Opinions are not facts true, but they are the one thing that can supplement facts in this case.
Argument = Gaming on notebooks is inferior / bad
Rationale (or in debate, criterion) = I like Desktops
Counter = That is your opinion
Counter Rationale = Lots of people disagree (proven by the vast market of "gaming notebooks" even the brand of Alienware, as well as people that just like to game on their MBP's)
Opinions can only be used one way, they are the only thing like that.
They can build an argument just fine, and supplement facts almost completely. However you cannot use your opinion to discredit something else, or others.
Think about that for a minute, and it makes perfect sense. That is not even my argument, it's Lockes.
I like to use the phrase, one mans trash in another mans treasure. If you believe that gaming on a laptop is great, then that is perfect for you. I know many many people that think a MBP 2.8 17" is perfect for thier gaming needs.
Myself, i have a MBA, MBP 17 2.8, Imac 27" and a Gaming rig running an i7 at 4.2, with 2x 5870 GPUs.
MBA - Useless for gaming
MBA 2.8 - If i am on the road, I will game on it. At first it seemed great for my gaming needs, till i got a 27" imac and gaming rig
27"imac - Much better then MBP, though on some games it starts to get sluggish
Gaming rig - Sets my standard for gaming, when i move from that to the other two, the gaming experience feels crap.
My point, if a Laptop is all your used to then great, but if you have gamed on a proper machine, you do not know what you are missing out on.
Developers create games with some serious eye candy that are designed to run on Crossfire/SLI running on 5870 cards +, Apple hardware in regards to GPUs is a long long long way behind. A 4850 mobility is crap in todays gaming GPUs. If Apple wants to get into gaming, they really need a desktop model between the Imacs that run mobility GPUs and the Mac Pros that are just way way too overpriced.
