From what it looks like, most of these new updates are coming out from the East coast orders. I'm on the West Coast, still no status change from "We received your order and it is in process" or a CC charge.
I ordered a 16gb black within ten minutes of availability, and a 32gb black at 9:00 am pst. Up until now they both had Friday as the expected ship date. I just got an email for the 32gb saying it is on hold, while the other now has a blank tracking number grid on the order status page. What the heck happened to the 32gb??

Me too. Fortunately I need to leave the house for a few hours, so I can quit obsessing.
Im in the same boat, on the phone with Verizon right now. They told me the Expiration date was incorrect, however the money has already been taken out of my bank account.
I wonder if the east to west coast has anything to do with banking days.
Doesn't the banking day officially change at 2:00 PM? Meaning everyone on eastern time are now officially on the next banking day??

That used to be the case, but most have a later cut-over now. Either way, this would have no relevance to iPhone orders. They can charge your card whenever. No different that going to Starbucks and paying for a coffee. I think too many people are worried about the intricacies of their systems. People are seeing strange things as orders move through the process.
Again, VZW support is saying that if you pre-ordered on the 7th by 5p then it will arrive at your door on Friday.

I've had an order status change and a mysterious corresponding reduction in my available credit limit. Though no specific charge is yet visible.
