it.
The 9600M GT is a die shrink of the 8600M GT. nVidia and Apple need to get with the mobile GPU times. Not that either will any time some.

Why not? They all run on the source engine... Source runs on the exact same build even as HL2 (source engine build 7)
L4D and TF2 are different yes, but I would say CSS is a for sure if HL2 is

Anyway. The iMac uses a mobile 4850 with 512MB ram. This powers an enormous 2560x1440 monitor. This will be terrible for any decent looking game.
The laptops are perfectly [in]capable of decent gaming, even the 9600m GT. I don't think most Mac people realize what Windows users get to experience on the graphics sides of things.
Apple was using Intel integrated graphics as recently as two years ago if I am not mistaken. There are rumors they will go back to it with Arrandale but I don't think that will happen. The Steam announcement is a cool one, but I'm also left wondering what content they will have for it. Maybe they see this area growing. They would pretty much be the de-facto guys to go to if you want to distribute your Mac game digitally. That is until Apple locks down the OS and forces you to use the iTunes Mac App store.

Mac vc's will be fine. If they were really that weak nobody would be able to dual-boot and play steam games in windows or run them through a vm. They are not the top of the line $500+ cards you can get for a "pc", but they will definitely get the job done.

I realize they are all the same, but until I hear it is coming or see some sort of proof I am not willing to bet money on it. I am willing to bet money on Steam, HL2, TF2, L4D, and Portal though. That's just my opinion though, I really do hope the whole Source engine game line up makes its way over.
Talk about discrediting... have you never heard of the words "you're" or "discrete"? And maybe you could avoid a double-negative sentence that makes no sense. And then in your signature you might want to pluralize Mac Pros correctly.
