Not really- why does Apple offer the simple transfer process by using an existing iPhone to get up and running faster? Need to have both devices on for that to use the camera and probably NFC to transfer the WiFi data, etc.
I did that but for some reason it messed it up the verizon activation.

I was so pleased to see this delivery at 10:42t this morning in Southern CA. Loving the Xs Max SG 256GB so far!

I used the old zip and my account PIN via iTunes. Once it said "Congrats". I used my old phone to set up the new one with that automated process.
Thanks, I’m at a loss I verified my zip is correct. I’ve used my pin and ssn, done it on the phone and itunes. I’ve updates, restored...no clue where to go from here lol

my billing zip on Verizon has the 5 numbers, then a - with 4 more numbers, ie: 12345-6789
But it doesn't let me enter more than 5 numbers when trying to activate my phone...could this be the problem!?

Ask the VZW reps to check, it was a previous address and it wasn't a billing address. My current billing address is and has been updated and correct all day. It was an old address stuck in my account somehow.

I thought this exact thing and had the vzw rep remove the -6789 from mine, didn't help.

I hope you do too!
If they are able to help you, please share!!

Apple forwarded me to a senior tech guy who had me try a couple of things then made a ticket to send up the chain as high priority, they were aware of the issue, said he expected to have an answer back in the next couple of hours hopefully and would call me back

Ask Verizon if you have previous addresses in your profile for mailing. If you do, try that zip code. Or just try a previous zip before you call VZW

From the EASTCOAST. My iPhone was scanned in PA and NJ from Monday to Thursday. Today it decided to take a trip BACK to California for the past 12 hours. Anybody know what’s going on haha.

Starting to get worried, almost 7pm here in Colorado and no delivery but it’s been on the truck since 6am

Finally got mine to work after about 6 hours of trying. I reset my PIN on the Verizon site, then used the last Zip Code they had on file plus the new PIN. I'd suggest trying the last Zip Code or two that you had with Verizon plus your Verizon Account PIN, which you can reset if you don't know. I tried my current billing zip code and last four of my social 100 times and got nothing, the first time I tried the old Zip Code and the Verizon account PIN, it worked.

Anyone else getting a blocked call saying something along the lines of "your account has been disabled please press one to re-enable"

To those of you that have been having activation issues, I wanted to offer my two-cents of what I did to get my iPhone activated. First, I turned off iMessage and iCloud on my old iPhone and then turned that phone off. I then went to my account in MyVerizon and chose the option to activate new device. I followed the steps on the screen and then I turned my new iPhone on and followed the instructions. I didn't have any issues. I'm sorry some of you are having issues, but wanted to offer my two-cents of what worked for me.
Good luck everyone!

I've only ever had one address for the account

tried that too, no dice

Try any and all old zips or PIN’s you can remember. I tried every old zip and no dice. Finally I went back and tried old PIN’s with my current zip and a pin back from a few years ago actually worked and got my phone activated. Hope this helps

I was having the same activation issues all day. On the phone with Apple and Verizon all afternoon. It looks like their activation servers are desperately out of sync with their other systems. I started trying combinations of old billing ZIPs and possible PINs I could have used until I found one that actually worked. Of course, it didn't match what I actually have set currently with Verizon at all.

Are those who are experiencing activation problems doing new line activations with your phones?

I only ask because I had no problems with switching my phone on the same line.

I’m typing this on my new lovely Max, btw.

Same line switching to new device. Same Zip code forever with Verizon.

I think returning the two Xs’s we have and buying new at Apple store may fix the issue. Don’t see any other solution. Verizon honked up this simple thing we do year after year.

Did you take out the old sims and put them into the new phones? Or did you try to activate using the new sims?

There’s a process to follow for deactivating the old before activating the new phones.

www.vzw.com/returns

I didn’t have to do anything with zip codes or PIN numbers. I popped out the sim from my 8 Plus with the tool included in the iPhone box and put it in the Max. I’ve had no problems making or receiving calls and the Max shows up in my account online as well.

Figured I would post my story. FedEx delivered a box at 10:45 this morning. I say "box" and not iPhone Xs Max because there was no iPhone inside. The flap was torn just enough that someone could have reached in and pulled the iPhone box out. The left me with some packing material and the white envelope to send my current phone back. I contacted both Verizon and FedEx. FedEx did confirm their records showed the box showed some damage when it arrived at the destination hub. Anyway, now I wait for them to sort it out which will take upwards of a week. :\

Delivered at 5:16 while at work. I left a note on the door with the tracking numbers and stated to leave the packages out of sight. Came home at 9:15 and sure enough they were between the screen door where they couldn’t be seen. So happy it’s over. Mom and I will go to get screen protectors in the morning and I’ll sell the old phones at Gamestop

Just throwing this out there...I didn’t have any activation issues transferring service from my old iPhone to my new one. I did a backup of the old iPhone, shut it off, turned on the new one, plugged it into my computer, and followed the directions in iTunes to activate it and restore it from my backup. Used the last four digits of my SSN when asked. Did not need to do any SIM swapping or anything. I have always had the same zip code though.

Forgot to post this but I ordered a 256 gold Max mid-day on Sept 14th. The last week it has showed processing with a deliver by Oct 3rd date. Last night I got a text from Verizon saying I would get another text when my order ships and my card was charged. Woke up this morning to an email with tracking info and a Tuesday delivery!

Finally got an update from Verizon on the GoldMax 64, they charged my card and sent me a text telling me they would let me know when they were going to send the phone. The delivery date of 10/10 has disappeared (I ordered it when I was up at 2am on 9/15).

Yay. :) I think the phone will come the same week as my cases which is perfect.
