Had issues activating the phone. Did a quick chat with Verizon and boom they fixed it.

Loving my Xs Max! Huge upgrade for me coming from a 6s Plus.

Anyone on East Coast still waiting for the fedex truck? Basically 7pm. Only 1hr before the deadline.

I had a problem activating (which seems to be going on with everyone else too)
Here's what I did
Threw my 7+ into airplane mode
(Popped out its SIM too just in case)
Turned off the Xs Max
Popped out the SIM and popped it back in
Powered it on, then it said it was activating, 30 seconds later "iPhone Activated"
Hope this helps someone!

Yes- same problem on the Activation screen where it won't accept the billing ZIP and PIN. Verizon says it's Apple and Apple says it's Verizon. 2 hours on the phone nothing working. Verizon account shows new Xs but it's not activating.

I'm having the same problem, I started a thread for it here.

Is there a new SIM already in the phone? Service didn’t activate on the new phone and I’d figured I’d ask before I tear up my house looking for something to open the SIM tray with lol

Exactly what I have. Apple Sr. Tech support said they have messages about this showing up in their internal tracking system and that going to an Apple store or Verizon may help. If I go to an Apple store it will be to return this Xs 256 and get a new one. This could take them a while to figure out where they messed up.
I went into the “flagship” Verizon store in Times Square to see what they could do. They have zero tech support staff on site, it’s just a sales site. They offered to call Verizon customer service for me. Lol.

So apparently what I did wrong was I didn't turn the old phone off. Think that's what caused the new phone not to activate. Once you backup your old phone, turn it off.

Not really- why does Apple offer the simple transfer process by using an existing iPhone to get up and running faster? Need to have both devices on for that to use the camera and probably NFC to transfer the WiFi data, etc.

This is getting ridiculous! We had the same problem with my wife's Xs Max. We stopped the process after three attempts so her only 8+ is still up and running, I called Verizon and made them put my old 8+ back on-line and boot the new Xs off the system.

Sort of tells me this is Verizon since both of our devices on one account failed to completely activate.

Well said! Every single year there’s activation issues for half the day. I’m cracking up over all the complaining on the forum. Good lord don’t people realize the amount of traffic hitting the activation systems? Millions of people are trying to turn up new gear. World wide. If ay of the complainers understand high level the core network or how the activation works it’s impossible to have a system that can handle millions of requests per second. I bet in a few hours this is all behind them and they’ll find the next issue to post about lol thanks for putting this up I’m with you 1000%.

Then tell me why two different devices, an Xs and Xs Max, attempting activation 4+ hours apart experienced the same exact issue and the same exact issue others have posted here? And Apple Sr. Tech support can't understand how the device shows activated on Verizon's system but yet can't get past the activation procedure either on the device or through iTunes?

It's not network overload- there is a deeper problem than latency or limited traffic and especially when it's repeatable.

I get to the activations screen, keeps telling me Verizon can't verify my identity. I've tried both, my pin and last 4 of SSN, along with the billing info - the SAME EXACT info I used to order the iPhone via Apple iPhone upgrade, and it hasn't worked, been a bummer. Been on the phone with Apple, they said it's a Verizon issue. Verizon says its an Apple issue. I've been on the phone with each company twice. My new iPhone is basically a paperweight.
At this point, I have no idea what to do.

same exact issue for me. Been a very frustrating launch day

Mine is activated but LTE isn't working - it works for a few minutes then stops. Disabling LTE (3G-only) works fine. VZW online chat was worthless, and I haven't tried calling as this is my only phone and, well, non-LTE or wifi call means I can't see if any fixes are working  If it's still like this tomorrow I'll stop in a store and see if a new SIM fixes it.

Edit: seems to be working now - not sure if it was changing location (a couple of miles) or something on Verizon’s end

I just walked into my local apple store and got a Verizon XS Max 256 gig in space grey within 5 minutes.. I always have better luck than preordering.

I'm in the same boat. I've been on with Verizon Tier 3 for a few hours now.

Spoke to Apple tier 2 who escalated to "engineering" and said it was a 1 business day response time....

I was on the phone for two and a half hours. A three-way call with an Apple person and a VZ person. Eventually, after trying a million things, everyone threw up their hands and hung up. I'm so over this.

Same, I called Apple, they said it was Verizon (after I had already talked to Verizon and they told me it was Apple). Called Verizon back, told them how I talked to Apple, they had me pop the sim out, verify the ICCD number on it, try again, etc. Finally they were out of ideas and had me on a conference call with Apple. The call ended with neither the Verizon or Apple rep knowing what to do, and just saying "try activating the phone again in a couple hours"
I had some hope, said ok, waited 2 hours, tried again, same thing, no luck.
It's now been 4 hours since that conference call.
Unreal

I'm waiting on the Apple rep to join me and the verizon rep on the phone.... hopefully I'll have better luck :/
