i ordered mine about 15 minutes before 2am CST. The website came up early just like the iphone 4 launch. i ordered the 64gb black model. i wonder if certain models will ship before others based on inventory. i bet the 16gb model is more popular than the others. Like all of you I hope i get it by Wed or Thur.

Since all of you Verizon owners are in here, I will ask this off topic question real quick. For this iPhone I decided to switch to Verizon from AT&T. How is your experience with the Verizon iPhone? Is the data really THAT much slower? Did anyone go to Verizon like I am from AT&T? Thoughts? 
I really hope that pre-orders from all carriers get them the same time, whether it's earlier than launch date, or on launch date... if sprint gets them early and nobody else does, i'd be bummed. I guess it's a day or two in the grand scheme of things, but it's fun getting your phone before the people who like to wait in those lines!

I used to be on ATT. I have not had one problem other than it being a bit more expensive... we're talking a couple dollars here and there. customer service is helpful about 87% of the time (my made up statistics) over ATTs 46%.
speeds are a bit slow, but i'm around WiFi most of the time. I am kind of bummed with the new antenna design that ONLY ATT will be getting "4G" speeds (14.4kbps down) on the iPhone 4S, but again, i'm around WiFi most of the time I need it.
I average about .87mbps to about 2mbps depending on the time of day- which works for me. I can still access what I need if i'm in the car or not around WiFi

Sure Verizon is slower wen you look at the stats but in real life use I have never once said to myself "wow this phone is SLOW". I have used both AT&T and VZW and I much prefer reliable voice service than slightly zippier data.

i spoke with a rep today on the phone. i had preordered a 64 gig white 4s, and he said the 16 gig devices were the hottest preorders and that the more expensive the device the less popular (nothing i couldnt guess on my own LOL)...i got my vzw preorder in at 3:07 am friday...still "In Processing"

this status has shown since saturday 10/08/2011. i called that day and 2 reps verified the order was 100% ready and completed, they said not to worry! Now its 2 days after that and no chance in the status! Anyone else with this problem?
Same situation for me exactly. Called CS on the 7th and was told my order looked fine...credit was approved...and not to worry. Well...I wouldn't be worrying...except for the fact it's three days later and I still have the same message.
I did notice on the 7th that there was a pending charge on my CC...which has since gone away. I guess initially they do that to make sure you have submitted a valid CC.
If my status doesn't change by midday Tuesday I'm calling again...

Ordered at 4am Saturday morning (I know I was a little late) and it specifically said Deliver By: 10/14/2011 in my confirmation email and on the verizonwireless website...Now when I check the order status it says 10/21??? WTF? I ordered for delivery 10/14!

I got the same confirmation email. I ordered mine 10/7/11 @ 07:24 Est. When I went to check status today on the website it could not find my order.
I called Verizon to ask what was going on. They were able to locate the order and confirm it. He added that it is going to ship on the 14th not arrive on the 14th. What the heck??
The confirmation specifically states that "It is being processed and will be shipped to arrive on 10/14/11"
I told this to the VZW rep and he said it could arrive later than the 14th.
He also added, anyone who ordered after 19:00Est on 10/07/11 will not get it till 10/21/11 (that sucks)
This is going to be a long week.

There's been a handful of articles stating that those 14.4 Mbps downlink speeds are theoretical only. You will never ever see these speeds in real life. If you live in an area where AT&T service is great then by all means stay with them. But if you're like me and have to go into a big city like Manhattan for work, AT&T turns to pure crap as soon as I get into the city. For me a slightly slower but more reliable network is more important than faster data speeds on a phone (when you can actually get a good signal). This is why after being on AT&T for all the previous iPhones, I'm going to Verizon with my 4S.

Verizon does have those speeds- but it's not quite reliable enough for Apple yet. my brother got a droid bionic the other day (Verizon 4G) speeds were fast, but the more I used it the more I realized the speed isn't a necessity. I mean it was real cool and fast, but battery life was bad.
Qualcom (the company that's making many iPhone and other phones cell chips put out there road map and they aren't releasing any new chips until Q3 2012... which makes me think the new iPhone in 2012 will have them, but until then the chips just drain to much battery. I'm assuming apple is waiting for a wider infrastructure on Verizon's 4G as well. in my area it's great, but on the outskirts of down, it's a bit dodgy.
Verizon customer here, ordered through Apple. Currently it's it's in Preparing for Shipment status since early yesterday. No Info on the FedEx or UPS websites.
Most reps don't know anything. I'm almost positive that he is incorrect. If everything else is held constant, then you will get your phone on the 14th or maybe the 15th at the latest.

Also ATT SUCKS. their customer service is horrible and there service is spotty. my company uses ATT and I actually opted out because so many of my co workers can't even receive or send calls in our office in the CENTER of the city. it's not worth the speed in ANY way.
